March Cherry Blossoms Arrive in Jiangnan: Springtime Splendor at Tonglu Tianzi Di

📍 Hangzhou · 👁 7 reads · ❤️ 43 likes

In the blink of an eye, it's the season of splendid spring flowers again. Wuhan's cherry blossoms are too far away, but the cherry blossoms at Tonglu Tianzi Di Scenic Area are just as beautiful. Surrounded by mountains, Tianzi Di is like a secluded paradise.

Another March, and I return to Tianzi Di. The wild cherry blossoms covering the mountains are indescribably beautiful. Besides flower viewing, Tianzi Di now boasts many recreational facilities, such as the thrilling Zilong Gorge Drifting, the world's largest double-decker glass viewing platform—the Zijinhua Cliff Glass Viewing Platform, and the Dinosaur Park, a must-visit for families...

【March at Tianzi Di: Experience the Ultimate Romance of Cherry Blossom Petal Showers】

March at Tianzi Di belongs to cherry blossoms. While cherry blossoms are often remembered as romantic but fleeting, the cherry blossoms here extend the spring glow. So I gathered a few friends and came specially for the flowers. The mountains are covered with early-, mid-, and late-blooming cherry trees, their blossoms interweaving in full bloom. After waiting all winter, Tianzi Di's cherry blossoms now freely flaunt their beauty in the warm sunlight, swaying and dancing in the spring breeze.

At Tianzi Di Scenic Area, there's a new way to ascend the mountain and enjoy the blossoms: take the Flying Magic Carpet at the foot of the mountain. Sitting backward on the carpet, it transports you to the mountaintop—probably the most effortless and fun way to climb. Once at the top, a short walk brings you to the best viewing platform for cherry blossoms.

In sunny March, nothing captivates more than these cherry blossoms—red blooms adorning the branches, cascading gracefully, each exquisite blossom dotting the twigs like little red lanterns, swaying in the breeze with unique charm. Gazing at the blossoms before me, I can't help but lean in for a closer look; upon careful inspection, you can even spot the morning dew still clinging to the petals. This is the flora of Tianzi Di, this is the scenery of Tianzi Di. Gentle breezes send petal after petal drifting down, a scene too beautiful for words.

In the warm early spring, wild cherry trees burst into lively bloom. With many varieties and diverse tree shapes, their foliage is dense and flowers abundant, plump and enchanting. In Jiangnan, nothing tugs at the heart quite like these wild cherries in the mountains, red blooms spreading over branches, each lovely blossom like a tiny red lantern, shimmering in the wind with an elegance all their own.

【Purple Silk Slender Hands: A Fantasy Escape into a World of Immortal Spirits】

After savoring the romantic cherry blossoms, continue along the walking trail for a few minutes to reach a newly built attraction this year—Purple Silk Slender Hands. A purple suspended walkway hovers above the mountain forest, supported by two enormous, slender hands. Walking on the walkway feels like being cradled in giant palms—a surreal, fantastical sight.

【A Thrill Known as—Yuntian Bridge】

Now, the summit of Tianzi Di is a realm of joy. Here, you can not only enjoy the landscape and cherry blossoms but also try a series of exhilarating and fun attractions that may become your most unforgettable memories.

Arriving at Yuntian Bridge and Bubujingxin (Step-By-Step Thrill), you immediately sense something special. Two different types of suspension bridges span between the mountains, with the entire Tianzi Di below your feet. Those who love a challenge can choose Bubujingxin; if not, Yuntian Bridge is the way to go.

On a fine day, strolling across the long Yuntian Bridge offers a sweeping view of Tianzi Di's beauty. But for those with a fear of heights, looking down from such a great height is a huge test—with every step, you can clearly hear your own footsteps and feel the thrilling sway and shake.

【The World's Largest Double-Decker Glass Viewing Platform—Zijinhua Cliff Glass Viewing Platform】

Once again returning to Tianzi Di, I had long longed to see this world's largest double-decker glass viewing platform. After crossing Yuntian Bridge, you reach the Zijinhua Cliff Glass Viewing Platform. As its name suggests, it perches atop a peak, surrounded by steep cliffs. Viewed from above, the platform resembles a blooming zijinhua (purple golden flower).

