Yellow Mountain (Part 3) Bright Summit
From the West Sea Grand Canyon, I went up towards Bright Summit, planning to stay at Bright Summit Mountain Villa, rest a bit before continuing to explore.
West Sea Grand Canyon cable car upper station: Tianhai Station
Baiyun Hotel, located below Bright Summit. Still need to climb a half-mile uphill steps to reach Bright Summit. If staying here, the next day going up to Bright Summit to see sunrise still requires climbing.
Bright Summit is the second highest peak of Yellow Mountain at 1860 meters, just 4 meters lower than the highest peak Lotus Flower Peak at 1864 meters.
I stayed in the cheapest standard room without windows. During the pandemic, the price was discounted, 799 yuan per night including breakfast, normally over 1000. There are also 12-person bunk bed rooms, current price per bed is 268 yuan. Staying at Bright Summit Mountain Villa is best for watching sunrise and sunset, also most convenient as you can see them right outside, some rooms even have sunrise views. It's also the most effort-saving with minimal backtracking.
Bright Summit Mountain Villa provides toiletries, but no disposable slippers, only plastic slippers.
Sitting in the dining room for breakfast, you can see the sunrise.
From Guanshi Pavilion, you can overlook the Flying Stone opposite.
From Guanshi Pavilion, the Flying Stone looks like a fairy peach.
Flying Stone: Among the cluster of peaks at the west end of Pingtian Gang, there is a huge boulder standing on a rocky platform. The boulder is 12 meters high, 7.5 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, weighing about 544 tons. The rocky platform below is 12-15 meters long, 8-10 meters wide. The contact area between the two rocks is very small, making the upper rock appear as if it flew from beyond the skies, hence the name 'Flying Stone'. It is pointed at top and round at bottom, shaped like a fairy peach, so also called 'Fairy Peach Peak'. Ming Dynasty Cheng Yuheng's poem: 'With a staff I wander to this peak, afraid to ascend the highest place. Knowing you have flown here, I fear you might fly away again.' The Flying Stone is on the path from Paiyun Tower to Bright Summit, and is the stone shown in the opening credits of the TV series 'Dream of the Red Chamber'. There are two other Flying Stones: one near Cuivei Peak, and one on a small peak in front of the ancient Yinglin Nunnery.
The distant Lotus Flower Peak and Celestial Capital Peak
Lotus Flower Peak and Celestial Capital Peak in the morning light. This time luck was not so good; I didn't see a complete sunrise.
