Wudang Mountain Travel Guide
Wudang Mountain is definitely a great place for hiking. If you're lucky enough to see the sunrise and sea of clouds, it will be even more perfect 😀
💥Transportation: Take the high-speed rail to Wudangshan West Station or a regular train to Wudangshan Station, then take bus 202 or 203 to the terminal station and you'll arrive.
💥Tickets: ① Wudang Mountain ticket free 235. After entering, there are two small attractions that require separate tickets: Zixiao Palace 15 yuan (student ticket 10 yuan), Golden Summit 27 yuan (student ticket 15 yuan).
The bus ticket only needs to be purchased at the entrance gate. After that, you can hop on and off as you go, no need to buy additional tickets. The scenic area is huge, and each attraction is far apart, so you need the bus to get around. The roads are basically winding mountain roads, and the bus goes quite fast, so be prepared for motion sickness.
③ Cable car ticket (upward 90 yuan, downward 80 yuan, discount if bought together. No student ticket, purchase at your discretion.)
The cable car only goes between Golden Summit and Qiongtai, you still need the bus for other routes.
💥Upward Routes: There are two routes up the mountain. ① Gate (bus) → Qiongtai (cable car) → Golden Summit. ② Gate (bus) → Nanyan (hike) → Golden Summit. Most people choose the second route because there are more attractions along the way. The bus stops at each attraction, you can get off directly, and after visiting one, you can take the bus to the next. Very convenient.
💥Itinerary: Day 1, I entered the mountain at 17:00 and followed the second route. We went directly to the hotel.
💥Hotels: Nanyan and Zixiao Palace are both good choices. We stayed at Zixiao Restaurant in Zixiao Palace (highly recommended aaaaa!!!!!)
The hotels are basically small B&Bs, with a restaurant on the first floor and guest rooms on the second, private bathroom, price is not very high. There are 6 rooms, each with a different style. It is recommended to book online in advance.
After arriving near the hotel, I had dinner and then went up to the hotel to rest.
💥Itinerary: Day 2, at 7 o'clock first went to Taizipo (an ancient building complex with green tiles and red walls, great for photos) → Xiaoyao Valley (wild macaques are fierce, don't buy monkey food to feed them) → Zixiao Palace (Taoist architecture complex, very magnificent) → Nanyan (many hotels and restaurants, you can rest here).
💥Hotels: If you want to see the sunrise, you can book a hotel at Nanyan or Qixing Tree.
Day 2: Wake up at 3 AM, then hike to the viewing platform near Golden Summit to see the sunrise and sea of clouds. (Golden Summit opens at 6:30, to see the sunrise you can only watch from the nearby viewing platform.)
💥Sunrise viewing: Hiking is tiring, and it's very dark in the early morning, so be sure to go with a companion. If you feel cold, it's best to bring a thick jacket. It's best to bring a bottle of water, as water up there is very expensive.
There are two routes from Qixing Tree to Golden Summit. After climbing to Chaotian Palace, there is a fork. The route through Yitianmen is not open in the early morning, so do not take that route; take the other one. It takes about two hours to climb. The sunrise and sea of clouds are really stunning, but whether you encounter them depends on luck. You can check the weather forecast in advance.
After watching the sunrise, you can go to Golden Summit (opens at 6:30).
💥Descending: After climbing to Golden Summit, you'll be very tired. At this point, you can take the cable car down to Qiongtai and visit the attractions on the other route. If you're too tired, you can just take the bus down the mountain.
