One-Day Tour of Zhangshan Grand Canyon
On the morning of October 4th, in Yuchuan Village, Fuling Town, there was a light mist, the air was fresh, and it was refreshing. A new day began. Travel is about enjoying the scenery along the way, feeling the changing landscapes, houses, and people. Every blade of grass, every tree, every object, and every scene came alive, making me sigh at how wonderful the world is!
Two members of our team actually walked 2 kilometers early in the morning to the entrance of the Huihang Ancient Path to take a look. They were really energetic and strong.
This farm stay had no sign at all, but it was full of guests—unbeatable. We sat by the stream waiting for breakfast: these bamboo chairs were nice.
The landlady escorted us to the parking lot at the village entrance, saying that there were very few young people left in the village. The outside world is exciting, so they all left. It's the same everywhere; it's an inevitable result of economic development (urbanization rate will inevitably increase). Who would want to stay in a small mountain village for a lifetime? We go on a trip to see something new, but if we had to stay for a week, we'd probably want to run away.
An old couple accompanied each other, walking on this bamboo bridge. The old man kept holding the old lady's hand. They were going to hike the Huihang Ancient Path—impressive. The boss's father led the way for them.
The cozy room we stayed in last night:
After breakfast, we headed to Zhangshan Grand Canyon. On the way, a woman in our group had a skin allergy, so we went to Shuicun Village to find a clinic:
In the picture, the black-tiled house ahead is the clinic, but unfortunately no one was working today. However, we got to visit Shuicun Village.
The main road in the village: There is a pharmacy straight ahead.
After buying the medicine, we went straight to Zhangshan Grand Canyon: located in the southeast of Jixi County, Anhui Province, 22 kilometers from the county seat. It is a national nature reserve. In this natural and pristine environment, there are not only a large number of rare animals and plants, but also more than 50 scenic spots with their own characteristics—a great place for leisure and sightseeing.
The parking lot was unpaved. When the wind blew, dust flew everywhere, which was a bit unworthy of the 4A scenic spot title.
The ticket hall: On-site ticket price was 55, online was 47. Manager Gao decisively bought online, and we all agreed.
The entrance to the scenic area: You can enter from here and go down the canyon to visit. After reaching the exit, you can take the scenic area shuttle bus back to the parking lot. Of course, if you're not satisfied and don't want to pay the 10-yuan fare, you can return the same way. We took the scenic area bus for 10 yuan per person directly to the exit to tour upwards.
Arrived at the parking lot at the exit in about 10 minutes:
The five-star red flag fluttered in the wind:
Buy some, comrades:
Checked tickets and entered the canyon:
No turning back—clear instructions. It seems we took the back door:
Entering the canyon, cool breezes blew, and the water flow was okay. If there had been a light rain, the misty air would have added more atmosphere.
Main attractions include: Mao Zedong Stone Statue → Rhinoceros Playing in Water → Zhangshan Layered Green → Divine Horse Eating Grass → Small Heavenly Gate → Butterfly Pool → Divine Turtle Carrying Stone → Crown Flowering → Heavenly Gate Opens → Dragon Gate Spring → Dragon and Phoenix Auspiciousness → Phoenix Swinging Tail → Stone Coffin → Bai Zhang Rock Moonlight → Bai Zhang Rock Buddha Light → Bai Zhang Rock → Gourd Pool → etc.
Zhangshan Grand Canyon, also known as 'Great Man Valley,' covers an area of about 15 square kilometers. It is the southern gate of Qingliangfeng National Nature Reserve.
The 'Great Man Stone Statue, Bai Zhang Rock, Gourd Pool, and Crown Flowering' are known as the four wonders. The picture shows Bai Zhang Rock: 'The world's largest rock,' Bai Zhang Rock is a highlight of the scenic area, 460 meters high and 180 meters wide, like a giant bell covering the ground, towering into the sky. After rain, when the sky clears, Buddha light appears—truly a marvel.
The canyon was awe-inspiring: It hadn't rained for three months, yet there was still water flowing in the canyon. Where did it come from?
Zhangshan Grand Canyon has endless natural legends, depending on your imagination.
Natural wonders always appear unexpectedly.
But you can't just marvel at the scenery; you also need to understand the commentary.
This is a place of excitement, joy, health, and longevity, with strange pools and bizarre rocks:
The plank road was close to the canyon and worth seeing.
The water flow wasn't very strong.
