Mount Huangshan (Part 2) West Sea Grand Canyon
The West Sea Grand Canyon of Mount Huangshan, also known as 'White Cloud Valley' due to the White Cloud Stream within it, stretches from Diaojiao Temple to the foot of Paiyun Pavilion, with a total length of about 15 kilometers. It is one of the famous grand canyons of Mount Huangshan. Opened in November 2000, it is the most essential scenic area of Mount Huangshan.
Entrance to the West Sea Grand Canyon: Paiyun Pavilion
Paiyun Pavilion is located at West Sea Gate of Mount Huangshan Scenic Area, built in the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935). It is a long scenic pavilion made of granite strip stones, with the three characters 'Paiyun Pavilion' carved on the stone lintel. The pavilion is 4 meters deep, 5 meters wide, 5 meters high, covering an area of 20 square meters. With a broad view, it is the best place to admire the exquisite stone wonders of Mount Huangshan. Because clouds and mists often rise and roll in the West Sea valley, but dissipate before reaching the stone pavilion, it is named 'Paiyun Pavilion' (Cloud-Dispelling Pavilion).
Bottom of the West Sea Grand Canyon
The West Sea Grand Canyon ground rail cable car, commonly called the internet-famous little train, costs 100 yuan per person one way. If you don't take the cable car up, hiking uphill is 7.3 kilometers to Haixin Pavilion (near Baiyun Hotel).