The entire platform is made of transparent glass, so you need to wear shoe covers before stepping on. It has two tiers. The first tier, shaped like petals, is larger than the second. Standing on these petal-like extensions, you're directly over the abyss; the transparent glass gives a heart-pounding sensation of hovering on the brink.

The second tier is the Sky Mirror, a huge circular mirror surface with no surrounding railings, allowing you to capture stunning sky-mirror photos. But don't worry—safety nets are installed around the platform. Taking photos here is absolutely gorgeous.

【Tianzi Cave: China's Largest Natural Shaft-Style Karst Cave】

Where is Penglai? That's the mythical paradise ancient people yearned for, and in Tonglu, that Penglai-like realm is found inside Tianzi Cave. Tianzi Cave is a karst cave at the mountaintop. Originally called Immortal's Cave, legend has it that Emperor Liu Yu once rested and studied here, hence the name Tianzi (Son of Heaven) Cave. At the entrance, a stalactite formation frames the cave mouth, adding to its mystique.

Stepping inside, you immediately feel the cave's coolness. The guide told us the cave stays warm in winter and cool in summer, making it a great summer retreat. Strips of lights stretch into the distance, constantly changing color; under their glow, it feels like a time tunnel leading to a fairyland.

With its lofty cavern, deep underground river, and dense stalactites, the terrain gradually rises—it is the largest shaft-type karst cave in Asia.

【Zilong Gorge Glass Drifting: A Drifting Experience Amid Cherry Blossoms】

I have to admire how well the recreational facilities are laid out at Tianzi Di Scenic Area. From the Flying Magic Carpet, it's just a few minutes' walk to the cherry blossom viewing platform. After viewing the blossoms, a short walk takes you to Purple Silk Slender Hands. Then, a few more minutes bring you to Yuntian Bridge, and at its end, the Zijinhua Cliff Glass Viewing Platform. Adjacent to the platform is Tianzi Cave; passing through the cave leads to Zilong Gorge Glass Drifting. At the drifting endpoint is the Dinosaur Park, and beyond the park is a new attraction, the Naked-Eye 3D Space-Time Ship. It truly is one-stop fun—from the summit, you continuously try new experiences and challenge yourself.

The Zilong Gorge Drifting features a glass slide winding through the mountains, with a drop equivalent to 60 stories from start to finish. Doing this in spring lets you experience the romance of drifting beneath cherry blossoms. Wearing raincoats, two people per raft, ride the rubber boat as it zips through like a roller coaster, splashing water, diving and drifting, with a 720° spiral. It's a speed-and-passion heartbeat experience, offering unparalleled physical and mental release.

【Family Fun Paradise: Dinosaur Valley in the Bamboo Forest】

At the end of the glass drifting, you'll see the sign for Tianzi Di Dinosaur Valley, surrounded by several very lifelike dinosaurs. The kids in our group got extremely excited upon seeing them. This is definitely one of the must-visit spots for a family trip.

Realistic dinosaur models are scattered throughout the bamboo forest in the valley: Tyrannosaurus rex, pterodactyls, stegosaurs... a full range of dinosaur species. These animatronics roar and move, and for a moment you might truly feel you've traveled back to the Jurassic world.

【Naked-Eye 3D Space-Time Ship: A Different Kind of Fun】

After crossing Dinosaur Valley, you arrive at a brand-new attraction at Tianzi Di—the Naked-Eye 3D Space-Time Ship. I've tried many 3D experiences at various sites, but this is my first time with a naked-eye 3D show. There are five modes: Dinosaur Paradise, Doomsday Domain, Gorilla Mine, Roaming Alien Worlds, and Savage Planet Adventure, with the thrill level escalating. Sitting in your seat, the strong sensations of falling and crashing are incredibly immersive and exciting.
