Always Unforgettable: A 4-Day Trip to Kunming, Following Wang Yibo's Footsteps

Remember? That intersection where we watched planes take off and land. Remember? Wandering near Dianchi Lake, searching for traces of seagulls. Remember? Strolling through the alleys of Kunming, chatting under the dim lights~ The deepest memories of a city are often the stories that happened there. Kunming is one of those cities deep in my memory, and also one of the hardest to let go of. People always go through experiences and grow. Labels of a city change slowly too.

The winter in Chengdu is too cold, so I wanted to go somewhere with a warm winter. Besides Sanya, there's Kunming, where it's like spring all year round. Where to go? That became the question. As an entertainment blogger, I discovered that Wang Yibo had visited Colorful Yunnan · Ancient Dian Kingdom. So let's go there~ Preparations: health code, nucleic acid test proof (since there was an epidemic in Chengdu, I still took a test), hoodie (big temperature difference between morning and evening), power bank, charging cable, umbrella, etc.

Colorful Yunnan · Ancient Dian Kingdom is located beside Dianchi Lake in Kunming, covering an area of 16,000 mu. It is a large-scale cultural tourism urban complex integrating cultural experiences, sightseeing, leisure and health, business conventions, entertainment, and offices. It comprises areas such as Colorful Yunnan · Happy World theme park, Ancient Dian Boutique Wetland, Ancient Dian Museum, Ancient Dian Dora Pet Paradise, Ancient Dian Vitality Town, and Ancient Dian Hot Spring Hotel. It's a perfect place for retirement and wellness. Of course, more importantly, it's also great for young people to visit~~

**Villa-style resort hotel, exclusive large suite**

Kunming Ancient Dian Resort Hotel, found online, super cost-effective! For just over 400 yuan, you can stay in a villa-style small suite for one night. The small suite has two bedrooms + living room + kitchen. For friends coming to spend the winter here, it's really good value.

The Ancient Dian Resort Hotel opened in 2017, with over 1,100 two-bedroom, one-living-room resort rooms, featuring oversized balcony design, a distinguished living room, a fully equipped kitchen with water, electricity, and gas, and complete furniture and appliances. It provides a considerate vacation experience for families visiting Kunming. The hotel also has well-rounded surrounding facilities, including a KTV, library, cinema, Time Cake Shop, gym, billiard room, etc., so you can enjoy them according to your needs after meals.

When I checked in, it happened to be a sunny day. Sunshine poured into the bedroom, making it feel not like winter but like Spring Festival. Brew a pot of tea, sit by the window, read a book—this retirement-style life is so nice.

Besides staying at the Kunming Ancient Dian Resort Hotel, you can also stay at the Crowne Plaza Kunming Ancient Dian Town. It's not far from Colorful Yunnan · Happy World, Dora Pet Paradise, and the Ancient Dian Boutique Wetland—just a few minutes' walk. The Crowne Plaza exceeded my expectations of a holiday hotel. The hotel's facilities and services are far superior to the average holiday inn. Moreover, the hotel is situated in a resort village, surrounded by vegetation, and with Yunnan's unique warm winter weather, it always brings a delightful mood. The hotel has many features: the lobby design is elegant and grand, looking magnificent. With Christmas approaching, they've used many cute decorations, making people feel cheerful.

I strongly recommend this hotel for family stays! They've specially designed boys' and girls' rooms for families. The boys' family room is decorated mainly in blue, with many dolls from classic cartoons. It made me feel like returning to childhood.

The girls' rooms are of course pink-themed, with bunk beds, small tents, dolls, etc., for the kids to play.

The girl from the family traveling with us saw this room and couldn't put it down; she played there all the time, and we didn't need to look after her. Haha.

It's rare to find a hotel that welcomes pets in rooms, but the Crowne Plaza Kunming Ancient Dian Town has a dedicated pet room, equipped with essential items, and even has a private backyard. Pets can play in the backyard as much as they want.

For food lovers, the hotel's dinner buffet is incredibly lavish! Just look at the photos I took, and you'll know, haha.

There's a wide variety of delicacies: Beijing roast duck, Sichuan Bo Bo chicken, Fujian Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, and my favorite fruits and desserts~ My mouth waters just writing about it.

**Return to Childhood: A Paradise for Kids—Ancient Dian Dora Pet Paradise**

Ancient Dian Dora Pet Paradise is a must-visit park in Kunming. Located within the Ancient Dian Kingdom complex, about 50 minutes from downtown Kunming. If you bring kids to Kunming, you must come here! Dora Pet Paradise has all kinds of small animals from around the world, such as squirrels, blacknose sheep, piglets, rabbits, capybaras, raccoons, alpacas, etc. The animals here are very gentle, and staff are nearby. You can basically take photos with them or feed them yourself. It's perfect for both kids and adults.

For feeding, they sell animal feed at the entrance, 10 yuan per bag. The little girl in our group had a blast, feeding one after another.

Alpacas are indeed adorable, but they have tempers too. When alpacas encounter people who don't feed them, they will spit incessantly. The spit is very smelly; a friend in our group got hit, haha.

