Jixi County is a mountainous county located in the southern part of Anhui Province, at the eastern foot of Mount Huangshan. Jixi gets its name from water. According to the county annals, 'To the north of the county, there is Ruxi Stream and Huixi Stream, which flow side by side about one li apart, then separate and merge again, resembling the twisting of threads (ji), hence the name Jixi.'
