Mount Huangshan Scenic Area
Last year I planned to visit Mount Huangshan and its surroundings, but due to the pandemic, I couldn't make it. This year it finally came true. Let me share my experience—happy travels!
July 29, 2022 Mount Huangshan - Xidi
Clothing: 3 pairs of socks, 2 sets of underwear, 2 quick-dry short-sleeved shirts, 2 pairs of long pants; bought disposable raincoats at Tangkou (cheap)
Food: >4 loaves of bread, 4 cartons of milk, 1 case of purified water, 5 tomatoes; bought apples, cucumbers, and self-heating rice at Tangkou (expensive)
Medicine: Motion sickness patches (medicine) – my wife and daughter easily get carsick
Supplies: Disposable mattress, chopsticks, facial wipes; earphones, charger, power bank; binoculars; 3 umbrellas, masks; small blanket; essential balm; tissues; laundry powder; 2 towels; toiletries bag (toothbrush cup, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, shampoo, body lotion, etc.)
Booked online: one combo ticket for Mount Huangshan (383 RMB) and three tickets for the shuttle bus + uphill cable car for my daughter and me (118 RMB). The main entrance ticket must be reserved in advance – purchased through Mount Huangshan's WeChat official account.
Hongfeng Hotel (booked on Ctrip, 101 RMB). The public parking fee in Tangkou is high. Hongfeng Hotel is located in the back row, budget-friendly, with convenient parking and a 3-minute walk to the distribution center.
Day 1 – 13:06
Departed. Topped up the fuel tank (244 RMB). Entered the highway at E Mountain, took a short break at Jingde Service Area, exited at Tangkou South (71 RMB), and drove directly to Hongfeng Hotel.
Parking in front of the hotel was free and convenient.
Dinner: 190 RMB (Sanbao Huizhou Cuisine at the distribution center entrance). The price was acceptable. After dinner, strolled along Tangkou Street to get familiar with the area and enjoy the night view. Bought apples (10 RMB per jin), cucumbers (8 RMB per jin), raincoats (3 RMB each), and self-heating rice (25+30 RMB) at Jingdong Convenience Store. Bought a used walking stick at the hotel (2 RMB). Total: 84 RMB.
Day 2 – 05:20 woke up. Mount Huangshan scenic area started ticket checking at 6:10. The first shuttle bus departed at around 6:20 to Yungu Temple Cable Car. Breakfast for two: 15+15=30 RMB. We got up early and caught the first group, saving time later.
Nearby is the downhill cable car to Ziguang Pavilion to transfer to the shuttle bus.
Dragging an injured foot, luckily I had bought a walking stick, and made it back smoothly. The experience was quite nice.
