Did you stay in Jingzhou for this Spring Festival? If so, you're incredibly lucky!
As the saying goes, 'Whether rich or poor, go home for the New Year,' but this Spring Festival is different — many places have issued initiatives to celebrate the holiday locally. In response to the initiative, and to ensure that those staying local can feel at ease, comfortable, and happy, the Jingzhou Garden Expo Park, together with Xi'an's Tang Paradise, hosted the second Spring Festival Lantern Show, offering a colorful cultural feast for the New Year. And this feast officially began last night.
Around 7 p.m. last night, as night fell, the 2021 Jingzhou Garden Expo Park Second Spring Festival Lantern Show was officially lit. During the lighting ceremony, a distinctive opening dance caught everyone's attention and drew applause. But what followed was even more stunning: as the countdown sounded, a cascade of fireworks poured down, dazzling the crowd and stirring excitement. Graceful dances, fireworks filling the sky, a brilliant night... such a grand lighting ceremony only heightened expectations for the lantern show itself.
After the spectacular lighting ceremony, the Garden Expo Park's Spring Festival Lantern Show, which will last over a month, officially began. Although the weather didn't cooperate, with a drizzling rain and a slight chilly wind, it still couldn't dampen people's enthusiasm for viewing the lanterns.
This year's lantern show features five major lantern groups: Spring Night Garden Tour, Striving Jingzhou, China's Power, Memories of Jingchu, and Tech Jingzhou, comprising 43 lantern sets in total. Each lantern group has its own theme, and each set carries a beautiful meaning. For example, 'Spring Night Garden Tour' uses a layout with varied density and rhythmic spacing to create a lively and festive Spring Festival atmosphere. As visitors stroll, wherever they look, they are greeted with a strong sense of the New Year: the 'Year of the Ox, Great Fortune' lantern set takes the shape of ancient Chinese characters, blended with festive vibes to offer a unique experience; the 'Great Luck and Prosperity' lantern set uses golden oranges to symbolize good fortune, wishing everyone luck and prosperity; the 'Harmony and Beauty' lantern set uses the homophone of 'lotus' (he) to wish families harmony and happiness in all things...
There are too many lantern sets to introduce one by one within limited space; more wonders await your own discovery. Besides the lantern displays, the show also features dazzling light shows, trendy performances, special local cuisine, stylish photo spots, and more. This Spring Festival, those spending the holiday in Jingzhou will have no shortage of places to have fun!
