The scenery of Huangshan is unparalleled in its wonder. The mountains are steep, peaks layer upon layer, and grotesque rocks stand in myriad forms—some like standing figures, some like crouching beasts, others like immortals playing chess. All have been carved by wind and rain over hundreds of millions of years from granite. Among the rocks, pine trees break through crevices, their roots tightly gripping the cliff faces, their branches twisted and vigorous, the needles a vivid emerald green. The most famous is the Welcome Pine, which extends one arm as if inviting clouds and rosy clouds to drink. When the wind passes, the sound of pines surges, clear and piercing to the bone.

The sea of clouds is the soul of Huangshan. At dawn or after rain, white mist rises from the valley, quickly spreading over the mountain waist and swallowing deep ravines. Peaks float above the clouds like Penglai fairy islands; the cloud waves surge, gathering and dispersing, now like a light veil, now like galloping horses. As light and shadow shift, the mountain colors flicker, as if in a dream. At sunrise, golden light pierces the clouds, dyeing the vast sea of clouds in red and gold. Colors splash, and heaven and earth are transformed.

When winter snow covers the mountain, it becomes a crystal world. Pines wear silver armor, rocks are draped in white silk, and icicles hang from the cliffs, glittering and translucent. Hot springs steam, the mist interacting with cold air adds a sense of ethereality. As the seasons turn, the scenery of Huangshan changes: in spring, mountain flowers adorn the green; in summer, clouds and mists drip with emerald; in autumn, the forests are dyed in layers; in winter, the jade world is clear and pure.

Huangshan is silent, yet with stone as its bones, pines as its soul, clouds as its clothes, and light as its spirit, it weaves a flowing landscape scroll—something man cannot imitate, only nature can create such grandeur.
