Innovative Platforms and Competition-Driven Growth: Langfang Accelerates B&B Industry Development
On November 12, the 5-month-long 4th Langfang Most Beautiful B&B Competition concluded at Tiandu Hotel. Among the winners, Zizai Tea House in Guangyang District, Haitang Dieyuan No. 3 Courtyard in Gu'an County, Guixin Pear Garden Boutique B&B in Sanhe City, and Haitang Residence B&B in Anci District stood out, winning first, second, and third prizes respectively.
The competition was hosted by Langfang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, and co-organized by cultural and tourism departments from various counties (cities, districts). It aimed to promote the development of distinctive themed B&B projects, continuously expand the 'B&B+' industry model, improve operational management and overall revenue, and strive to build Langfang's original independent B&B brand, enhance the rural tourism brand, and support rural revitalization.
Since its launch in June, a total of 51 projects registered for the competition. After rounds of training, field inspections, preliminary evaluations, and study tours, 20 projects stood out and entered the finals.
To ensure professionalism and fairness, the competition committee specially invited four professionals to form the jury. To enhance the competition's influence, an online voting campaign was conducted for the participating projects, attracting 48,000 participants. During the final, teams presented promotional videos, PPT demonstrations, and interactive Q&A sessions. The judges scored on-site based on five criteria: surrounding facilities, standardized management, distinctive features, promotion and marketing, and operational services.
The first-prize winner, Guangyang Zizai Tea House, was designed around expanding tea culture—through tea, highlighting tea, and imbuing the space with cultural depth, meaning, and atmosphere. 'I want people entering the B&B to feel nature and relax their mindset,' said the designer, Yang Jin.
B&Bs are a key driver for rural tourism development and a powerful force in implementing the rural revitalization strategy. In recent years, the Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism has closely followed national policies, carefully planned based on local conditions, and explored Langfang's path for rural tourism development. The Langfang Most Beautiful B&B Competition is an innovative move for rural tourism. Since 2016, Langfang has successfully held four editions. The competition uses specialized training and study tours to enhance B&B operators' understanding of this emerging tourism sector. In the past two years, under the guidance of the competition, the city's B&B industry has flourished, now boasting over 200 B&Bs with various themes and types, providing strong support for the rapid development of rural tourism and serving as a exemplary model.
Next, the Municipal Bureau will promote and implement the competition results, focus on improving B&B quality, and create a batch of distinctive boutique B&Bs rich in cultural and creative elements. It will also increase financial support, improve supporting facilities, and further standardize and professionalize B&B management and operations.
