"Sacred Lhasa, Healthy Journey" – 2022 Lhasa Four Seasons Tourism Promotional Roadshow
On July 31, 2022, the '2022 Lhasa Four Seasons Tourism Promotional Roadshow', hosted by the Lhasa Tourism Development Bureau and co-organized by the Changzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, was successfully held at the Sheraton Changzhou Hotel. This event marked the second stop of the Lhasa Four Seasons Tourism promotional tour. In addition to the first stop in Fuzhou and this stop in Changzhou, the series will continue in Changsha and Beijing. Under the theme 'Sacred Lhasa, Healthy Journey', the roadshow brought the living ancient city of Lhasa to life through live performances, multimedia presentations, and more.
Lhasa boasts snow-capped plateau landscapes, magnificent ancient architecture, vibrant ethnic culture, warm hospitality, and a legacy of revolutionary spirit. At the roadshow, Yuan Ning, Deputy Director of the Lhasa Tourism Development Bureau, vividly presented the unique charm of Lhasa's seasons, culture, and natural resources, playing a key role in attracting Changzhou residents to visit.
The roadshow kicked off with lively Tibetan singing and dancing. Among the distinguished guests were Jiang Sujing, Deputy Director of the Changzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, and other officials. Yuan Ning focused on the Lhasa Northern Ring Route, which features one main, two secondary, and four branch lines, and provided an in-depth introduction to Lhasa's finest attractions. He highlighted world heritage sites such as the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Norbulingka; the magnificent plateau scenery of Namtso Lake, Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, and Siling Co; and the Yarlung Zangbo River Middle Valley Black-necked Crane Nature Reserve, a national-level protected area.
In terms of itinerary recommendations, Deputy Director Yuan Ning introduced five featured travel routes: 'Lhasa World Heritage and Sacred Lakes & Snow Mountains Tour,' 'Lhasa Folk Customs Tour,' 'Panoramic Tour of Lhasa City and Surrounding Counties,' 'Mystery Exploration Tour,' and 'Trekking Adventure.' These five routes encompass virtually all of Lhasa's must-visit attractions and in-depth travel destinations.
In addition to scenic spots and travel routes, Deputy Director Yuan Ning highlighted Lhasa's folk experience tourism. He vividly presented the grand Tibetan New Year celebrations, the unique Shoton Festival, and the spectacular Dangji Ren Horse Racing Festival, a shining cultural tourism trademark of Lhasa.
In the 'food, accommodation, entertainment, and shopping' segments, Deputy Director Yuan Ning presented a refreshing 'Lhasa feast.' For food: Tibetan noodles, sweet tea, butter tea, tsampa, beef tongue, and Tibetan hotpot – all showcasing the unique allure of Tibetan cuisine. The spotlight also fell on the new 'Taste of Tibet' food street, where Tibetan home-style banquets are the highlight. This trendy spot is not only a fashionable check-in destination for the young but also a 'museum of delicacies' offering a deep dive into traditional Tibetan food culture. For distinctive stays: Lhasa boasts the ultra-luxurious InterContinental Lhasa Paradise Hotel as well as the charming Ancient Tibetan Splendor and Deji Tibetan Home, authentic boutique guesthouses with strong Tibetan style. On the entertainment front, Deputy Director Yuan Ning introduced the spectacular open-air performance 'Princess Wencheng,' set against Lhasa's natural scenery. It tells the historical tale of Princess Wencheng's marriage to Songtsen Gampo over 1,300 years ago. With magnificent staging, dramatic twists, beautiful music, and a touching story, the show offers visitors an unforgettable feast of Tibetan culture.
Through Deputy Director Yuan Ning's presentation, it became clear that Lhasa offers not only splendid culture, breathtaking nature, and rich folk customs, but also fresh and exciting tourism formats. These include educational tours, wellness retreats, red tourism (revolutionary-themed), and rural experience tours, enriching the travel experience.
The roadshow also featured the poetic promotional film 'Happy Lhasa,' which weaves together Lhasa's mountains, lakes, culture, and history to showcase its unique tourism resources. Accompanied by Tibetan song and dance performances, it treated guests to a vibrant feast of Lhasa's landscapes and heritage.
In addition to tourism promotion, the Lhasa Tourism Development Bureau also presented investment projects for cultural tourism. Deputy Director Yuan Ning highlighted over ten key projects, including the Niangre Tibetan Opera Tourism Culture Town project in Chengguan District, the Dezhong Hot Spring development and Gyama Scenic Area project in Maizhokunggar County, the Qunggoi Hill Hot Spring boutique guesthouse, the Baina Tourist Service Center, and the Qungmogangri Snow Mountain adventure camp construction project.
The event also included interactive displays of travel souvenirs and a photo exhibition of Lhasa. Through travel brochures and exquisite gifts, the organizers gave visitors a multi-faceted introduction to Lhasa's cuisine, scenery, itineraries, and quality tourism products. The souvenir area featured local specialties such as butter tea, sweet tea, saffron, and Tibetan honey. Meanwhile, enterprises like those associated with the Potala Palace and 'Princess Wencheng' showcased cultural creative products and intangible heritage items, including thangka, Nyemo Tibetan incense, and woodcarvings.
In the final heartfelt invitation, leaders from the Lhasa Tourism Development Bureau extended a year-round welcome to Changzhou residents, inviting them to travel to Tibet and Lhasa to experience its unique cultural depth. Through this roadshow, guests from all walks of life witnessed a new Lhasa where ancient charm and modern development coexist. The successful event vigorously promoted Lhasa's tourism products and routes, helped more people learn about Lhasa, and is sure to attract more travelers to Tibet and Lhasa.
