For some people, Odaiba in Tokyo is just a place for shopping and tourism. But for others, it is infinity, it is a dream, it is a place seen many times in childhood, a place that can bring tears to your eyes and stir your heart. "I've seen this place on TV so many times, twenty years late, but today I finally made it." It might just be a street scene that some pass by quickly, while others stop and linger, stirring memories of 1999, memories from twenty years ago. We, as children, stood in front of the TV, here, fighting together against Myotismon, cheering for Agumon, crying for Wizardmon. We are all children who were once summoned. Fortunately, I made up my mind to go to Tokyo in 2019, otherwise in 2020 there would be no chance at all. I mostly stayed in Inaricho because it's close to Akihabara and Asakusa, and the cost is relatively cheap. The two days I spent in Odaiba, I stayed there. Waking up early, I took a few stops to Azumabashi in Asakusa to catch a boat. Unfortunately, I arrived late; the next direct boat to Odaiba wouldn't leave until noon, and time was precious. So I took the next fastest departing boat, first to Hinode Pier, then took the monorail to Odaiba. There are two ways to get to Odaiba: one is by transferring on the monorail, the other is by boat. I recommend taking the boat to enjoy the scenery and relax. There is also a guide on board (but in Japanese, which I couldn't understand). The key point is that by boat, you can follow the route Joe and T.K. took, where T.K. under the Rainbow Bridge, the Crest of Reliability glowed, and Gomamon evolved into Vikemon to fight MegaSeadramon! It was a cloudy, drizzly day with heavy fog, very similar to the heavy fog on that day in 1999. It really felt like Myotismon was causing trouble and Seadramon was lurking underwater. My heart was trembling with emotion, truly. The monorail passed under the Rainbow Bridge and arrived at Odaiba. Stepping out of the station, I was already in the world of Digimon – only you could perceive it. If you are like me, who once saw this place in your dreams, come with the pictures to see it, to see the battle of '99. It turns out this place was right next to my hotel! Yes! From the hotel, you could see the place where Myotismon once held the hostages! I couldn't wait to go over. It's actually on the second floor; this is where Greymon saved everyone back then! (I even brought Agumon with me!) In my hand is Agumon, and I took a picture imitating Taichi's pose (please don't mock me, covering my face). And what's on the first floor? You'll know when you see it! Anyone who has seen the show will remember this saw! Right here, Mimi shed pure tears, awakening the Crest of Sincerity, allowing Togemon to evolve into Lilymon! Twenty-one years later, the saw is still there, but Lilymon is not, and I have grown into an adult. Walking further, you can see the Ferris wheel in the distance. This Ferris wheel appears often in Digimon, but later it was destroyed by VenomMyotismon. That's right, it was here that Agumon and Gabumon first evolved into their Mega forms, fought VenomMyotismon, and destroyed this Ferris wheel. Continuing on, I passed a station – a completely unremarkable place. This is where Taichi stayed when he first returned to the real world, and nearby, Taichi decided to leave Hikari and ascend into the sky to return to the Digital World! Still walking towards the Rainbow Bridge over Tokyo Bay, I could see this building in the distance. Anyone who knows Digimon will recognize this building – Fuji Television. It was invaded by Bakemon, this sphere was used by WarGreymon as a soccer ball, Lilymon evolved here in a flash, and this is where Wizardmon met his end... Should I pay my respects to Wizardmon? Next, I arrived. I arrived, I arrived, right here, breaking through the dimensional wall to get here – I am standing at the door of Taichi's house. I really want to knock and ask, "Is Taichi Yagami home?" ... Tears filled my eyes. Maybe Taichi had gone out, to the convenience store downstairs. So I followed to the convenience store hoping to find him, right here... It was perfectly synchronized with the anime. Unfortunately, it was evening, and the Ferris wheel in the distance was no longer visible. So I left, touched and regretful, heading to Tokyo Bay... all the way to the seaside. I looked into the distance, and finally knew where Taichi had gone. Here, he must have gone to the Digital World again. These two buildings are exactly the same as in the anime. I wonder if the children living inside ever believed that the rooftop of their home was a gateway to the Digital World... Looking at the Rainbow Bridge in the distance, I seemed to see the traces of Ikkakumon swimming with the eight children just now, and I wished I could follow them... Today I walked around Odaiba all day, bought nothing, visited no malls. In others' eyes, I might have been wandering aimlessly. But in the hearts of the Chosen Children, this was a precious journey. It was like returning to the self of twenty years ago, walking here again with Taichi and the beloved Digimon, fighting together against Myotismon, striving to activate our own individual Crests, meeting our once pure selves again in adulthood – a sincere and flawless emotion... and together, from the moment Mimi's hat flew up, that passage of time. Attached: I found a complete set of out-of-print Digimon figures in Akihabara – you can no longer find a full set on Taobao, but here I found one at an amazingly reasonable price. I absolutely love them. I used to dream of visiting this place, and now I've finally made it. I felt a thrilling emotion in my heart. In the adult world of work, overtime, socializing, and living, I eventually saved up the money and decided to make this trip to Odaiba! Some might call it childish, but I am pursuing something precious in my heart. Why should I care what others think? It vividly reminded me of courage, friendship, knowledge, honesty, sincerity, love, light, and hope. These are not just empty words as in some domestic cartoons; they are perfectly engraved in our childhood hearts through each character. This is what courage really is. This is what sincere tears are. If I have a child, I will definitely let him watch Digimon. I hope that when he grows up, he won't inherit the cunning and cowardice of Bald Qiang (from Pleasant Goat), but rather inherit Taichi's Crest of Courage, as well as friendship, knowledge... At first, I felt a bit embarrassed taking photos there, but in the end, I gathered the courage to do it. I believe I am certainly not the only one here to commemorate Digimon, and I also believe that if I hadn't let myself go, I would regret it after returning home. This is something that records my childhood, twenty years of emotion coming here today – why should I be timid? I don't know if any Digimon fans will read this, but I truly hope my travelogue can bring something to everyone. Whether it's like-minded friends or infinite memories. If it feels right, please give a like – not to trick likes, but because I want to see many people like me who still love Digimon. Finally, a PS: There are actually two pilgrimages in Odaiba. One is today's Digimon, the other is tomorrow's Gundam Base (I'll write about it separately). The emotion from Digimon hasn't ended yet – when I saw the 1:1 Unicorn Gundam, I was instantly moved again... See you in the next post! Travelogue Index: 1. "I've seen this place on TV so many times, twenty years late, but today I finally made it." 2. Arriving at Taichi and the others' home, the place of the battle – Odaiba. 3. Final thoughts.
