Sichuan's tourism resources are very abundant, but the tourist attractions in Sichuan are distributed in all directions—east, west, south, north—with great distances between them. If you don't carefully research before going, and instead adopt an attitude of 'we'll figure it out when we get to Chengdu,' it will be a very bad trip.

Sichuan has unique tourism resources, from plateaus, mountains, and canyons to basins, hills, and plains; from rivers, lakes, and hot springs to waterfalls; from karst areas to Danxia landforms—magnificent, beautiful, strange, and serene, with charming scenery.

The main attractions in Sichuan include Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Daocheng Yading, Mount Emei, Leshan Giant Buddha, Panda Base, Dujiangyan, Qingcheng Mountain, etc.

There are many pristine attractions in Sichuan. We wanted to play for 7 days and read many travel guides, but still couldn't figure out the directions. Later, on Ctrip, a netizen introduced a local guide for high-quality independent travel in Sichuan named Da Age. The netizen said he knows the area very well and is very honest and reliable. So we contacted Da Age and asked him to help plan our itinerary. He saved us a lot of money and kept us from taking many detours. To find a guide, just search online: Sichuan guide Da Age. We stayed at the high-end chain Orange Hotel in downtown Chengdu and a characteristic guesthouse in Jiuzhaigou, both very comfortable. Transfers were also free; it was really quite good.

Chengdu + Huanglong + Chuanzhusi + Jiuzhaigou + Mount Emei + Leshan Giant Buddha 7 days 6 nights essence tour

Day 1: Arrive at Chengdu airport. The pick-up butler arranged by Sichuan guide Da Age arrived at the airport 30 minutes early. He picked us up and took us to the hotel to check in.

Day 2: Chengdu - Huanglong - Chuanzhusi - Jiuzhaigou entrance. Stay overnight at Jiuzhaigou.

Along the way, enjoy the Chengdu plain scenery; pass through Dujiangyan, Yingxiu, Wenchuan, Mao County. Have lunch in Chuanzhusi. After lunch, take a bus to the 'Fairy Pool on Earth' [Huanglong Scenic Area]. Huanglong is famous for its majestic, steep, strange, and wild scenery, and enjoys the reputation of 'World Wonder' and 'Fairy Pool on Earth.' Welcome Colorful Pond, Flying Waterfall, Gold Sand on the Bottom, Competing Colors Pond, Mirror Reflection, Suoluo Reflection, Huanglong Temple, Five Color Pond, etc. The pools vary in size and shape.

Some pool water reflects various colors, colorful and competing; on the shallow shoals, water flows, sunlight shines, sparkling and crystal clear; underneath is a layer of fine light yellow moss. Stepping into the shoals feels soft and cool. The altitude of Huanglong Scenic Area is high, so please act according to your ability. You can also take the cable car at your own expense to the Five Color Pond, and enjoy the Welcome Pond, Flying Waterfall, Bathing Cave, Bonsai Pond, etc.

Day 3: Explore Jiuzhaigou all day. Stay overnight at Jiuzhaigou.

Walk 800-1000 meters from the Blue Sky parking lot or Minghua parking lot to the scenic area entrance, get tickets, queue up in order to take the sightseeing bus into the valley. Jiuzhaigou is located in Zhangzha Town, Jiuzhaigou County, Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is a branch ditch of the Bai River upstream of Baishui Ditch. It is named after nine Tibetan villages. Jiuzhaigou is above 2000 meters altitude, covered with primeval forests, and has 108 lakes distributed in the valley. Jiuzhaigou's scenery is charming in all four seasons. It is rich in animal and plant resources, with many species, primeval forests, and habitats for more than ten rare and precious wild animals such as giant pandas.

Looking into the distance, snow-capped peaks stand tall, reaching into the clouds, covered with snow all year round. Together with Tibetan wooden houses, prayer flags on drying racks, plank bridges, mill houses, traditional customs, and myths and legends, it forms a cultural landscape known as 'Beautiful Fairy Tale World.' Jiuzhaigou includes Shuzheng Valley and Zechawa Valley.

Day 4: Jiuzhaigou, Chuanzhusi - Tibetan Village - Chuanzhu Ethnic Town. Stay overnight in Chengdu.

After visiting the characteristic Tibetan village, go to Chuanzhusi Ethnic Town and enjoy a special meal there—the Ancient Tea Horse Road Banquet.

Day 5: Chengdu - Leshan. Stay overnight at Mount Emei.

