“If I were a flower, for whom would I bloom? If I were a bird, where would I fly? A star's twinkle cannot form a constellation; the sum of a big tree is a single weight.” Lately, I've been looping this song, "The Sum of Loneliness." Perhaps we are all sums of loneliness, which is why we come together!

Wide Narrow Alleys contain the charm of old Chengdu

If you come to Chengdu, you must not miss this attraction—Kuanzhai Alley (Wide and Narrow Alleys).

Although called Wide and Narrow Alleys, it actually consists of Jing Alley, Wide Alley, and Narrow Alley. Here, you can experience the city's street life.

Kuanzhai Alley has always been a portrayal of leisurely and comfortable life. Some say it's like Beijing's Nanluoguxiang, but in my view, Nanluoguxiang's charm is ancient and traditional, while Kuanzhai Alley is leisurely and soothing. However, both share a common point: they have many specialty snacks. The local famous foods here will definitely satisfy your appetite!

Because Kuanzhai Alley preserves too much old Chengdu culture, when you stroll through it, you'll see a blend of history and modern fashion, but you'll find it not at all disharmonious; instead, it gives a wonderful feeling. The rows of walls built with bricks from different eras and the relief-like paintings of old street scenes make the afternoon in Chengdu leisurely and beautiful.

Coming to Kuanzhai Alley, don't say you're just here to see the scenery; if you don't eat something, I'm afraid you'll be embarrassed to say you've visited. There are many Chengdu snacks here, simply a feast. I love all kinds of wontons—sweet, salty, numb, spicy—super tasty and super cheap. Ma Ma Rabbit Head, rabbit cubes, roadside skewers, Guokui (stuffed pancake), Zhong Dumplings, and Bon Bon Chicken are all good. I also recommend a place here for sweet noodles; they suit my taste perfectly—delicious and inexpensive, really great.

Wandering in Kuanzhai Alley, experiencing its charm, you'll find you can slowly enjoy the tranquility that is hard to find in life. Sipping a cup of tea and eating Chengdu's specialty snacks—this might be true enjoyment.

Jiaoliao Hotel—Jiaoliao's New Nest, Old Memories in Kuanzhai; Chengdu's Blossoms, Awaiting Your Pick

In ancient times, it was said, "The wren nests in the deep forest." Now, it is said, "The wren nests in Kuanzhai." Speaking of Kuanzhai Alley, this is a bustling area of Chengdu. From ancient times to the present, high-ranking officials and nobles have settled here, and even ordinary people often wander around here.

Nowadays, visitors and tourists come in an endless stream. From afar, you can smell the snack aromas wafting from every corner of the alley, and hear the cries of vendors, their voices rising and falling as they hawk their wares.

Jiaoliao Boutique Hotel, a place of tranquility amidst the hustle, perches delicately and modestly at No. 28 Kuanzhai Alley. The hotel is near Metro Line 4. It is about 19 km from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, about a 40-minute drive. Nearby attractions include Kuanzhai Alley, Jinli, Tianfu Square, Chunxi Road, and other famous spots.

If you want to enjoy a peaceful holiday without missing the city's prosperity and excitement, Jiaoliao Boutique Hotel is the perfect choice.

Before coming, we had already inquired about the origin of the hotel's name. It is said that "Jiaoliao" was originally a bird, derived from Zhuangzi's words: "The wren nests in the deep forest, but only occupies one branch." This conveys a poetic dwelling that casts aside worldly troubles, guards the true heart, returns to nature, and attains freedom and ease—a philosophy of being close to nature and远离尘嚣.

But this time, the wren does not nest in the deep forest; it has chosen this alley full of worldly life, nestled beside a bustling street, opening up a resting place in the city's mountains and forests for visitors from afar.

Amid the noisy crowd, we pushed open this ancient, grand door. The first thing that caught our eyes was the main gate. The screen doors on both sides had hollow-carved patterns, including bat motifs, symbolizing fortune and happiness. The two bats at the corners, with water ripples above them, represent blessings as vast as the East Sea. The bat on the central axis signifies blessings descending from heaven. Together with the central one, there are five bats, representing the five blessings arriving at the door. We hope all honored guests here enjoy longevity, a good end, wealth, health, and virtue.

