On February 4th, the day of Xiao Nian (Little New Year) in the lunar calendar, as night fell, the lantern show at the Garden Expo Park lit up as promised, with brilliant lights beautifying the night sky, adding a strong festive atmosphere to the entire park. In Jingzhou, the Spring Festival of 2021 kicked off the carnival starting from Xiao Nian at the Garden Expo Park.
This year's lantern show, exclusively titled by Quchi Dongyuan, is the second Spring Festival lantern show at the Jingzhou Garden Expo Park. Last year, Jingzhou Garden Expo Park joined hands with Xi'an Tang Paradise to create a "Twin Cities, Twin Parks" Spring Festival lantern show, presenting a historical and cultural interaction spanning thousands of years and thousands of miles. Its successful launch provided citizens and tourists with a comprehensive tourism experience, offered the most lively and festive entertainment feast for the Spring Festival, and established a new annual folk cultural brand for Jingzhou, strongly promoting the integrated development of Jingzhou's cultural tourism. Building on last year's successful experience, the two sides "rekindle their connection" this year, surely advancing even further, making the Garden Expo Park a must-visit destination for Jingzhou's New Year.
After the lighting ceremony accompanied by dance, drumbeats, and fireworks, the colorful lanterns were illuminated, and the entire Garden Expo Park instantly became a dazzling sea of light, full of beautiful sights. These lanterns, centered on "traditional Jingchu culture, annual folk culture, and trendy pop culture," blend traditional ancient style with modern fashion. They feature ancient folk tales and traditional auspicious elements, while innovatively incorporating technology, anti-epidemic, and cartoon elements. Each shape carries beautiful meanings, lifelike and rich in symbolism: "Dancing Butterflies," "Dreamy Water Village," "Niu Zhuan Qian Kun (Turning the Tide)" – the strong Chinese style and folk atmosphere are utterly enchanting; "Responsibility to Guard the Territory," "My Motherland and I," "Happy New Year" – evoke an indescribable sense of pride, honor, and mission; "Phoenix Arrives," "Yunmeng Jingchu" – trace back to the legendary roots of Jingchu memories, awakening people's understanding of Chu culture...
The magnificent lanterns present a visual feast for the citizens, and a feast for the taste buds is equally indispensable! During the lantern show, lamb skewers, glutinous rice cakes, stinky tofu, fish cake, fried lotus root balls... special delicacies from various regions gather in the food interactive area, making people's mouths water. Not only that, but this lantern show also brings folk performances, trendy bands, cultural parades, Guochao (Chinese trend) experiences, and internet-famous photo spots to the event site, meeting the diverse needs of visitors and offering a comprehensive, multi-layered park experience.
In 2021, Jingzhou Garden Expo Park and Xi'an Tang Paradise have joined forces once again. The culture of the Tang Dynasty and Jingchu culture blend together, tradition and new trends converge here, presenting a rich Spring Festival folk cultural feast during the holiday. This fully responds to the national call, under the premise of effective epidemic prevention measures, to host diverse artistic activities, enrich spiritual and cultural life, and make those who stay local for the New Year more comfortable.
