Harbin in Summer Also Fascinates Me
I spent the best four years of my youth studying at university in Harbin.
The bustling and elegant Central Street, the majestic and magnificent Flood Control Memorial Tower, the provincial museum rich in books and treasures, the tourist resort Sun Island, the Polar Aquarium, the Ice and Snow World, the Window of Eurasia...
Now revisiting this place, I am amazed by the beautiful scenery before me, and gradually find the joy I felt when I first got to know Harbin.
Taking advantage of the annual leave, I made an appointment with a friend. After getting off the train, the first stop was the familiar Central Street. Watching the bustling crowd, a familiar feeling slowly emerged in my heart.
The Renaissance atmosphere rushes towards me, and Baroque-style streetscapes stand row after row—everything is so familiar.
I grab a stick of the familiar Modern Ice Pops from Central Street.
Central Street and Saint Sophia Cathedral are truly a must-visit spot for taking photos.
Natural photo studios can be seen everywhere.
The Flood Control Memorial Tower should be considered a landmark here.
The red sausage and dry sausage from Qiulin Lyon’s, the refreshing and appetizing Qiulin Kvass after being chilled, plus sliced bread rich in walnuts and red raisins—sitting by the river with friends, looking at the vast blue Songhua River, we finish today’s lunch.
In the afternoon, Sun Island seems to be enveloped in a halo, with a hazy beauty.
We had dinner on Central Street. The night by the river was very pleasant, with a gentle cool breeze, a leisurely and melodious violin, a carefree street singer, and charming night lights.
The next day we went to Haxi, visiting Haxi Wanda and Red Square. Of course, it was all about shopping and eating.
In the scorching summer, it would be unhappy without beer and little BBQ.
On the third day, we went to Baroque Street.
In the Baroque Street in Old Daowai, new and old buildings complement each other. This cluster of buildings, blending local elements with Baroque European style, retains the simplicity and vicissitudes of Old Daowai, dedicated to recreating the original folk customs of old times. Several of us strolled through the streets and alleys, inevitably reminiscing about various past events and feeling as if we were in an old movie.
I happened to come across a little fat Shiba Inu named Liuer~
Standing on the overpass at night, looking at the busy traffic below, I felt a kind of post-intoxication contentment. Thinking of leaving this city tomorrow, I felt a little bit of reluctance, but no matter how far you go, you always have to return to your own life.
The three-day itinerary was neither too much nor too little, allowing me to find a city more comfortable and soothing than my bed. Harbin, we’ll meet again if fate allows.
