Weekend getaway in Yunnan for families: Dolphin Bay sits on the stunning Fuxian Lake, the most beautiful freshwater lake. By day, the hotel resembles a dreamy castle; by night, a shimmering crystal palace. Step inside and you'll find an underwater tunnel that leads to an ocean adventure where you can encounter all kinds of marine life up close, and even go treasure hunting with the Octopus Queen. Are you ready to explore this magical world?

The hotel is located within the Cambrian Town Happy World Resort in Yunnan, embracing the scenic Fuxian Lake and a vast fun kingdom. It features 716 uniquely designed ocean-themed guest rooms across four sea-inspired categories, catering to every ocean dream. Staying in such a whimsical, colorful hotel is pure bliss!

Yunnan enjoys spring-like weather all year round. Every summer, I love heading to Lijiang and Dali to escape the rainy season in Hangzhou. Now, the hotel's blue-themed elements are here! Kids-friendly details are everywhere, making little ones want to stay in the room all day. Blue fills the whole space, and you feel a decade younger the moment you step in.

This family hotel designs everything with a cartoon touch—colors and patterns that instantly make kids want to play. Even the cups are adorable; it's like stepping into an animated cartoon corner.

Strolling through the corridor, the yellow, blue, and red architectural style feels like a fairy tale, with symmetric designs on both sides. A height chart on the wall and cartoon patterns on the floor invite kids to hop and jump around—it's all part of the daily fun.

Driving up, the first thing you see is the logo at the entrance. Inside your room, open the balcony door and look out: fluffy cotton-candy clouds drift right before your eyes. Yunnan's weather is truly gorgeous.

Join the Cheerful Squad and become an adventurer in the underwater world. Enter through the main gate, walk straight ahead, and you'll see a cluster of marine animal decorations. Getting here is easy: a direct flight from Hangzhou to Kunming Airport takes just 3 hours, then a drive of just over an hour on highways brings you to Dolphin Bay Hotel. Along the way, the blue skies and white clouds are Yunnan's signature scenery.

The lobby architecture is full of artistry, with vivid colors that create a lively and cheerful holiday atmosphere.

A giant octopus stares right at you. This area reminds me of Atlantis in Sanya—a magical underwater kingdom with over a hundred sea creatures, too many to name. Today, I found a similar spot right here in the hotel. It's the perfect photo op!

Ocean elements are scattered all over the walls, and blue dominates the space, making you feel like you're immersed in the sea.

When you're tired, head to the all-day buffet restaurant on the 3rd floor, which seats over a hundred guests. From noodles, sashimi, and seafood to grilled skewers, there's always something to satisfy your taste buds.

Observant guests will notice staff members in every corner. If you're ever lost or unsure about something, just ask. The culinary team is large—even the barbecue station has four people. I grabbed a few freshly grilled skewers and had devoured them before even reaching my seat.

The Chinese food options include roasted meats, stir-fried noodles, and all kinds of noodles. My favorite is the braised chicken chunks. I highly recommend the fish fillets here—for someone who doesn't like sashimi, I much prefer cooked fish.

Chinese cuisine is an irresistible temptation the world over. The hotel's seafood platter has everything: lobster, scallops, vegetables, shiitake mushrooms—the medley looks so appetizing, it instantly sparks your appetite.

You can also pick your own seafood and have the staff cook it for you. But too much spicy food isn't great for your stomach, so balance it with some mild dishes to stay relaxed while you play.

If you love spicy food, try a Chongqing-style mini hot pot with meatballs and vegetables. In a single bite, you'll feel transported to Chengdu, sampling signature flavors from across the country.

Vegetable salads, cakes, desserts, and unlimited fruit juices—the buffet is my favorite dining style. You don't need to compete for food; just pick what you love.

After your main meal, grab a watermelon chocolate stick and a custard tart. Eat like this every day, and you might just gain a few pounds, haha.

Even the dining area is decked out in yellow and blue. Kids can grab a plate and pick their own food—just make sure they don't waste.

As night falls, the hotel lights gradually come on. Step outside and you'll see Dolphin Bay Hotel in a whole new light. The lake reflections make the scenery even more enchanting.

The night lighting adds a different kind of charm to the hotel.

Every corner of the hotel looks like a work of art. At night, I took my camera and found some unique angles to share with you.

The vertical composition captures so many elements—if someone sat there, it would make an excellent portrait photo.

The circular pattern at the front desk—do you know what it is?

The playful corridor and family fun zone—if I were still a kid, I wouldn't be able to resist such temptation.

Last but not least, don't miss the chance to get up close with dolphins! A 5-minute drive from the hotel takes you to the destination. After getting out, put on shoe covers, and you can interact with the adorable dolphins! These cuties will keep playing with you, and if you have food in your hand, they become perfectly obedient little ones.

With its distinct ocean theme, cutting-edge design and living concept, and superb lake views, Dolphin Bay Hotel is undoubtedly the premier ocean-themed family hotel in Southwest China. In addition to watching dolphin shows from a distance, you can also go rowing to interact with them. First, disinfect your hands with alcohol, put on a life jacket, and then board the boat in pairs for a close encounter. Each boat gets a small bucket of fish.

Each session lasts about 10 minutes. The dolphins swim around you, and when you turn around, they're right there, mouths wide open, waiting for the fish in your hand.

Dolphins are a collective name for aquatic mammals in the family Delphinidae, small to medium-sized toothed whales found worldwide in oceans, as well as in brackish waters near inland seas and river mouths, and occasionally in inland rivers. They usually live in groups and feed on fish and squid. No need to travel far—seeing dolphins right at the hotel is pure joy!

Hold the food in your hand, and the little dolphins slowly swim closer. If you don't let go of the fish, they won't leave your side.

The colorful castle-shaped buildings are perched on a lush hillside, spectacularly photogenic. Swim in the outdoor pool while enjoying stunning views of Fuxian Lake. On your next trip to Kunming, you know where to go now, right?
