Xiaojiabian Village, located 16 kilometers from the county seat, borders Zhujiapo Village to the north and Caochangba to the south. The terrain is winding, and the climate is pleasant all year round.

Such natural conditions nurture Xiaojiabian Village’s beautiful poetic scenery. Look up and you see green mountains; look down and you see clear water. In the fields, rapeseed flowers glow yellow; in the woods, green bamboos stand gracefully. The houses and tiles are pleasant and livable, with curling kitchen smoke echoing the sunset... The perfect blend of romantic poetry and everyday life is exactly the idyllic dwelling described by the poet Tao Yuanming.

Long trapped in the cage of the world, why not return to the garden? Come for a stroll in Xiaojiabian Village—perhaps you, too, can be as carefree as a poet, fully immersed in the present landscape.

Do you remember the old village days when everyone counted on their fingers the days until the market? Even the feeling of waiting became especially joyful. Xiaojiabian, this romantic village, will recreate the lively scene of the old market, letting people relive those simple and happy days.

At the market, villagers will pick vegetables from the fields and set up stalls, some still carrying dew or soil. Adults will buy ingredients and daily necessities they don’t have at home, while children look forward to the snacks at the market...

There are stall owners with stories and interesting interactions. The people of Xiaojiabian aspire to use their passion for the countryside, at the intersection of rural construction and modern development, to spread the history and emotions carried by this land and create a richer cultural ecology. Nature, simplicity, and openness are the foundations of Xiaojiabian. We welcome friends interested in setting up stalls to join the Xiaojiabian Weekend Market.

Time and location: Starting March 21 (next Tuesday), every Tuesday, Xiaojiabian Village, Longba Town, Zhuxi County.

The poetic countryside of Xiaojiabian Village has another identity—the former residence of military writer Shen Kai. The post-90s generation may be unfamiliar, but in the 1980s, the film "The Gunshot on the Prairie" was a huge hit across China.

Yet few know that its screenwriter was Shen Kai, a military writer who came from the deep mountains of Zhuxi.

Shen Kai’s former residence, the Dai Family Compound, is a complex of buildings with earthen walls, wooden floors, and mud tiles. It is said to have twenty-four courtyards, with winding corridors so that you won’t get mud on your feet even on rainy days. The upper floor is made of wood, with doors connecting each room but still separated. Above the main entrance gate, there are four characters: “Cultivate, Read, Pass Down the Family Tradition.” The earthen walls and wooden eaves embody the wisdom of ancestors, and the red-story events that took place here are still fondly recounted.

According to the Dai family’s recollection, “Li Xiannian’s troops once stationed at the Dai Family Compound. At night, they refused to go inside the house. They slept in rows on stone benches, along doorsteps, corridors, and the main courtyard, all neatly lined up. When we got up in the morning, the courtyard was spotless inside and out; the water buckets were full, and the firewood was chopped. By the time we villagers wanted to thank them, they had already left...”
