Yunnan is also vibrant, nurturing a profound and diverse artistic culture. Art attracts art, art ignites art, and here the flower of art blooms freely, lending Yunnan’s beauty an endless charm.

I entrusted my body and soul to Colorful Yunnan · Ancient Dian Town, immersing myself in its unique aesthetics. This is a journey of art discovery in Yunnan—two days and one night of boundless splendor.

I’ve always felt that art shouldn’t be something lofty and out of reach, confined to temples. Ordinary people should be able to share in its joy and celebrate it together. At the Colorful Yunnan · Life Hall, I saw art from millions of people—a silent discussion about the beauty of art in life was unfolding.

Inside the Colorful Yunnan · Life Hall, a dazzling array of exhibits adorned various objects. These are beauties you can take home, beauties intimately connected with life—Colorful Yunnan treasures that blend Yunnan’s local customs with the art of living.

What happens when visually striking, boldly colorful pop art meets Yunnan’s charm? It becomes distinctly Yunnan pop art—a fusion of music, history, nature, folk crafts, and cuisine with modern aesthetic concepts, creating refreshingly original artworks. On a small silk scarf, I saw countless beautiful things; inclusivity and acceptance make everything possible.

Joining this art revelry are nine guardian spirits from Yunnan. The mysterious and wondrous *Classic of Mountains and Seas* is not only a bold ancient imagination of the unknown, but also provides modern artists with endless creative space. Traditional culture is rejuvenated in this new era, reminding people in another form of the preciousness of a good life, while paying homage to nature and humanity itself.

Not to be overlooked is the fresh reinterpretation of traditional tie-dye craftsmanship. Ancient Dian art, new gifts of ancient blue—this is the creation of young designer Wang Hua. Visiting Colorful Yunnan · Ancient Dian Town is an immensely comfortable experience, thanks to the Ancient Dian Premium Wetland Park, which makes all time gentle. Kunming, a city of eternal spring, is a paradise for plants. At all times, it’s lush with green trees and blooming flowers, with hills and waters complementing each other, adding a touch of elegant charm.

Early morning in Kunming is truly delightful. The slightly cool air invigorates the spirit, carrying a hint of moisture. Strolling along the wooden boardwalks of the Ancient Dian Premium Wetland Park, every pore opens up, greedily absorbing nature’s essence. There are no crowds, no artificial adornments—everything is utterly natural and brimming with wild charm.

Fragrant rice fields all around, vast sunny sands, summer lotus blooms, and spring willows—such scenery is itself a masterpiece of nature. Where land meets water, a thousand charms unfold. This 1,100-mu (about 73 hectares) wetland park, with a 5.6-kilometer slow walking trail around Dianchi Lake, lies south of the lake. It’s as if you’ve arrived on Pandora. White silk ribbons hang from a giant tree, drifting in the air—beautiful, ethereal, and dreamlike. This great tree seems to have its own emotions and soul, telling the world its joys and sorrows through the wind. At night, with naked-eye projection and new-material LED technology, the whole world transforms into another planet, where all living things come vividly to life, revealing nature’s true face.

You must ride the eye-catching Ferris wheel. At 108 meters tall, it’s the first of its kind in Yunnan and known as the ‘Eye of Dianchi Lake.’ It offers the best perspective to overlook the entire Dianchi Lake and Colorful Yunnan · Ancient Dian Town. From this high vantage point with stunning views, you’ll fall in love with the city all over again.

Two massive artificial mountains shaped like fierce tigers and a steep water slide deliver the thrill of wild backward plunges and high-speed dives. At Tiger Leaping Gorge Rapids, plunge from great heights into a pool, letting go of all your stress.

In the ‘Fantasy Ancient Dian Wonderland’ area, the ‘Water Teacups’ ride combines spinning and drifting fun. Imagine yourself deep in a forest, with rushing waters beneath you and a giant python overhead—so vivid and exciting.

The Sun Ship in the Primordial Secret Realm swings like a giant pendulum—soaring to the clouds one moment and plunging into the valley the next. The ‘Snow Eagle Wide-Wing Coaster’ in the Frosty Moon Cold Islet area, with its 45-meter height, delivers the thrill of leaping from a snow-capped peak. With seven themed zones and 81 rides, every corner is filled with laughter and joy.