Jutting out, towering—a single pillar reaching the sky. I wonder if anyone has ever climbed it.
There were many scenic spots, and the descriptions were quite detailed.
This shooting angle was not bad:
There were steps along the canyon for walking tours. Since the water was low this time, we definitely walked along the canyon:
The water flowed with the canyon, and people walked on the water—this is the experience not to be missed for those close to nature.
Every step had a view, every spot was worth stopping.
This is the joy of crossing the canyon—leaping, jumping, turning, with freedom and delight. That's our group of six, taking the unconventional path.
A lifetime is only a hundred years, a flash in the pan in the long river of history. Daily life is just oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, and tea. So we must find some happiness and excitement in ordinary life. Travel is a great way, even the simplest and smallest joy is worthwhile.
The main tourist route of the scenic area winds along the water for about 3 kilometers. The peaks are stacked, clouds and mist linger, and the stream water in the valley is clear, pure, and quiet.
A random shot—I wonder who these two ladies are. If they see this travelogue, they can copy and paste the photo.
A small wooden stick can also be very useful.
Dragon bone—I remember last National Day, I had lunch on the dragon bone at Shitai Seven-Colored Jade Valley. Time flies, a year has passed in the blink of an eye...
Unique pines, strange rocks, and beautiful women:
Wandering in the embrace of nature, at this moment, the spirit can truly fly freely...
Good times always pass quickly. Before I knew it, it was nearly noon, time to prepare lunch.
After several hours of trekking, lazily waiting for lunch in this picturesque canyon, both body and mind were well relaxed.
In the fairy-tale world of strange rocks in Zhangshan Grand Canyon, the Mao Zedong stone statue formed over 100 million years is truly a wonder. The Mao Zedong stone statue sits on the bank of the Zhang River, facing north. It is 3.83 meters high, with a swept-back hairstyle, a full forehead, and wise eyes, closely resembling the side profile of the great man in his later years.
The beauty is forty-nine this year, vacationing in the canyon during National Day; casually throwing a stone, stirring up a string of ripples.
Arrived at the exit half an hour after lunch.
The beauty walked briskly: discovering the magnificent scenery along the way with her eyes, feeling the power of progress with her heart.
Tourist map: We had plenty of time and toured leisurely, taking 3.5 hours.
Carrying the heroic spirit of the great man (stone statue) and the spiritual energy of the wonderful mountains and waters, treading on the muddy road of the parking lot, we reluctantly bid farewell to Zhangshan Grand Canyon.
Originally planned to visit Shangcun Village in the afternoon, but to ensure we had a 48-hour nucleic acid test certificate for the return trip tomorrow afternoon, our group rushed to Jixi County town. First went to the Public Health Service Center, but it was closed on National Day—a wasted trip.
The courtyard environment was nice, so we visited it:
We drove through Jixi County town again. This town, originally with strong Huizhou characteristics, has become just like a thousand other cities...
Arrived at the free nucleic acid testing point at the Government Square: Probably the new government building.
Hurriedly joined the queue:
A long line waiting for testing: waited half an hour before getting tested.
After the nucleic acid test, it was already 3 PM. Then we would have to visit Shangcun Village and go to Xuancheng—time was tight, and it started to drizzle. We unanimously agreed to postpone Shangcun Village to next time and head straight to Xuancheng:
Arrived in Xuancheng at around 6 PM. Not going to Shangcun was a wise decision.
As usual, I lay down to rest—you ladies keep busy.
After 20 minutes of rest, went out to eat. In the evening, the urban area of Xuancheng was drizzling and a bit chilly. It hadn't rained for three months. I hope it rains in Jixi too.
Turned the corner and met you: Private kitchen restaurant. I'll eat you tonight.
Finished dinner in 1.5 hours, then strolled around.
Mother's taste: Need to go home tomorrow to see my dear dad and mom. Both are 88 years old and still in good health—thank God!
These are my dad and mom. They have given me a full heart and firm strength to move forward!
Mom, with a serious face and admiring eyes, was listening to Dad talk about the current Russia-Ukraine situation. Although they are old, their concern for national and world affairs is no less than that of young people... So for the elderly to live long, maintaining interest and enthusiasm for things is very beneficial.
The rainy autumn urban area of Xuancheng—let me feel it.
The ladies browsed clothing stores. Nearly 9 PM, we returned to the guest room. A full day's itinerary—time to rest well. See you tomorrow.
