Weekend Two-Day Trip Recommendation — Kunming Sunac Dianchi Houhai — A Must-Read for Travelers

As an office worker who has been working hard in Kunming for over two years, every weekend or holiday, my WeChat Moments were flooded with posts about Kunming Sunac Dianchi Houhai. So, on a leisurely weekend, I finally checked out this new internet-famous spot — Kunming Sunac Dianchi Houhai.

Two-day itinerary: Snow World — Sea World — Sunac Wanda Vista Hotel — Dianchi Houhai Commercial Street

Kunming, the Spring City, has a year-round spring-like climate, so I rarely ever saw snow growing up. You can imagine my excitement at Snow World! Not only can you see ice sculptures and go skiing, there are also many photogenic spots perfect for your social media — every shot is Instagram-worthy.

Tips:

1. First, pick up your ski suit and snow boots (the color of the suit depends on your height; I'm 165 cm and got an adorable pink one~).

2. Lockers are 20 yuan each, just scan the QR code, very convenient for storage.

3. Opening hours: 10:30–21:00 (since I love to sleep in, this opening time was perfect — I could get a full sleep before heading out).

4. 3-hour ticket price: 208 yuan (I bought it in advance on the “Sunac Cultural Tourism Club” mini-program).

Because I'm on a diet, I usually skip lunch. I just had some juice I brought and immediately headed to Kunming Sunac Sea World.

☆☆☆☆ Flying Over Yunnan:

This is a must-do attraction at Sea World, highly recommended!! With 5D naked-eye aerial views, you can take in the magnificent landscapes of Yunnan, getting up close to the Yuanyang Rice Terraces, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the Xishuangbanna Water-Splashing Festival, and more. From a god’s-eye perspective, I experienced the Yunnan I've always dreamed of~

☆☆☆ Beluga Love Show:

A trainer and two belugas perform together underwater, complemented by fantastic underwater lighting effects, truly like a love story between humans and belugas. Especially the belugas' calls and the moment they leap out of the water, I was deeply moved.

3 Sunac Wanda Vista Hotel

If you, like me, value quality of life, you absolutely must choose the Sunac Wanda Vista Hotel. Its grand, classical oriental architecture is full of traditional Chinese aesthetics. All rooms are six-star-level villas. The butler service is excellent, privacy is superb, and someone takes care of you from check-in to check-out. As someone without a boyfriend, that felt very heartwarming.

4 Dianchi Houhai Commercial Street

Exploration route: Sanyue Street — Saka Street — Jishan Square — Jingzhen Street

Kunming Sunac Dianchi Houhai Commercial Street is an open-plan shopping street. Strolling along, you'll encounter cultural elements of the Bai, Miao, Naxi, Hani, Dai, Yi, and other ethnic groups. Sanyue Street and Saka Street are the food hubs of the whole street — a must-visit for foodies!

Jishan Square is a spot I've seen often in my WeChat Moments; many events are held there. Unfortunately, I missed one this time, so I just took a photo with the peace doves to keep and will check out next time~

On Jingzhen Street, every detail — peacocks, elephants, phoenixes, treasure vases, flowers, stilted houses — displays a colorful, enchanting life, brimming with traditional crafts and ethnic customs. Tie-dye, Miao silver, wood carving, purple pottery, Yunnan embroidery, rattan and bamboo, roasted tea... These intangible cultural heritage shops offer the best hands-on experience~ Highly recommended!
