A Perfect Journey: A Romantic Encounter with Dianchi Back Sea
For someone with procrastination, the Yunnan trip planned for a year finally kicked off during the National Day holiday. With the route planned, the first stop was Sunac Dianchi Back Sea in Kunming, where I met up with Jiajia (high school classmate) whom I hadn't seen for years!
I took a direct flight from Chongqing to Kunming. After landing and meeting up with my travel buddy, I headed straight to Sunac Dianchi Back Sea.
Tips: Carpooling costs about 30 yuan per person, saving both money and time; you can also take Metro Line 6 and then transfer to Bus 51, getting off at Dayukou Station.
Upon entering the gate of the small town, the "Sunac Cultural Tourism Club" mini-program caught my eye. After scanning it, I found that Sunac Dianchi Back Sea has everything for eating, drinking, and having fun. The mini-program is very thoughtful—hotel recommendations, parking locations... all solved with one tap. It truly deserves the title of "Smart Little Tour Guide."
The antique-style buildings and uniquely decorated shops made me linger. After strolling around, I didn't realize it was already 12:30, and my stomach was growling. I walked into Mingxia Spicy Chicken Restaurant. Looking at the menu, I couldn't wait. A piece of spicy chicken brought a burst of flavor; paired with a bowl of sweet and fragrant snowy pear vegetable chicken soup and sweet-and-sour ice jelly, the taste lingered in my mouth. It was truly a feast for the senses!
TIPS: Mingxia Spicy Chicken costs about 50 yuan per person, with generous portions—great value for money.
The claw machines at Huan You Carnival seemed magical to every young person. Seeing the arcade games at the entrance, Jiajia and I exchanged knowing smiles, remembering the stuffed toys we used to win. Today we were determined to "come back with a full load." After playing all the claw machines, we had to experience the joy of the ticket redemption machines! The thrill of watching tickets pour out was probably the happiest thing.
Tips: At the carnival, if you accumulate a certain number of tickets, you can redeem them for small gifts!
Following the street, we arrived at our booked hotel—Z Hotel.
The simple yet elegant facade stood out in this charming small town. Walking through the white pebbles into the hotel, the fragrance of lilies greeted us. The 3D wallpaper gave a dreamlike feeling. On both sides of the lobby were my favorite tea rooms. Behind the tea room was an open-air room that seemed to merge water and sky. Drinking tea there was absolutely beautiful! There were also the popular bubble rooms, perfect for photo ops.
Additionally, there was a book nook in the back where you could read, have coffee, and enjoy desserts... In the Kunming dialect I just learned, it was simply "amazing"! According to the staff, after 9 p.m., there are performances in the bubble rooms!
Tips: Worth recommending—the room's large terrace overlooks the street scenery, allowing you to fall asleep with the烟火 (fireworks) nearby. That feeling is wonderful.
Heading out and walking forward, I took in the ethnic-style scenery: the waterwheel, Yunnan Impression Grand Theater... As I approached Fuzhao Lou, the aroma of chicken soup tempted me. I stepped inside, where the fragrance filled every corner of the air, very enticing. I decided to have dinner there.
TIPS: Steamed pot chicken is Fuzhao Lou's specialty. Made with a unique method and Yunnan's sanqi (pseudo-ginseng), the original flavor of the chicken is perfectly preserved. Also, the papaya fish is refreshing and goes great with rice! The best part is that it costs only about 60 yuan per person!
A day passed quietly at Sunac Dianchi Back Sea, like the joy of meeting a new love, or the warmth of reuniting with an old friend...
Sunac Dianchi Back Sea, see you next time!
