Arriving at She County Ancient City, it feels as if one has instantly returned to an ancient and mysterious era. With hundreds of years of history, the ancient building complex here blends architectural styles from multiple historical periods including Han, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing, exquisite and unique. Moreover, She County is one of the important birthplaces of Hui culture and Huizhou merchant culture, where you can deeply understand the Hui-style culture and the historical background of Huizhou merchants.

She County Huizhou Government Office

In She County Ancient City, one of the most desirable attractions is Doushan Street. This street is reputed as the "Hometown of Huizhou Merchants," preserving a large number of traditional ancient buildings and cultural heritage, which hold significant historical value. Doushan Street attracts many visitors with its fresh and elegant atmosphere, becoming an indispensable part of She County Ancient City.

At No. 37 Doushan Street, there is a highly praised tea culture venue—Jiang Xiangtai Tea Culture Clubhouse. Jiang Xiangtai Tea Industry was founded during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of over 170 years. The clubhouse was rated as a cultural relic protection unit in June 2006. With financial support from She County government, renowned designers were hired, and after two years and a huge investment, the clubhouse was fully renovated, restoring and preserving the appearance of Huizhou ancient dwellings.

The clubhouse is renovated from four Huizhou ancient houses, retaining the original style of Huizhou ancient architecture. The venue displays numerous cultural relics, among which are the manuscript "Journey from Huizhou to Guangzhou," "Tea Making Summary," and letters, all written personally by the Jiang family, showcasing in detail the tea making and trade circumstances of Huizhou tea merchants.

Reenactment of Historical Business Scenes of Huizhou Tea Merchants

The first floor of the clubhouse is a tea culture museum exhibition, recreating the business trajectory and scenes of the Jiang family's heyday as "Huizhou Tea Merchants" selling to all parts of the country. There are scenes of presenting jasmine tea to Empress Dowager Cixi at the Anhui Guild Hall in old Beijing and transporting tea by raft on the Xin'an River to Hangzhou and Shanghai. In the central exhibition hall, a giant ocean-going sailing ship model displays the epitome of tea sales to Europe and America. In the tea production craft display area, numerous relics showcase the exquisite traditional tea-making skills of the Jiang Xiangtai Tea Company in the Huizhou region. Nearby specialty tea rooms allow visitors to taste famous Huangshan teas that the Jiang family once sold overseas and to various parts of the country.

The second floor features spacious and bright theme guest rooms with distinct cultural characteristics, including Chinese, British, Japanese, and maritime culture themes. There are themed guest rooms such as the Navigation Room, Taoist Immortal Room, Cining Room, Ocean Room, Matcha Room, and British Royal Room, as well as specialty tea rooms for tasting tea and relaxation.

Time flows quietly, and years remain. This place is far from the hustle and bustle, with step by step ancient charm, small buildings rich in Huizhou architecture. Tranquil and serene, rows of black bricks and gray tiles paint a picture of time passing like an ink wash scroll. A gentle breeze blows, close your eyes and meditate, forget the noise, live poetically. Whether you are on a leisure vacation, a family trip, a company team-building, or a business trip, this is the ideal choice to rest your weary soul. I am waiting for you at the clubhouse!
