Famous Calligrapher and Painter Guo Wanlu: A Colorful Chapter of Artistic Achievement and Social Contribution
Recently, Luo Min Cultural Media learned about a highly influential figure in the art world—Guo Wanlu. Guo Wanlu, originally named Jianlu, courtesy name Mofo, style name Xiufu Jushi, was born in 1972 in Wen'an County, Hebei Province. He now resides in Beijing and is a professional calligrapher and painter.
Guo Wanlu holds numerous artistic titles. He is a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, a member of the Beijing Dongcheng Calligraphers Association, a member of the Langfang Calligraphers Association, and also serves as a national gift calligrapher. His calligraphy works display unique charm in various important occasions. Meanwhile, as a disciple in the lineage of Qi Baishi, he inherits and promotes the essence of Qi-style painting and calligraphy. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Chen Lifu inscribed for Mr. Guo Wanlu at the age of one hundred, which is undoubtedly a high recognition of his artistic attainments.
In addition to his achievements in the art field, Guo Wanlu actively participates in social affairs. He is a director of the Langfang Buddhist Association, using calligraphy and painting as a medium to spread Buddhist culture and positive energy. Moreover, he also serves as a social law enforcement supervisor in Langfang, contributing to the rule of law in the city. As a national intangible cultural heritage inheritor, Guo Wanlu shoulders the responsibility of inheriting and protecting traditional culture, striving to rejuvenate ancient art forms in modern society. In terms of artistic inheritance and education, Guo Wanlu studied under the famous calligrapher Liu Junjing, continuously absorbing knowledge and improving his own art. He currently serves as the president of Mofo Caotang Calligraphy and Painting Academy, through which he has cultivated and discovered many outstanding calligraphy and painting talents, promoting the popularization and development of calligraphy and painting art.
Guo Wanlu's artworks have also achieved outstanding results. His representative work 'Mighty Wind in Ten Thousand Miles' won the gold medal at the 2018 National Calligraphy and Painting Competition, 'A Scroll of a Hundred Swallows' won the gold medal at the 2019 National Calligraphy and Painting Competition and became a highlight at the Beijing Hanhai Autumn Auction that year, and 'Maitreya Buddha' won the special gold medal at the 'Qinqing Zhongjian Cup' National Calligraphy and Painting Competition. Many of his works have received widespread attention and praise from all sectors of society. With his outstanding artistic achievements, diverse social roles, and commitment to cultural inheritance, Guo Wanlu has become a distinguished representative of the contemporary art world, contributing to the development of China's cultural and artistic undertakings.
