Peach Blossom Pool is a section of the Qingyi River, a tributary of the Yangtze River, and a historic site. It lies between Zhai and Wan villages in Peach Blossom Pool Town, 40 kilometers west of Jing County, Anhui Province. The pool is deep and emerald, crystal clear, with green peaks reflected in the water, creating a picturesque landscape. The Tang dynasty poet Li Bai's poem "To Wang Lun" made the pool famous and turned it into a historic landmark.
A winter-exclusive delicacy at Peach Blossom Pool is the cured meat with hand-peeled winter bamboo shoots. Starting from Bailu (White Dew), winter bamboo shoots begin to sprout from the ground. Nourished by this land, the shoots are tender and delicious. Cooked with farmhouse cured meat, they yield a savory broth, full of heartwarming flavor.
Less than 20 kilometers from Peach Blossom Pool lies Zhaji Ancient Village, nestled among the mountains at the northern foot of the Huangshan range. Crisscrossing paths, small bridges over flowing water, traditional dwellings, solemn ancestral halls, and towering ancient trees. The local cuisine belongs to Anhui cuisine, one of the eight great culinary traditions. But its flavors carry a strong sense of rustic hearth. The bright red stir-fried free-range chicken, the refreshing sour bamboo shoots with cured pork, the light stir-fried mushrooms — though not as refined as in big cities, they have a unique countryside taste.
Moon Bay Scenic Area is located in Dakang Village, Caicun Town, 18 kilometers from Jing County town. It boasts stunning natural scenery: towering green mountains and a quietly flowing river, with only the occasional sound of boatmen's chants in the distance. It has been the filming location for many movies and TV dramas, such as "Reconnaissance Across the Yangtze" and "Laughter in Moon Bay."
Jing County beef noodles are similar to Lanzhou pulled noodles, but with a different taste. The broth is richer, and the beef is large chunks of braised brisket, more savory and delicious. The soup is a bone broth made from beef. A bowl of noodles offers the original flavor of the ingredients.
