Macau Tour - Experiencing the Charm of Tradition and Modernity
A city where East meets West always leaves many special memories. A city where East meets West always has different colors, leaving very unique and interesting imprints.
Macau is exactly such a city. Although this city has the glamorous coat of a sleepless city, within it, there is still a lot of history, a lot of memories.
Macau has reopened, and whether you go to Macau from the Zhuhai port or from the air port, it is very convenient. Especially from Guangzhou to Macau, taking the intercity rail directly to Gongbei Port and then crossing the border to Macau is very easy.
So I came to this city again to feel its flavor. Long time no see, the flavor remains.
1. For the travel permit endorsement, you need to make an appointment in advance at the local exit-entry authority counter.
2. Prepare a nucleic acid test report within one week in advance.
3. Do not travel to high-risk areas within 14 days.
4. In Macau, except for taking buses, you can basically use WeChat or Alipay for payment, so just bring a small amount of Hong Kong dollars or Macanese patacas for emergencies.
5. November is the Light Festival in Macau. In many places in Macau, you will encounter Light Festival installations, which are beautifully decorated. Experiencing the city's flavor through lights is also a very interesting experience.

D3: The Parisian Macao - Macao Science Center - Guangzhou
It is quite convenient to take the Guangzhou-Zhuhai intercity rail from Guangzhou to Macau. Starting from Guangzhou, it takes about an hour to reach Gongbei Port in Zhuhai. I thought it would take a lot of time to check the nucleic acid test result when crossing the border, but unexpectedly, the test result was directly linked to the health code, so the border crossing speed was not affected at all.
After crossing the border, there are free hotel shuttle buses to take you to your destination hotel, very convenient.
For the first stop here, I chose The Venetian Macao.
The Venetian Macao has always been a very famous luxury hotel in Macau. The hotel is designed in an Italian style, recreating the scene of the Venetian Renaissance in Italy. Walking into the hotel, you get a wonderful feeling of entering an art palace.
At The Venetian Macao, you can even take a gondola ride inside the hotel and experience the feeling of gliding on the Grand Canal.
This time at The Venetian Macao, I came specifically for the teamLab SuperNature Macao here.
I have always heard that teamLab SuperNature is very interesting, creating a wonderful world with sound, light, shadow, and fragrance. In fact, many exhibitions use a pop-up mode, but at The Venetian Macao, it is a permanent exhibition hall. Several thousand square meters of exhibition space within the artistic hotel form a marvelous space like an independent universe.
Walking into the exhibition hall, first you see a huge space themed around the four seasons.
Here, you can see the changing scenery of the four seasons, a world constructed with light and shadow effects is truly marvelous.
Standing here, you can see flowers bloom and wither, spring buds and autumn leaves, and as the scene changes, the fragrance in the air also changes continuously. Immersed in it, it feels very magical.
The exhibition hall has different themes, from the four seasons to ink paintings, and then to the wind, forest, fire, and mountain of traditional Chinese cultural imagery, all can be encountered here.
There are also many interactive immersive experiences, such as "Manually Trigger the Big Bang." Experiencing the transformation of the Milky Way here is very interesting.
Travel tips:
1. Everyone's playtime here varies, but it is recommended to leave at least 2 hours for visiting.
2. No flash photography inside.
3. Because there are a lot of mirrored reflective floors, it is best not to wear short skirts (if you do, you can borrow a wrap at the service desk).
D2: Ruins of St. Paul's - Macao Museum - Galaxy Hotel Diamond Lobby
On the second day, my first stop was the Ruins of St. Paul's.
If there is a landmark in Macau, the Ruins of St. Paul's is definitely the top choice. This place, which survived a great fire and now only has its front facade, has witnessed so much of Macau's history and changes, and still stands in the old town of Macau.
The area around the Ruins of St. Paul's is a pedestrian zone. From the drop-off point to the Ruins, it is less than a kilometer of walking.
Actually, walking there is quite interesting. The streets and buildings here have a unique charm. Perhaps at some corner, you will encounter bright colors.
Many of the small shops on both sides sell Macau specialty souvenirs. Walking along, enthusiastic shop owners often offer free samples of almond cookies, dried meat, etc. It is quite a unique sight.
The Ruins of St. Paul's is actually the remains of St. Paul's College and the Church of St. Paul in Macau. This church, built in 1580, endured a great fire and witnessed the vicissitudes of time. Now only the front wall remains. But this wall still shows exquisite carvings, standing steadfast amidst the changes in Macau's old town.
Next to the Ruins of St. Paul's is the Macao Museum.
A museum always records the changes of a city. Taking a little time to visit a city's museum and learn about its past and history is also very interesting.