Passing through the courtyard and into the corridor, we saw a bamboo, a tile, flowing water, and rockery, giving a sense of rustic elegance, as if entering a parallel space to the world's prosperity, separated only by a wall. My companion seemed ecstatic, constantly saying how beautiful it was, taking photos nonstop, as happy as a child.

Entering the lobby and looking carefully, the hotel's entire decoration style is full of the characteristics and elegance of Western Sichuan dwellings. The simple and elegant imitation Qing ancient buildings combine movement and stillness, showcasing the essence of landscape in a small space. It seemed the owner put a lot of heart into such exquisite decoration; no wonder it's so popular.

As we passed through the corridor, the parrots hanging on both sides, jumping up and down, became unusually active due to our arrival, chirping incessantly, which amused my friend. It seemed the birds were also welcoming our stay!

The hotel's blue bricks and black tiles are interconnected with the birds' chirping—one movement, one stillness—complementing the hotel's design style, and this movement and stillness are both vividly reflected.

The "movement" is reflected in the meticulous details of the hotel's decoration, with bird-shaped ornaments echoing the hotel's name everywhere.

The "stillness" is embodied in the imitation Qing-style courtyard of blue-black bricks and tiles, where every plant and tree is tranquil, every bamboo and stone has elegance, establishing a peaceful and leisurely lifestyle—riding on things and wandering the mind in ultimate freedom.

Passing the corridor, we arrived at the accommodation area. Entering the guest rooms, we found that the materials used were all natural, solid raw wood. The rooms also featured Shu embroidery, one of the four famous embroideries, and a rice pounding tool called "duiwo," fully interpreting the original meaning of returning to simplicity.

Observing closely, we discovered that the room's hardware facilities were also quite impressive. Whether the bathroom fixtures, smart toilets, or mattresses were all configured according to the top standards of international five-star hotels. Understated luxury exuded a high-end vibe. Such configuration far exceeds that of other hotels—how could our group not be tempted?

Inheriting the culture of Laozi and Zhuangzi, creating high-end facilities, not following the vulgar, not abandoning the world. Jiaoliao Hotel allows you to find the perfect balance between lively prosperity and peaceful seclusion, letting you enjoy the tranquility beyond the mundane while having the convenience of urban hustle—all for your unique experience.

Panda Base—Discovering the Joy of Pandas

When it comes to Sichuan, you must not forget the place where giant pandas live—the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Many people love the adorable and clumsy appearance of giant pandas. Previously, I could only see pandas online; browsing their pictures, I found them soft and cute. This time, arriving at the breeding base, thinking about seeing real giant pandas, I was exceptionally excited. After all, they are our national treasure. "Selling cuteness for the country"—that's the real strength of baby pandas.

At this base, you will see many giant pandas, which is a completely different feeling from browsing pictures online!

Baby pandas enjoy national treasure-level treatment here. The environment is a complete simulation of giant pandas' wild habitat.

There are lakes, streams, and of course, their favorite food—bamboo!

Most notably, they have built "Panda Villas" for them. This is also their daily leisure and entertainment venue. When the weather is cool, baby pandas play here; some leisurely stroll in the yard, while others roll on the ground—a scene of carefree enjoyment!

Visitors can also watch the adorable pandas from behind the railings. When it's hot, the smart pandas hide in the rest area, so visitors can only see them sleeping soundly through the glass.

In short, when you come to Sichuan, you must visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. The pandas here are truly diverse—everything you want to see is here.

The national treasure giant pandas are truly adorable, silly and cute, free and happy. Suddenly, I found myself quite envious of these pandas. Perhaps, maybe, I'm not the only one who thinks so!

Childlike Innocence in Snowy White—Taiziling Ski Resort

When winter snow is mentioned, people in Chengdu immediately think of Xiling Snow Mountain, etc. In fact, there is an even more beautiful place waiting to be visited—Taiziling Ski Resort at Jiuding Mountain.