Dora Pet Paradise also has animal shows, which any visitor can watch. For example, parrot shows, dog shows, etc.; they're so cute you'll want to adopt one immediately, haha.

I've seen peacocks countless times, but luckily, for the first time, I saw a peacock spreading its tail. The ticket for the whole Dora Pet Paradise is also very cheap: 48 yuan per person (same price for all ages), or you can buy a family package: 128 yuan for 2 adults and 1 child.

**Colorful Yunnan · Happy World—So Much Fun**

The happiest part of this trip to Yunnan was visiting Colorful Yunnan · Happy World. There are so many rides and performances; for me, an entertainment blogger who also dabbles in travel, it was a blast. As the core part of the Ancient Dian Kingdom cultural tourism zone, Happy World covers over 700 mu, with a total investment of over 3 billion yuan. It closely follows three cultural threads: Ancient Dian culture, ethnic culture, and regional culture. It features zones like Dian Army Camp, Fantasy Dian Wonderland, Children's Dream World, Myriad Tribes, Primordial Realm, Frost Moon Cold Land, and Chariot Flower Sea, with 81 amusement projects, providing a one-stop play guide for young people and families.

The Eye of Dianchi Ferris wheel, 108 meters high, is Yunnan's tallest Ferris wheel. From here, you can overlook Dianchi Lake and experience a different kind of thrill.

Elephant Play Dragon Roller Coaster, total length 1056 meters, height 38 meters, is a rare launched roller coaster. Using electromagnetic launch, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, instantly blasting off.

Tiger Leaping Gorge Rapids Ride, inspired by the famous Yunnan scenic spot Tiger Leaping Gorge, features a 36-meter-high tiger mountain-themed ride. Very exciting; I heard in summer it's all crowds, people, people.

Also there are roller coasters, Twin Towers Space Shot, Myriad Mine Train, Primordial Stone Hammer, and other rides. Young people, rush to them!

Like in every scenic spot, there's a place to write and leave messages. Missing you is the greatest regret of my life, inexplicably bringing tears.

Happy World is not only a playground for young people but also a paradise for families. "Baby Paradise" is a new large-scale family entertainment center, containing thirty-four professional advanced facilities, designed for children aged 2-6. Inside, it's like a big maze, kids immersed in their own world. Families can spend quality time together, enjoying the joy of family.

The architecture is full of an Alice in Wonderland feel.

After getting tired of walking, you can watch the Ancient Dian stunt theater show "The Chronicles of Ancient Dian". This is a spectacular live-action show set against the backdrop of wars between the Ancient Dian Kingdom and neighboring tribes in the Western Han Dynasty two thousand years ago. Through shining armor and horses, and the mists of history, it recreates the human history of the Ancient Dian period. It's grand and awe-inspiring, making your blood boil.

Wang Han, Wang Yibo, and the "Day Day Up" crew have all visited this place. You can come and check in the same spots.

The Ethnic Grand Theater occasionally performs "Colorful Yunnan", telling the traditional arts of Yunnan's ethnic minorities, suitable for all ages.

On major holidays and weekends, there's the Colorful Yunnan Ancient Dian Parade in Happy World, featuring distinctive formations, beautiful floats, exquisite costumes, graceful performances, surprising mechanical effects, and immersive music, creating a carnival feast for both eyes and ears.

At night, there's a special water show "The Peacock Princess", a multi-million-yuan water screen extravaganza. Through a dreamlike stage connecting water and sky, it integrates Yunnan's ethnic culture with high-tech special effects to create a vivid viewing experience.

There are so many shows at Happy World; in the evening, there's also the Illusionary Dianchi Fireworks Show, definitely worth the ticket price.

I'll definitely come back to Happy World when I get the chance.

Besides the warm winter, what else is Yunnan famous for in winter? It's definitely the red-billed gulls. Every winter, tens of thousands of red-billed gulls from Siberia come here to spend the winter. At the Ancient Dian Boutique Wetland Park, you can see them anytime. Other scenery in the wetland can be ignored; seeing the gulls is enough!

**Ancient Dian Hot Spring Villa—Soak in Hot Springs to Relieve Fatigue**

Ancient Dian Hot Spring Villa, located within the Ancient Dian Kingdom complex, is upscale and classy with excellent service. After getting tired from playing in Ancient Dian Kingdom, come soak in the hot springs here. The biggest highlight of this hot spring villa is the abundance of pools—not just a few. They extend from the foot of the mountain all the way to the top. You can totally have a pool all to yourself. Add playing on your phone, and just imagine how great it is!

Look, I actually saw guys and girls soaking in the hot springs while on their phones.

At the mountain top, there's an open-air infinity natural hot spring, offering a panoramic view of the whole Ancient Dian Kingdom.

Many families also choose to come here to soak in the hot springs; the kids are left to roam free and they have a lot of fun too.

Kunming, spring all year round, a place for a warm winter. If next time I turn a corner and meet you, I'll casually pass you by.
