Hebei Calligraphy Master Guo Wanlu’s Works: Taking Method from Stele Inscriptions, with Elegant Charm Infused into the Bones
Guo Wanlu, originally named Jianlu, courtesy name Mo Fo, art name Xiufu Jushi, now resides in Beijing. He is a professional calligrapher and painter. Born in 1972 in Wen'an County, Hebei Province. He is a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, a member of the Dongcheng Calligraphers Association in Beijing, a national-gift calligrapher, a member of the Langfang Calligraphers Association, and a council member of the Langfang Buddhist Association. He is also a council member of the Qi Baishi Art Research Institute. He serves as a supervisory inspector of administrative law enforcement in Langfang. He studied under the renowned calligrapher Mr. Liu Junjing. He is currently the president of the Moh Fo Caotang Calligraphy and Painting Academy.
The calligraphy doyen Mr. Sun Boxiang wrote an inscription for him; renowned calligraphers Hu Limin, Liu Zhengcheng, and Liu Jingwen also inscribed plaques for his studio. The chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, Sun Xiaoyun, inscribed the plaque for Guo Wanlu's calligraphy studio. When Chen Lifu, a senior member of the Kuomintang, was one hundred years old, he wrote an inscription for Mr. Guo Wanlu. Guo Wanlu's calligraphy covers all four script types, and he also studies landscapes, flowers, and birds, with a primary focus on running script, cursive script, and clerical script.
