A Great Vacation Spot: Kunming Sunac Dianchi Houhai Travel Guide
Every holiday, I'm like a headless fly, wanting to go everywhere but fearing the crowds like "dumplings in boiling water". But this time, I finally found a highly cost-effective destination—Kunming Sunac Dianchi Houhai.
Sunac Dianchi Houhai is located in Xishan District, Kunming, 30 km from Changshui Airport. We started from Luoyang, took the airport bus from Changshui to the terminal station Xiyi Hotel (Xiaoximen), and then took a taxi directly to Sunac Dianchi Houhai.
Tips: Choose the airport bus route "Airport Line 1". A taxi from Xiyi Hotel to Dianchi Houhai only costs about 20 RMB and is quite fast!
This is a high-end boutique guesthouse with five-star quality, located in the heart of Dianchi Houhai. There are countless food and entertainment shops around, and it's very convenient. The room quality is excellent; although it's on a bustling commercial street, it doesn't disturb your rest. The bedding is clean and tidy, and the bathroom is also very clean. (In the evening, the hotel has a tea art performance by ladies in Hanfu.)
Tips: When you first arrive at Dianchi Houhai, I suggest checking the "Sunac Cultural Tourism Club" mini-program for guides. It has many reviews of food, attractions, and hotel recommendations. The mini-program QR codes can be seen everywhere on Dianchi Houhai street.
An arcade with stunning looks. Though it doesn't look big from the outside, it has many activities inside, including dance machines, claw machines, 4D racing, fishing, and more. If you play the ticket machines, you can exchange tickets for various exquisite gifts. The decoration style is very photogenic, with a cyberpunk vibe.
Game coins at Huanyou Carnival cost 1.5 RMB each. Free exchange coupons are occasionally distributed at the entrance—grab them and you've hit the jackpot!
This is a real ski resort where you can actually ski. The snow is soft, not like the ice chips of an ice rink. There are two slopes: one for beginners and one for advanced players. Snow World provides free ski suits and equipment, but not gloves. However, if you buy tickets through the mini-program, you can get free gloves that you can keep!
Snow World ticket prices: 188 RMB for 2 hours, 288 RMB for 4 hours; student tickets are 158 RMB for 4 hours. A quick reminder: the timer starts when you swipe your card to enter, so make good use of your time.
Here I recommend some great food near Snow World and Huanyou Carnival, so you can enjoy Dianchi Houhai's specialties during your breaks.
Xiyuecheng Tan Douhua (near Snow World)
A very distinctive Chengdu snack shop. Their top recommendation is "Sweet Water Noodles". They are really delicious. Don't be fooled by the oily appearance and spicy look—they actually taste sweet and savory, not spicy at all. The noodles are very chewy and springy. The owner says that due to the complex process, the sweet water noodles are limited daily and sold out when gone. There's also "Sad Liangfen" (cold noodles), which is sour and spicy, very refreshing and appetizing.
Yazhuola Music Tibetan Restaurant
A highly recognizable restaurant with a unique decoration style. Here you can taste authentic Tibetan specialties. Recommended dishes: Tibetan specialty "Tsampa Yak Yogurt", "Shuiqi Baba", and "Butter Tea". For the Shuiqi Baba, you must tear it with your hands for the full experience. One bite of Baba, one sip of Butter Tea—it feels so comfortable.
Delicious food, comfortable accommodation, and joyful fun—that's the true meaning of travel. This trip to Kunming Sunac Dianchi Houhai fulfilled all my travel fantasies. A big 'satisfied'!