Taiziling Ski Resort is located in the Jiuding Mountain Scenic Area in Mao County, part of the "Ancient Qiang City" in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is 180 km from downtown Chengdu, about a three-and-a-half-hour drive, making it a professional ski resort at the doorstep of Chengdu residents.

In winter, Jiuding Mountain is clad in silver, covered with white snow, ushering in a four-month sunny ski season. Taiziling Ski Resort at Jiuding Mountain features the longest intermediate-advanced international commercial standard ski runs in western China, strictly divided from beginner to advanced levels, along with a full set of imported new ski equipment.

The ski resort can accommodate 5,000 people skiing simultaneously and offers professional ski instructors to fully meet the needs of enthusiasts of different levels. The resort also launches free beginner group ski lessons at different times, allowing visitors to quickly learn basic skiing moves and quickly experience the joy of skiing.

Besides activities for adults, the resort has specially prepared a children's area. In the snow play area, kids slide down from heights on sleds accompanied by their families, filling the air with laughter and joy.

As a top winter resort in Southwest China, Jiuding Mountain Taiziling Ski Resort is equipped with leisure facilities such as Hemingzhuang Holiday Hotel and Hemingzhuang Holiday View Restaurant. Coupled with the convenience of a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Chengdu directly to the ski hall, it provides a new winter outdoor sports destination for locals and nearby visitors.

Taiziling Ski Resort's ski runs are divided by slope gradient into 3 beginner, 3 intermediate, and 3 advanced runs. Each run has a gentle slope, giving beginners a full sense of security. The three intermediate runs are the domain of bold beginners and most regular players, where you can play and have fun to your heart's content.

Parents with children need not worry; there are also snow play runs suitable for kids, with very gentle and stable slopes, perfect for children. They can enjoy snowball fights, snowman building, and sledding—everything they need to experience the innocence of childhood and the lost childlike fun.

If you drive here, you're in luck. On the way home at night, passing through Wenchuan, you can also enjoy the night scenery of Wenchuan.

The neon lights are brilliant and magnificent, giving a sense of reassurance and comfort. Only by skiing yourself can you know how fascinating it is—once you go, you'll become addicted!

When you step into that pure white world, experiencing the purity and grandeur of the wilderness amidst thrilling sports, listening to the wind whistling past your ears during high-speed gliding, the vast snowy world lies at your feet.

Let You Taste the Flavor of Home—Yuan Gong

Chengdu Sichuan cuisine food check-in at Yuan Gong. Yuan Gong was recommended by a friend. It's authentic Zigong cuisine, with genuine flavors that allow homesick locals to taste the taste of home.

Specific location: No. 87-1, Xuedao Street. South entrance of Chunxi Road, cross the overpass and walk towards Xinhua Bookstore, about a ten-minute walk. It's also not far from Qingshiqiao Seafood Market, about a five-minute walk.

Before entering, we could see their sign from afar. The storefront is not particularly large, but it has an antique charm with a strong Chinese style. The store has a high-end feel; the interior is spacious and not cramped. The environment is excellent.

The service attitude is very good. As soon as we entered, everyone greeted us with welcome words. The receptionist at the door led us in, and then an interior service representative took over.

They seem quite thoughtful.

I must say their serving speed is very fast. Shortly after we ordered, the dishes started arriving one after another.

Highly recommend the old duck soup. The flavor is very fresh, the broth rich and delicious, and the soup base is truly savory. After a sip, I felt relaxed and refreshed. The duck meat is stewed very tender, not dry, and very nourishing.

The Longmen Hanging Meat is really unique. When the waiter cuts it, they say, "First cut, good luck; second cut, rising step by step; third cut, perfect happiness." It tastes like crispy pork, very crunchy.

If I had to pick the most memorable dish, it would be the Naked Shrimp. The naked shrimp is pre-peeled and definitely fresh, with the vein removed, giving diners peace of mind. Best of all, the naked shrimp also has taro, which is delicious—soft and well-flavored, with an excellent texture.

Yuan Gong Clam and Frog has a great visual effect, with a feeling like a nebula chain. The taste is very good. This combination of frog and clam is a first for me; I have to say it's highly innovative and tasty.