The more you explore, the more you love it. Every detail shows care and dedication. It’s both an amusement park and a castle, where you can step back into Ancient Dian.

As an important part of Colorful Yunnan · Happy World, the Ancient Dian Hot Spring Resort also holds much significance. Here, you can enjoy the essence of Ancient Dian’s legendary culture, Yunnan’s ethnic customs, and hot spring culture. With grand, distinctive Ancient Dian architecture and an antique charm, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

108 themed hot spring pools are artfully scattered here, each step revealing a new view, built along the mountain with grace and elegance. The silky spring waters wash away all fatigue. Private spaces with superb views make everything you see, hear, smell, and touch a pure delight.

What I can’t forget is the Qiongtai Pool on the hilltop, an infinity hot spring that merges the water with the sky. It’s open and soothing. Holding a glass of red wine by the pool’s edge, quietly gazing at the distant sky, emptying your mind—this feeling is irresistible no matter when you experience it.

As dusk falls, the sun paints a magnificent sunset canvas with its last light. The whole sky becomes brilliantly colorful and dazzling. Clouds, water, trees, and the not-so-distant Colorful Yunnan · Happy World are all bathed in layers of soft, interwoven golden and red light. It’s gentle and healing, a view you can only find here.

Colorful, free-spirited, and full of warmth, the Ant Workshop caught our group’s eye. Before arriving at Colorful Yunnan · Ancient Dian Town in Kunming, we first went to Jianshui to explore this place.

Brightly colored hollow bricks create unique, artistic independent spaces, each with its own function and theme, resembling ant nests. People can explore their own understandings of art and aesthetics inside. As a photographer, I absolutely love this place—top-notch background material and unique artistic concepts that have sparked even more thoughts on art creation.

Good-looking, interesting, and practical—this is the ideal paradise of the elderly Luo Xu, where his soul can rest and his whole being finds peace. This ‘wild artist’ personally transformed a former ruin into the Ant Workshop, a place of warm soul. Born and raised in Yunnan, Luo Xu used his own understanding to gift his hometown such a delightful surprise.

Having once worked as a ceramicist, Luo Xu is deeply grateful for the inspiration that experience gave him. The Ant Workshop’s exhibition hall displays many ceramic artworks, displayed on walls also made of hollow bricks. Light shines through the holes, enlivening the exhibits. Those whimsical patterns transport the mind to another world.

Why not try pottery-making at the Ant Workshop? Give form to your inner thoughts with your own hands and experience a brief but solid happiness and fulfillment. Feel the soft clay take shape in your hands—it’s endless possibilities, boundless imagination.

Yunnan’s cuisine is famous worldwide, with unique flavors and a style all its own, making countless mouths water and hearts yearn. The Half Mountain Healthy Life Center, located in the Ancient Dian Hot Spring Resort, also charmed me.

Dining by a waterfall, sharing delicious cuisine—the beautiful atmosphere greatly enhances the meal. Inside the Half Mountain Healthy Life Center, both Chinese and Western dishes are a feast for the senses, nutritious and healthy. I really enjoyed such meals.

I recommend staying at the Ancient Dian Resort Hotel. With a superb location adjacent to the major attractions of Colorful Yunnan · Happy World, it’s within walking distance. The hotel itself is clean and cozy, perfect for a comfortable night’s rest.

My rendezvous with Yunnan has come to a temporary pause, and the pursuit of art takes a brief rest, but my heart will always be on the road. Yunnan is beautiful, and Colorful Yunnan · Ancient Dian Town is beautiful, with a charm that goes far beyond what I’ve described.

Multiculturalism and ethnic diversity have nurtured Ancient Dian’s rich variety. Embracing elements from past and present, home and abroad, many people have shaped Ancient Dian, and Ancient Dian has in turn shaped many people. I hope this paradise welcomes more visitors, bringing even greater vitality to Colorful Yunnan · Ancient Dian Town, and allowing its culture and art to touch more lives, spreading love and beauty.