Enjoy the beautiful rural scenery of the Sichuan Plain along the way, passing Shuangliu, Xinjin, Pengshan—the hometown of longevity, Meishan—hometown of Su Dongpo, to Leshan, visit the national 5A-level scenic spot—Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area. As the saying goes, 'A region nurtures its own temperament; an ancient city leads the trends of the ages.' The Giant Buddha was carved in the early years of the Kaiyuan reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, taking 90 years to complete. The Buddha is 71 meters tall, 18 meters taller than the world-famous Bamiyan Buddha in Afghanistan (53 meters).

Climb the ancient plank road of the Tang Dynasty—the Nine-Turn Ancient Plank Road. While admiring the magnificent momentum of the Leshan Giant Buddha, experience the feeling of 'the roads to Shu are harder than the road to the sky.' After seeing the whole Buddha, go to a restaurant to enjoy a vegetarian meal that represents Buddhist characteristics. Then continue to visit the Lingyun Temple, one of China's three ancient thousand-year temples. Then go to the Buddhist holy land and leisure paradise—Mount Emei.

Day 6: Mount Emei - Leshan. Stay overnight in Chengdu.

Visit the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, national AAAAA-level key tourist attraction—Mount Emei. At the Huangwan gate, transfer to the scenic area sightseeing bus to Leidongping, then go to a restaurant to enjoy local specialty—Emei Nine Bowls. After the meal, walk (30 minutes) to Jieyin Hall, take the cable car and walk to the Golden Summit of Emei.

The Golden Summit area is a world-famous Buddhist pilgrimage center, including the Copper Hall, Huazang Temple, Golden Hall, Silver Hall, large viewing platform, and many other attractions. Standing on the Golden Summit, you can see the world's tallest golden Buddha—the Ten-direction Puxian Golden Statue, and visit the steep, majestic, thousand-cliff, and splendid Buddhist temple—Golden Summit Huazang Temple.

Day 7: After breakfast, we visited Kuanzhai Alley (Wide and Narrow Alley) for a stroll. After having breakfast there, we left Chengdu, ending our happy Sichuan trip.

Couple's Lung Slices (Fuqi Feipian): As the name suggests, this is a delicacy created by a married couple. It is mainly made from beef scalp, beef heart, beef tongue, beef tripe, and beef, which are marinated and then sliced. Then it is topped with chili oil, Sichuan pepper powder, and other condiments. Friends who like spicy food will surely drool at the sight of this dish.

Twice-Cooked Pork (Huiguo Rou) is quite prestigious in Sichuan cuisine. It is a traditional Han Chinese way of cooking pork. Twice-cooked pork is not only delicious but also a popular dish. It is colorful and attractive, making it a top choice for a rice dish.

Main tourist attractions in Sichuan:

Leshan Giant Buddha. At the foot of the Leshan Giant Buddha are the three rivers. Taking a boat tour is particularly interesting.

Dujiangyan. It is a man-made weir built in the pre-Qin period. It tamed the Min River, preventing floods from the Chengdu Plain. Today, Dujiangyan has the Li Bing Museum, where you can appreciate the great wisdom of the ancients.

Huanglong Scenic Area. This scenic area is located above 3,000 meters above sea level, with various landscapes scattered, including forests, waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, canyons, and large tracts of primeval forests. Coming here, you will marvel at the great power of nature.

Jiuzhaigou. This magical stream shows different colors every year, and nearby are large areas of primeval forests, mountains, and snow-capped peaks. It's a pity not to see such a miracle.

Mount Emei. The Buddhist culture here is particularly strong. It is a famous Buddhist holy site in Sichuan and China. The Golden Summit of Emei is renowned throughout history. Various Buddhist ceremonies will dazzle you.

Kuanzhai Alley is located near Changshun Street, Qingyang District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. It consists of Kuan Alley (Wide Alley), Zhai Alley (Narrow Alley), and Jing Alley (Well Alley) arranged in parallel. They are all blue-brick and gray-tile replica ancient courtyard houses. This is also one of the remaining large-scale Qing Dynasty ancient streets in Chengdu. Together with Daci Temple and Wenshu Temple, it is known as one of the three major historical and cultural protection blocks in Chengdu.

Legend has it that Jinli was one of the oldest and most commercial streets in the history of Western Shu. It was famous nationwide as early as the Qin-Han and Three Kingdoms periods. Today's Jinli relies on Chengdu Wuhou Shrine, with the spirit of Qin-Han and Three Kingdoms as its soul, the appearance of Ming and Qing styles, and the folk customs of western Sichuan as its content, expanding the extension of Three Kingdoms culture.