Zijiang Frog Leaping in Sauce has tender meat and a pure flavor. This dish looks very spicy, but it's actually okay; the frog meat is very tender, giving a sensation of flavors dancing on the tongue. Not bad!

The dishes are really delicious and portion sizes are generous. It's also a great place for gatherings and entertaining guests. Recommended index: five stars!

Red and Hot Eating Skewers

Located just a few minutes' walk from Exit A of Huazhaobi Metro Station, Chengdu Gua Chuan Chuan (Chengdu Melon Skewers) has a very eye-catching sign. When I walked closer, I felt the style was unique, with a very Chinese feel—quite interesting.

I must say their storefront decoration is grand, and inside are square tables spaced well apart, so it doesn't feel cramped. Sitting inside is very comfortable.

The serving speed is also fast. By the way, these skewers are of the cold-pot type. You choose your ingredients, and the shop cooks them and serves them directly. No need to worry if they're cooked—just eat them when served. Very convenient.

The dry dip is their specialty. The dry dip tastes excellent, with lots of peanut crumbs on top. It feels great; my friend loved it so much he wanted to ask the shop for the exact seasoning, but that's impossible—the shop won't reveal it. The dry dip is good, but for someone like me who isn't very tolerant of spicy food, it's not suitable. For those who love spicy food, this is your dipping weapon!

Of course, they have not only skewers but also small bowl dishes as their specialty. Many small bowl dishes taste quite good. Recommended must-order items: Mala Hot Pot Noodles. The hot pot noodles are really tasty and very flavorful; each noodle is coated with the broth. The flavor is indescribable—absolutely great!

Mala Potato Cubes are my favorite. They are not particularly spicy, and each potato cube paired with the seasonings is amazingly delicious. The potatoes are neither hard nor too soft—just the right texture. After one bowl, I wanted another.

My first time eating rabbit loin was at Chengdu Gua Chuan Chuan. Unexpectedly, the rabbit loin tasted very good, even better than I imagined. Tender and soft, one bite each—truly delightful.

After eating skewers, have a bowl of ice jelly to relieve the grease. Life is so wonderful.

Savoring Time in Bie Yuan

This tavern, surrounded by greenery, lit by neon lights, and filled with various alcohols and snacks, instantly became a favorite among Chengdu's drinkers.

Perhaps in life you may encounter various setbacks, but on such a night, partying with friends until late is also a good choice. It might let you temporarily forget some unpleasant things, allowing you to fully enjoy a pleasant time. Savor it, savor it carefully!

This small tavern is actually located near 339, on that bar street. Just entering, you find the decoration quite pretty. The gaudy and dazzling atmosphere makes you feel like you've come to a midnight cocktail party, with a kind of mystery.

The whole place has two floors. The staircase leading upstairs is quite interesting, with flickering lights—it's also one of their Instagram-famous decorations, indeed very eye-catching. Inside, there are several rows of moving colored lights that change colors and move up and down, enhancing the tavern's atmosphere.

It's practically a museum of alcohol.

Besides 75 types of alcohol and over 20 signature cocktails, they recently introduced Hot Pot Wine. This wine gets full marks for appearance. Have you ever eaten hotpot and drunk alcohol, but have you ever drunk such a good-looking hot pot wine? Tsk tsk, it looks a bit like a traditional Beijing copper hotpot. Inside, there is mellow turbid wine and strong vodka. The pot comes with base ingredients, including dried tangerine peel, cloves, dragon fruit, kumquats, and rose petals—romantic to the fullest.

The alcohol content is low, with a sweet and sour taste and a hint of flowers and fruit—suitable for both men and women. And the portion is large; for two or three people, ordering this one pot is enough. Sitting at the bar, watching the bartender's smooth skills is itself a fantastic enjoyment.

Perhaps in such moments, we can find the indulgent side of ourselves!

Give Yourself a Reason

I finally understood a truth: a person's life should have at least two impulses—one for a love that doesn't hesitate, and one for a trip that leaves on a whim...
