Wen'an Haolike Hotel, a Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel.

At the end of 2018, invited to the opening of Wen'an Luneng Hilton Hotel, I had the opportunity to visit Zhonglüfa Health Eco-City (then called Wen'an County Jingjin Luneng Leader City). I only remember it was quite cold at that time, and the snow-covered estate was exceptionally serene.

This time, due to the opening of Wen'an Haolike Hotel, I returned to the estate just in time for the spring bloom, experiencing a vacation environment full of health and vitality.

Wen'an Haolike Hotel is located in Zhonglüfa Health Eco-City. It is the second Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel in Greater China after Taipei Times Residence, and the first of this brand to open in mainland China. The hotel is about an hour and a half drive from Beijing, Tianjin, Langfang, and Langfang North High-Speed Rail Station, making it an ideal choice for short getaways in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Haolike is actually the name of a boutique winery owned by the hotel's owner in Australia. The six-story hotel building is naturally designed in the form of a castle, a common feature of wineries, and stands out prominently within the estate.

Upon entering the lobby, the elevated ceiling adds a sense of grandeur to the originally delicate interior. The front desk is on the right, with an earth-tone backdrop adorned with drifting petals, some highlighted with gold leaf, which not only adds a touch of luxury but also brings the entire scene to life. After checking in, I proceeded to the guest room floors.

On the left, the sofa seating area exudes a hint of European countryside estate charm. The display shelves behind are neatly arranged with various books and art pieces inspired by wine.

The marble floor has delicate veining.

The hotel has a total of 266 guest rooms on floors 2 to 6. I stayed in room 8521 on the 5th floor, a Deluxe room one level above the base Select room, with an additional small balcony.

The interior style follows the current trend of minimalism, blending white and beige, paired with asymmetrical bedside lamps and a gray leather headboard. The design uses a subtractive approach, yet highlights warmth and a homey feel.

Beyond the minimalist main visual, other design elements in the room are expressed through the gradient of the carpet, the carved cabinet doors of the minibar, and the art pieces in the living area, alleviating any potential monotony of simplicity.

Although limited by space and thus without a bathtub, it became my favorite indoor area. The sink is flanked by a shower and toilet, and the emerald green of the accent wall is the reason I love it. The wine elements in the guest room need to be discovered carefully; the hotel playfully planted miniature succulents in corks—such an adorable touch.

The hotel also offers luxury suites with a modern minimalist design, primarily in cream white, complemented by dark walnut furniture and antique bronze metal accents, ensuring a pleasant and comfortable stay with views of the unique ancient marsh landscape—a blue-green lake and a green oasis. The rooms feature an independent workspace, combining functionality and practicality.

Merlot All-Day Dining Restaurant

All other hotel facilities are arranged on the first floor along with the lobby. The hotel's only all-day Western restaurant is named after one of the red grape varieties, Merlot, with a wine barrel at the entrance, offering international cuisine.

The restaurant incorporates the hotel's signature wine elements into dishes, such as beef braised with Haolike wine and baked pizza.

The desserts surprised me quite a bit, and I ate a lot. Some cakes and mousses also incorporate wine elements.

Outside the restaurant, there are two private rooms named after wine estates: Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Adjacent to the lobby, Haolike Lounge features thick solid wood flooring. The seating area is symmetrically arranged around a central table with a bonsai, with a living-room-style interior furnished with several haze-blue fabric and earth-yellow leather sofas. The bar is tucked away on the left side.

Most of the signature cocktails at Haolike Lounge are also made with red wine as a base. In spring/summer and autumn/winter, they serve two signature cold and hot drinks: Haolike Merlot Lemon Drink and Haolike Mulled Wine. The bar not only displays detailed recipes and preparation methods but also offers a small tasting cup after check-in. If you like it and want more, you can purchase it here.

Magpie Tree Club

On the first floor, there is also a social space called Magpie Tree Club. The pure white square ceiling is dotted with crystal-clear lighting. The space combines the leisure of sofa seating areas with a hint of ceremony from the conference-style seating arrangement. If you have enough time, you can even play a game of billiards in front of display shelves adorned with various art pieces.

The hotel also has a gym on the first floor. Although there is no swimming pool, the rich surrounding facilities and activities will add much to the upcoming May Day holiday.

The hotel also has meeting rooms that can accommodate small to medium-sized meetings.

Haolike Estate originated in Australia in 1983. After being acquired by the owner, it not only extended from Australia to China as a high-end hotel but also built a French-style wine castle near the hotel.

This wine castle, resembling a French countryside manor, has a building area of over 7,000 square meters. It is a landmark high-end wine castle integrating wine bottling, storage, display, and sales. It includes a wine cellar area, a display area for wines from the world's eight major wine estates, a wine education area, a VIP tasting area, and a private wine storage area. It is also the highest point in the entire estate.

The vineyard around the wine castle must look spectacular during the harvest season. Currently, due to the season, nothing has been planted yet, and you can only see a "scarecrow" made from discarded parts, looking quite tipsy.

| Modern Agricultural Science Park

The Modern Agricultural Science Park covers an even larger area. In the greenhouses, vegetables like chili peppers, pumpkins, and tomatoes are cultivated using modern agricultural techniques such as nutrient film technique. There are also bonsai plants like Osaka pine.

It was mid-to-late April, and having never been to Wuyuan in Jiangxi to see rapeseed flowers, I temporarily fulfilled that wish here. This was the largest expanse of rapeseed flowers I have ever seen, and it was truly beautiful.

| International Equestrian Club

Having fallen in love with horse riding in Yunnan, I found another reason to revisit. Next time, I will definitely take a proper horseback riding lesson at the International Equestrian Club. (Wealthy) guests can even bring their own horses to be kept and trained here.

| Tractor Park

There is also a Tractor Park worth visiting in the estate. Besides the familiar "Bumblebee," I learned for the first time that Lamborghini also makes tractors. A fellow traveler joked that a tractor afternoon tea would definitely be a hit. Other activities include archery tag, kayaking, and cycling around the lake.

Wen'an Haolike Hotel is the first Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel in mainland China and the first of this brand I have ever stayed at.

Let's look at it literally: tapestry, a woven fabric. It reminded me of markets in Bali and Luang Prabang, where behind the artisans' stalls hung exquisite handmade textiles.

Although each tapestry incorporates local characteristics, they all have different color schemes and pattern combinations. Like the Tapestry Collection hotels, it is a colorful collection of unique properties.

Currently, there are over 50 Hilton Tapestry Collection hotels worldwide. China is expected to see new properties in Taipei (the second one), Shaoxing, Chengdu, and Boao. We will continue to follow the latest developments.

The hotel is located in the core development zone of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, within the Jingjin Luneng Ecological Zone in Wen'an County, Langfang City, Hebei Province. This area has a long history, with crisscrossing rivers, and is adjacent to the Xiong'an New Area. It provides convenient access to surrounding transportation hubs: about 90 km by car from Beijing Daxing International Airport, about 100 km from Tianjin Binhai International Airport, about 30 km from Bazhou West Station, and about 95 km from Cangzhou West Station. It also offers easy access to the famous 5A-level scenic area, Baiyangdian Scenic Area.
