At the Foot of Wudang Mountain, by the Shore of Taihu Lake—Memories of a Trip to Taihu Lake Scenic Area
A friend said that they recently went to Wudang Mountain and then nearby visited the Taihu Lake Tourist Area, which focuses on water-based activities. It is very close to Wudang Mountain, about a ten-minute drive. It is an inland lake scenic area with nice views, currently mainly offering sightseeing tours and water sports. Old Xu was intrigued by this, as he has a natural love for water, and having the time, decided to go for a visit.
Before departing, I searched for it and found that it is a resort area. My first impression was decent, and it turned out to be located within the Danjiangkou Reservoir area.
Before leaving, I directly navigated to the Wudang Taihu Lake Tourist Area. To be honest, navigation systems are getting more and more accurate nowadays. They clearly guide you through every highway interchange, which saves me a lot of trouble since I'm a complete direction dummy. Technology makes life simpler. After exiting the Wudang Mountain expressway, a ten-minute drive brought us to the dock entrance. I stopped to take a photo to prove I'd been there, haha.
After parking, the visitor center was immediately visible. At the front desk, following the ticket seller's introduction, I directly bought a sightseeing tour ticket. Boats depart once an hour. The route starts from the dock—visit Taihe Illusion, take a boat tour of Taihu Lake, see the Songling Scenic Area, and pay homage to the Laozi statue. The ticket price at the counter was 128 yuan per person, but this year the scenic area had a promotion at 96 yuan per person (when buying tickets, ask if there are any other discounts; if so, you can save even more, and sometimes people related to epidemic prevention work can visit for free).
Overall, the tour duration is not long. The young companions with us felt it was too short and asked the boat guide about other activities. There are mainly three options: renting a yacht, water sports, and a water park with non-motorized activities. Well, let me briefly introduce them.
After taking a few photos by the yacht, we decided to try the water sports, because on the way back, the guide said these activities are quite thrilling and good value for money. The young companions also agreed. Alright, let's go with everyone's suggestion.
Before doing these activities, we had to put phones, necklaces, glasses, etc., into the lockers at the dock. Due to the high speed, there is a risk of dropping them into the water. The driver said the water is dozens of meters deep, and if something falls in, it's gone forever.
The entire trip took about four hours. The staff said if there had been no waiting in line, it would have taken at least one or two hours more. Actually, traveling is physically tiring, but since we were having fun, we didn't feel it until we were exhausted at the end. So we called it a day. We asked the staff about nearby dining options, which were mostly farm-style restaurants with simple names like Junxiang, Taihu Fish Village, Qingqing Feast, etc., featuring local flavors and fish. We chose one inside the scenic area. Looking at the menu, all prices were clearly marked. Fine, we settled on this place.
The restaurant had private rooms. Originally we wanted a private room, but the young companions preferred to sit outside. So the owner cleaned up the tables and chairs, and we sat by the lake, eating to replenish our energy. The dishes were farm-style, mainly sour and spicy, which suited our taste.
I'm afraid the editor might accuse me of advertising, so I didn't include many nice photos. Actually, sharing the scenery and food discovered in life is also a kind of merit.
Alright, that's it for today. Next time, I'll take you to see another scenic area. Remember to support me!
