1️⃣ Wachau: It is the Danube Valley between Melk and Krems an der Donau in Lower Austria, 80 km from Vienna. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its charming landscape, it is a popular choice for a day trip from Vienna. Then you can visit Stift Melk Abbey.
2️⃣ Eisenstadt: About an hour's drive from Vienna, Austria's greatest composer Joseph Haydn lived here for many years. His house is now a museum commemorating his life and times (he is buried in Bergkirche above the town). You can visit the old town Freistadt (Free Town), walking through the three long streets off the main square—Hauptstrasse, Pfarrgasse, and Haydngasse. Here there is the 17th-century town hall, and then you can visit Schloss Esterházy.