Entering the Macao Museum, you first see the bronze ware exhibition hall. Then as you go up, it's like opening a time scroll. As the years change, various exhibits appear before your eyes, up to modern times.
Here, it is very special that the exhibition hall also includes miniature buildings, life scenes, and other arrangements, very exquisite.
Travel tips:
1. The Macao Museum is closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so remember to check the time.
2. The Macao Museum has escalators, which is the most convenient way to reach the Monte Fort.
3. The Macao Museum is free of charge.
At the exit of the Macao Museum, leaving the museum is the Monte Fort.
The Monte Fort was originally built to protect the priests of St. Paul's College and to defend against pirates. Later, it became the core of Macau's defense. This fort protected Macau's peace and witnessed its turbulent times. Today, it is still well-preserved.
From the Monte Fort, you can overlook the scenery of Macau's old town. On one side are low old houses, with boats bustling on the Haojiang River, while on the other side are various specially designed high-rise buildings. These two completely different scenes outline the flavor of this city. This collision of the old and new is also the most touching scenery of Macau.
In the evening, I returned to the Galaxy Hotel in Taipa. As another luxury hotel in Macau, the lobby design of Galaxy Hotel is also highly artistic.
In the Diamond Lobby, diamond design elements can be seen everywhere.
In the center of the fountain is a huge diamond. On the walls and sculptures here, if you look closely, you can find diamond decorations. Under the lighting, various diamond ornaments sparkle brilliantly. Walking through it, you really feel surrounded by diamonds.
Here, a diamond show is performed regularly. With the music, the lights become more dynamic and sparkling. The fountain also changes shapes, and the largest diamond rises from the fountain, shining with colorful light, especially moving.
DAY3: The Parisian Macao - Macao Science Center - Guangzhou
On the last day in Macau, I decided to check out The Parisian Macao.
The Parisian Macao is also located in Taipa, Macau, with Paris as its design theme and the Eiffel Tower as its landmark, very distinctive.
The Champagne Suite at The Parisian Macao is spacious, divided into bedroom and living room, which is quite luxurious in land-scarce Macau.
The room is designed in cream white, giving a high-end feel.
From the room window, you can directly see the Eiffel Tower outside.
The most eye-catching feature of The Parisian Macao is definitely the Eiffel Tower here.
This Eiffel Tower is half the height of the Paris Eiffel Tower, and it is also the largest replica of the Eiffel Tower.
Walking along the path at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the statues and decorations along the way are full of Parisian romance and style.
The Eiffel Tower has 27 floors. At the top, you can see the full view of The Parisian Macao, with its special design resembling a Parisian art palace. From here, you can also overlook most of Taipa. Stopping here and slowly appreciating the prosperity of Taipa, or if it is evening, watching the sunset, is a very wonderful experience.
Macao Science Center
For the last stop in Macau, I chose the Macao Science Center.
In front of the Macao Science Center, the building itself is already very eye-catching. The white museum by the seaside has a stylish and distinctive design, and even the trees are trimmed into heart shapes, making it worth taking beautiful photos.
Entering the Science Center, you are instantly attracted by the interesting atmosphere. AI robots are used as guides. Whether you want to know anything about the Science Center, you can communicate with the AI robot through voice interaction, very cute.
Inside the Science Center, it is a clean and science-filled space. Several floors are not designed with traditional floor divisions; the middle is open, and you can directly see the ceiling, which is very unique.
Around the atrium are different themed exhibition halls. From space science to basic physics to sports science, everything can be experienced here.
Coming here, you can feel the joy of science. When I was in school, studying physics and other subjects always gave me a headache, but here, science becomes very interesting.
The exhibition halls here use very interesting presentation modes, from short films to various models that you can operate yourself, making science lively and fun.
Moreover, there are many arcade games here, where you can experience the fun of science through games and feel the charm of science. Whether racing on a track or participating in various sports, it is a very interesting experience.
Travel tips:
1. The Science Center ticket is 25 Macanese patacas per person, payable via Alipay or WeChat.
2. There are various interesting projects in the Science Center, so remember to leave more time and queue in order.
3. Masks must be worn to enter the venue.
Leaving the Macao Science Center, my trip to Macau ended.
In Macau, a place with both tradition and modernity, there are always many surprises waiting to be discovered. Every time I come to Macau, I have different discoveries and find different beauties.
The charm of Macau lies not only in its prosperity but also in its traditional flavor, a fusion of East and West.
Finally, let me remind you: currently, the epidemic situation in Macau is relatively controlled, and with corresponding prevention measures, tourists can safely visit Macau for travel. Mainland tourists meeting Macau's epidemic prevention conditions can travel to and from Macau without quarantine by bringing a negative nucleic acid test certificate valid within 7 days. For details, refer to the latest guidelines from the Macau Health Bureau.
