The Most Worthwhile Mountain in Hubei: Wudang Mountain (Taihe Mountain) Has a Hotel!
Before going, I had a general understanding: #Wudang Mountain#, also known as Taihe Mountain, is a mountainous scenic area. Considering we would be climbing, we only brought essentials. I suggest you travel light too, otherwise climbing will be exhausting, and this way you can enjoy it more easily. After getting off the train at the station, we took Bus 202 to the entrance of Wudang Mountain. You can purchase tickets online in advance and swipe your ID card directly to enter and board the sightseeing bus.
We took the bus heading to Prince Slope (Taizi Po). Our first stop was #Prince Slope#, where you can see wonders such as "Ten Miles of Osmanthus Fragrance," "Four Gates in One Li," "Nine-Bend Yellow River Wall," and "One Pillar with Twelve Beams." The winding and steep paths cleverly utilize the terrain and mountain contours to construct buildings and Taoist temples – I truly admire the wisdom of the ancients. The red walls here are also great for photo ops.
The next stop was #South Cliff Palace (Nanyan Gong)#. It is a palace built on a sheer cliff, the most perfect combination of Wudang Mountain's cultural and natural scenery. There is a stone beam suspended over the cliff, with an incense burner at its end – very unique. I was particularly amazed by the wisdom and courage of the ancients.
A trip to Wudang is not complete without visiting the Golden Summit. Finally, we arrived at #Golden Hall (Jin Dian)#. At an elevation of 1,412 meters, such a magnificent building stands with extraordinary grandeur. It is the highest scenic spot on Wudang Mountain. The entire Golden Hall is cast in bronze and gilded, with a statue of the True Martial God (Zhenwu Dadi) in the center. Entering #Golden Hall# truly means you have arrived at Wudang. You must experience the beauty of Wudang in person!
It was almost dark when we got off the bus at South Cliff Palace. We ultimately chose to stay at #Taihe Hotel#. After arriving at the South Cliff parking lot, we walked about 300 meters to reach it. The newly renovated hotel looks very artistic. From the outside it seems small, but inside it has several floors. We stayed on the 5th floor. The hotel environment was good, clean and tidy. We stayed in a scenic double room where we could see the natural scenery of Wudang Mountain from the room. The large and small mountain trees near and far brought a sense of peace, occasionally punctuated by the chirping of birds. The air was fresh, and it felt very comfortable. The room was fully equipped, warm and cozy, with hot water available. The weather was good during our visit. Since we slept well at night and wanted to see the beautiful scenery early, we got up early and went to the rooftop. The sun was just rising slowly – it felt amazing. I strongly recommend this hotel; the experience was superb.
This hotel also has a restaurant, and they serve local specialties. They use Wudang Mountain spring water for drinking and cooking. The dishes are varied and cater to different tastes. Even someone like me, who is quite picky about food, found everything delicious. We had braised Jianhe wild fish, stir-fried wild vegetables, and stir-fried wild bamboo shoots with cured pork. The flavors were fresh and authentic – truly Wudang style.
