Kuoqionggangri Glacier Day Trip
Kuoqionggangri Glacier Park is located in Geda Township, Damxung County, Lhasa, Tibet, at an altitude of about 5,500 meters. It is one of the world's three major continental glaciers, about 140 kilometers from Lhasa. The park is a unique natural eco-tourism area featuring glaciers, snow-capped mountains, lakes, and meadows. You can get up close to the glacier and experience the fun of climbing it yourself.
We set off from Lhasa at 10:00 in the morning and it took about two and a half hours to reach the scenic area. After entering the gate, we still had to drive for over half an hour to get there. Before heading out, make sure you're prepared for altitude sickness. After all, an altitude of 5,500 meters is no joke. Also, eat and drink well to have the energy for climbing. (I didn't prepare well, so I just played around at the foot of the glacier for a while.)
My friend and I went in late October, and at that time tickets were 149 yuan per person. Now it's a bit cheaper at 138 yuan per person, and you can buy tickets on Ctrip. The photos include ones from when my friend and I went, and some from other friends. All I can say is that weather is crucial—when you get good weather, it's absolutely stunning! When my friend and I went, the weather was fine on the way, but it turned bad when we arrived, so the photos didn't turn out great. Still, it was a worthwhile trip!
