Luck and Fortune, 'Eat Chicken' at Kunming Dianchi Back Sea!
I am an avid travel enthusiast. When it comes to travel, I could talk for three days and three nights without end. Over the years, I've been to many places, but as a person from Chuxiong, Yunnan, I've never properly explored my own provincial capital—Kunming. I love experiencing the beautiful gifts of nature, and I also enjoy capturing the little beauties along the way with my camera and words. Last weekend, I spent two days in Kunming and discovered a treasure trove—Sunac Dianchi Back Sea! It's perfect for short trips for friends from both inside and outside the province. Get your little notebooks ready.
1. Route: 8:30, depart from Chuxiong to Kunming, take a bullet train from Chuxiong Railway Station to Kunming Station. Arrive at Kunming Station at 9:35.
Small tips: The earliest bullet train from Chuxiong to Kunming Station is at 8:30, with a travel time of 1 hour. It's relatively fast.
Recommendation: Kunming Station is about 10 kilometers from Dianchi Back Sea. A taxi costs about 20 yuan and takes 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can take Metro Line 2 to Dongfeng Square, transfer to Line 3 to Liangjiahe Metro Station, then take a taxi to Dianchi Back Sea for about 8 yuan.
2. Food Shops: Arrived at Dianchi Back Sea at 10 o'clock. I hadn't eaten breakfast in the morning, so my stomach was growling. As soon as I entered the Dianchi Back Sea town, I saw a restaurant called '读书铺酸笋鸡' (Dushupu Sour Bamboo Shoot Chicken). I have always hated the smell of sour bamboo shoots—they smell stinky. But my companion absolutely loves sour bamboo shoots, so she dragged me into the shop. Their signature dish has been a hit for 17 years: the signature sour bamboo shoot chicken. As soon as I entered, there was no strong sour bamboo shoot smell. We ordered a portion. Urged by my friend, I tried a piece of chicken. It was sour, spicy, and refreshing, without the usual stinky smell of sour bamboo shoots. The chicken was very tender and soft. Drinking a sip of the chicken soup was even more comforting.
Recommendation: The golden potatoes are a must-order. Crispy on the outside and sticky on the inside, slightly sweet, and they also add rice cakes (erkuai), cut into small squares, very tasty.
As a seasoned foodie, I can't resist famous snacks like '西月城谭豆花' (Xiyuecheng Tan Tofu Pudding). This is a must-eat snack when visiting Chengdu. I've been craving it ever since my last trip to Chengdu. Without further ado, here are the recommended dishes:
- Sweet Noodles (Tian Shui Mian) 10 yuan: This snack is probably the most representative of Chengdu cuisine. A must-order! Sweet and spicy flavor.
- Steamed Beef (Zheng Niurou) 32 yuan: The steamed beef here is amazing. The spicy and numbing flavor bursts in your mouth, stimulating your taste buds, making it hard to stop eating.
- Iced Drunken Tofu Pudding (Bing Zui Douhua) 7 yuan: It contains fermented rice and tofu pudding. The combination is smooth and bouncy.
After eating and drinking, if you want to find an afternoon tea shop to relax, you must go to '花答应' (Hua Daying). It's a combination of a flower shop and a milk tea shop. The storefront is decorated with various bouquets, and inside you can sit and enjoy afternoon tea. There is a back garden where you can sit outside and admire the beautiful scenery of Dianchi Back Sea.
After checking the recommendations on the 'Sunac Cultural Tourism Club' mini-program, I chose a comfortable hotel recommended there—Z Hotel.
Last week, Kunming suddenly cooled down. As soon as I entered the hotel, there was central heating. The entire lobby had an LED screen projecting sky lanterns all around. Next to the lobby was a tea room. The hotel's decoration style is very stylish, with a strong sense of design and a petit bourgeois feel. I quite liked it. There are few rooms, so it's very quiet, and the interiors are clean and tidy.
Today, I ate a lot and felt satisfied. I took a nice bath in the hotel, sat on the balcony at night to enjoy the night view, and tomorrow I'll continue exploring and checking in at more spots!
