Bai Juyi once said, 'When I recall Jiangnan, what I miss most is Hangzhou.' Today, whenever I come to Hangzhou for business or vacation, I still feel the same way. Hangzhou's beauty is never enough to behold in any season: spring blossoms, autumn moon, summer breeze, winter snow. Whether it's praying at the temple bell, admiring flowers or moon, each trip to Hangzhou brings new discoveries.

Strolling along the long causeway by West Lake, watching boats glide across the lake; cycling around the lake, taking in the blooming flowers, pavilions and towers – it's a feast for the eyes.

Of course, besides West Lake, Hangzhou has many other interesting places. At night, head to the urban sightseeing corridor along the Qiantang River and watch the light show between the buildings; you'll always feel the city's hustle and bustle.

There are many fine hotels by the Qiantang River, and this time I stayed at Hangzhou Marriott Hotel Qianjiang, located in the heart of the Qianjiang New Town CBD.

The hotel enjoys a prime location, adjacent to Hangzhou Grand Theater, Wave Culture City, Raffles City, and Mixc, and also boasts a scenic view of the Qiantang River.

The lobby themed with the 'Qiantang Tidal Bore'

Stepping into the hotel lobby, I felt that the hotel still upholds the Marriott brand's consistent precision and exquisite positioning. The overall design adopts an international style that is grand, minimalist yet refined and elegant, with the design concept of highlighting the style of the 'Qiantang Tidal Bore'. Local culture and regional essence are infused into the design, cleverly using different spaces and material combinations to bring extraordinary visual effects to the hotel.

Nowadays, many guests enjoy coming to the hotel for a getaway, savoring the cuisine and comfortable surroundings; several public areas of the hotel are quite popular.

The hotel's architecture and interior design were executed by internationally top-tier hotel design teams: GP from the U.S. and CCD from Hong Kong. The lobby takes the 'Qiantang Tidal Bore' as the main axis, with rigorous layout and exquisite details, using finishes and lighting to interpret the stunning atmosphere of 'watching the tide,' 'listening to the tide,' and 'remembering the tide.'

The majestic decorative backdrop theme wall behind the main reception desk is a two-story high art piece. Through controlled LED lighting, it creates a sparkling wave-watching scene, forming a 'dynamic' and 'static' spatial tide-watching state with the ceiling's wave-like design.

Guests need to swipe a card to enter the guest rooms, which prevents disturbances from non-staying visitors and provides as much security as possible for staying guests.

Staying in a warm and comfortable scenic room

The hotel features 348 exquisitely luxurious guest rooms, including 23 suites. Each room skillfully blends modern comfort with stylish design, equipped with modern amenities and services to create a comfortable and fashionable stay experience.

Eighty percent of the hotel's rooms face the Qiantang River. This time I stayed in a Deluxe River View Room. As I opened the door, I was drawn by the floor-to-ceiling windows. Leaning by the window, I could overlook the magnificent scenery of the Qiantang River. Whether it's the first ray of morning sunlight or the dazzling light show at night, you can take it all in.

I like the room's decor, which presents a palette that is deep yet lively, and an open spatial layout that connects the bathtub and vanity with the room, enlarging the visual space. It's simple, modern, yet cozy.

Each room is equipped with an LCD flat-screen TV, high-speed wireless internet, a minibar, a coffee machine, and a range of complete facilities.

The hotel's executive floors are on the 18th to 25th floors. Guests staying on the executive floors can enjoy multiple benefits at the M Club.

The hotel has three distinctive restaurants and a lobby lounge, offering classic domestic and international cuisine, continuously introducing seasonal innovative dishes to delight the palate.

Enjoying English afternoon tea at the lobby lounge

The lobby lounge design is very clever, utilizing the hotel's irregular architectural form to emphasize the space's refined and gorgeous character while creating a highly private atmosphere.

Here, elegant English afternoon tea, Hangzhou's local specialty tea snacks, aromatic coffee, and more are served daily. On a leisurely afternoon, you can spend a relaxing time with family and friends.

Dining at the City Bistro All-day Dining Restaurant

The all-day dining restaurant features an open kitchen and offers a wide variety of international cuisines and à la carte Western dishes. The dining area makes full use of natural light, with a stylish and modern design, allowing guests to enjoy both visual and gustatory treats.

Open booth seating can accommodate many diners at once, and there are also private dining rooms, providing a secluded spot for social gatherings.

Each station at the dinner buffet is filled with various delicacies, dizzying the eyes. Recently, the buffet dinner has launched a barbecue food festival, a treat for those who love barbecue and beer. However, I still prefer the freshly grilled oysters, steaks, and lamb chops, as well as the roast duck station, watching the chef personally wrap each Peking duck roll – very appetizing.

Enjoying Cantonese cuisine and dim sum at the Marriott Chinese Restaurant

The Marriott Chinese Restaurant specializes in exquisite Cantonese cuisine. A team of skilled chefs focuses on the presentation of signature dishes, which are not only delicious but also visually appealing.

With eight elegant and unique private dining rooms, the restaurant offers full dining service, making it an ideal choice for family gatherings or business banquets. This time I sampled the delicious Cantonese cuisine and Cantonese dim sum.

Fitness center and indoor swimming pool

After indulging in the sumptuous cuisine, it's always necessary to exercise. The best place to go is on the fifth floor, which houses well-equipped leisure facilities, a 24-hour fitness center, and an indoor swimming pool.

The pool ceiling simulates natural light, creating a soft beauty as if sunlight is shining on the water, making guests feel as if they are outdoors, in close contact with nature.

Recommended Qiantang night tour package

Qiantang has been prosperous since ancient times, and the river flows through its veins. Hangzhou Marriott Hotel Qianjiang specially offers a Qiantang night tour room package. Cruise on the Qianyinhao to admire the ten-mile Qiantang beauty of Qianjiang New Town, the Sun and Moon Shining Together, the Qianjiang Dragon, Qianwang Shooting the Tide, the Qiantang River Fourth Bridge, and enjoy the neon-lit skyline of high-rises on both sides of the new town, experiencing an unforgettable night tour of thriving Qiantang.
