Amazing! My Village | Stay at 'Wudang's First Temple' and Savor a Fairy-like Leisurely Time
Remember homesickness, retain feelings, implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party, and see new changes in the countryside. Recently, Shiyan Smart Cultural Tourism will launch a series of articles under the theme "A-Level Scenic Spots and Rural Revitalization Demonstration Villages," exploring Shiyan's beautiful rural scenery, cuisine, and accommodations, taking you into villages as attractive as A-level scenic spots, offering more ways to experience the countryside and enjoy a slow pastoral life. This issue, our editor takes you to visit Yuanhe Guan Village in the Wudang Mountain Tourism Economic Special Zone. Follow us, let's set off together!
Ancient trees, ancient wells, and ancient-style villages are arranged in a pleasing order. Ancient paths, ancient charm, and eco-friendly dwellings create a delightful landscape. This is Yuanhe Guan Village.
Yuanhe Guan Village is named after Yuanhe Guan (Yuanhe Temple), one of the "Nine Palaces and Eight Temples" of Wudang Mountain. It is the first Taoist temple encountered when entering the sacred Taoist land of Wudang. Its full name is Yuanhe Qianjiao Mansion (Yuanhe Transfer School), built during the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty when Wudang Mountain was extensively constructed. Originally a holy site for Taoists to face the wall and repent, and a place to punish Taoists who violated monastic rules, it now stands as an ancient architectural relic.
Although only part of the architecture remains, you can still see Qing Dynasty inscriptions recording past renovations and exquisite buildings. The most notable is the Ming Dynasty gilded bronze statue of the Six Jia Guardians in the main hall, a national first-class cultural relic that allows you to appreciate unparalleled craftsmanship up close.
Unexpectedly, in the western courtyard of Yuanhe Guan, there is also a Wudang Folk Museum, where you can see various plaques, wooden furniture, ritual implements, books, and many other collections reflecting folk Wudang culture and Taoist culture—a truly niche attraction.
Yuanhe Guan Village not only features century-old ancient buildings but also preserves many complete courtyard houses, simple and natural. Fully respecting and tapping into the existing cultural context of Yuanhe Guan, the village has transformed its historical sites, sacred paths, ancient wells, large trees, and traditional houses into a key cultural axis. This has turned the once dilapidated and backward village into a demonstration group of rural revitalization guesthouses. Descending from the immortal mountains, you return to a simple countryside.
Stepping into the Yuanhe Guan guesthouse cluster, which is separated by only a wall from Yuanhe Guan, you find antique courtyards and a quiet, comfortable environment, starting a leisurely vacation day.
In the small courtyard of Yiyun Yuanhe Meisu (Yiyun Yuanhe Guesthouse), ancient trees, ancient wells, and village historical sites are nicely arranged; ancient paths, ancient charm, and eco-dwellings present a pleasant scene. Though not as exquisite as Suzhou gardens, it possesses the natural Taoist charm of "governing through non-action" from Wudang.
You can choose from 50 different styles of rooms. Opening the window, you see clear streams, shady trees, scattered courtyards, and antique elegance, making you feel as if you are in a paradise.
Nearby, the Yiyun series, Yiyun Xiangju (Yiyun Countryside Residence), is also tranquil and elegant. Located by the lake, you can leisurely fish and enjoy the beautiful scenery of mountains and water without leaving home.
Here, you can appreciate the wind and moon, watch the sea of clouds, wait for rain, seek the charm of a thousand-year imperial temple, or find a quiet corner to while away the time.
Don't miss the farmhouse dishes at the countryside residence: cured pork and bamboo shoot soup, firewood tofu, egg stir-fry with steamed buns (Bubugao), pumpkin steamed with spare ribs, and stir-fried pork with sour beans. Just one look makes your heart crave, and one taste leaves an endless aftertaste.
These rural flavors can soothe your busy fatigue and tiredness in one bite. Enjoy them with your family!
With flowers, trees, and sunshine,
Rise with the sun and sleep at sunset.
Rich in nature, culture, and history,
It retains the original mountain wilderness,
Fulfilling your fantasy of "hometown."
You don't have to choose between the moon and sixpence;
Green mountains, clear waters, and deep hometown affection
Do not have to be a choice either.
