Wudang Mountain 2-Day Tour Part 1: Travel and Fun
Departing from Wuhan, all on expressways, recharging at Suizhou Service Area midway. Adults have tea, kids rush to finish homework. Resume journey after 50 minutes. If you cannot arrive at the scenic area gate before 17:00 on the first day, you won't be able to stay overnight on the mountain. We stayed on the street at the foot of Wudang Mountain. Here are a few hotels that look good to recommend: Wudang Taihe Xuanwu Hotel, City Comfort Inn. The area near the hotels has complete dining and shopping options โ fruit stores, snack shops, and late-night eats. Below I share my travel tips: average 18,000 steps per person, and that's already the minimum! But my legs still ached. I strongly advise bringing a massage gun โ it's a must-have, an essential item.
Day 1:
1. Depart from Wuhan at 12:00 on Friday
2. Recharge at service area at 15:00 for 50 minutes
3. Arrive at Wudang Taihe Xuanwu (Taihe Ju) for accommodation at 17:00
4. Dining: There are many restaurants opposite the hotel, prices are very reasonable. About 200+ RMB for 4 people. There are also fruit, barbecue, and discount snack shops.
PS: I suggest traveling light โ don't bring too much food, as it will just become dead weight.
Day 2:
1. Wake up at 6:30, check out, then go to the street for Sanfeng Xiangyang Beef Noodles. Drive to the visitor center โ about 10 minutes.
2. Enter the scenic area by scanning ID card at the gate at 7:30
3. Wudang Mountain Ticket Office (Visitor Center) (50 min) โ Qiongtai Zhongguan (by shuttle) โ Cable car up โ Walk to Golden Summit โ Walk from Golden Summit to Nanyan (3 hours) โ Nanyan (by shuttle) โ Zixiao Palace (by shuttle) โ Taizipo (by shuttle) โ Stay overnight at Nanyan (Yihe Ju)
4. You can buy incense at the entrance of Zixiao Palace. Lunch at Qixing Tree โ Shunde Inn; dinner at Nanyan โ Yihe Ju Hotel
6. Stay overnight at Nanyan (Yihe Ju Hotel) โ clean and comfortable, soft bed.
7. Descend via Ming Shen Path โ many scenic spots, good views.
Day 3:
Follow Provincial Road 316 along Danjiangkou Reservoir. Stop for photos and viewing platforms along the way. Recommended attractions: Thousand Island Gallery โ Danjiangkou Dam. Provincial Road S316 โ Hubei's Most Beautiful Highway โ Reservoir Ring Road.
Avoiding pitfalls: The Taoist priests at Chaotian Palace might find you very congenial and invite you to sit and chat. Do not sit down! I had done my homework beforehand โ just thank them, make up an excuse, and leave quickly.
