Visiting the China Xuan Paper Museum in the Hometown of Xuan Paper
In early July this year, we traveled to Jing County, Xuancheng. On July 7, we checked into the Han-Tang Paper Workshop in Dingjiaqiao Town, the birthplace of Xuan paper. On July 8, we went to the China Xuan Paper Museum. This museum is a key cultural project invested by 'Red Star Xuan' and is also the first systematic comprehensive Xuan paper museum in China.
Xuan paper is one of the important Four Treasures of the Study. We saw an introduction to the production process of Xuan paper, with workers dressed in old-style clothing demonstrating the papermaking on-site. This place is quite suitable for experiential tourism. Although we only had a quick glance, we still experienced a concise lesson on the birth of Xuan paper.
Xuancheng, named after Xuan paper, makes it necessary to experience the legendary stories of this precious item throughout history. At the museum, you can also watch a video of the largest Xuan paper being produced. It is said that this three-zhang-three (33-foot) Xuan paper is only made a few times a year. Without the chance to see it in person, watching the video to feast our eyes is still a fortunate thing.
