With its year-round spring-like climate, blue skies, white clouds, alpine meadows, snowy mountains, gorges, karst formations, ancient towns, ethnic charm, and breathtaking landscapes and customs… Yunnan is a dream destination for so many. National Day holiday is coming—plan ahead!

Day 1 – Arrive in Kunming, Guandu Ancient Town, Jinma Biji Archway

Day 2 – Jindian Park, Yunnan Wildlife Park

Day 3 – Stone Forest and Jiuxiang Tour

Day 4 – Travel to Lijiang, Shuhe Ancient Town, Lijiang Ancient Town

Day 5 – Dongba Valley Snow Mountain Gorge Performance Park, Baisha Ancient Town

This route is the optimal plan for combining Kunming and Lijiang. Five days to deeply experience the magnificent Yunnan, perfect for first-time visitors from outside the province. You can see more sights in limited time, making it a 'great deal' with higher value. Let's go and explore the hidden gems of Yunnan!

----------------------------------------------

Kunming: After flying into Kunming Changshui International Airport, out-of-town visitors can choose the nearby Howard Johnson Flower City Kunming hotel. It's convenient for getting around, and the hotel even has its own scenic area and museum, making it excellent value – an ideal first stop in Yunnan. Enjoy the 'City of Flowers' and immerse yourself in the Spring City amid eight million blooms.

Lijiang: In Lijiang, you can opt for the Jieluofu Mountain Hotel. It's not far from the main attractions, set in the tranquility of Dongba Valley away from the crowds. The boutique, understated luxury environment offers a great rest, and you can gaze at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from afar.

Day 1: Guandu Ancient Town, Jinma Biji Archway (Free entry)

After check-in and a short rest, head to Guandu Ancient Town! Located in the southeastern suburbs of Kunming, it was historically known as 'Little Yunnan'. The Guandu Archway and the Diamond Pagoda are must-sees. At night, the area comes alive with brilliant lights and performances, and the street lined with ethnic handicrafts and trinkets bustles with visitors. Be sure to try the local specialty, Guandu baba (a type of flatbread).

Jinma Biji Archway, dating back to the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty, stands in the heart of Kunming. It was once one of the city's 'Eight Scenic Spots'. When night falls, the enchanting lights and constant stream of people make it a perfect photo spot. By day, blue skies frame your shots; by night, the contrast creates stunning pictures. You simply must experience it!

Day 2: Jindian Park, Yunnan Wildlife Park (Tickets: around 150 yuan)

Jindian (Golden Temple) is a famous Taoist temple in Yunnan. It's the largest and best-preserved pure bronze cast hall in China. Here, you can calm your mind, breathe fresh air, ring the bell in the bell tower, trace the marks of long history, and snap some beautiful photos in classical style.

Yunnan Wildlife Park is the province's first integrated tourism zone combining wildlife breeding, exhibition, and viewing. Watch giraffes nudge you for food, restless black bears, pitiful-looking raccoon dogs, greedy sika deer, indifferent white-eyelid monkeys, strolling zebras, peacocks that love to show off (now you know what Yunnan people mean when they call someone a 'peacock', ha ha), aggressive rhinos, and many more animals whose names you'll forget. An afternoon there will still leave you wanting more.

Day 3: Stone Forest and Jiuxiang Tour (Tickets: around 150 yuan)

The Stone Forest is hailed as 'the world's most wondrous sight' and 'the home of Ashima'. Mountains are covered with stones, each seemingly with a soul—resembling mice, elephants, resting horses, or embracing lovers. Shaped as if carved but entirely natural. The incredible craftsmanship of nature has created this breathtaking Stone Forest, truly awe-inspiring!

Jiuxiang's top ten sights are equally enchanting, with a huge karst cave filled with countless stalagmites rising from the ground and stalactites hanging from above. Also worth mentioning: Yiliang roast duck is a local specialty with over a century of history—be sure to try it when you get the chance.

Day 4: Shuhe Ancient Town (around 30 yuan), Lijiang Ancient Town (Free entry)

Lijiang, a world-renowned tourist city in Yunnan, lives up to its reputation. From Kunming Station, you can take a high-speed train directly to Lijiang in about three hours, enjoying the diverse terrain and scenery of Yunnan along the way. Shuhe is an important part of the Lijiang Ancient Town UNESCO World Heritage site and was selected by CCTV as one of 'China's Charming Towns' in 2005. With blooming flowers in spring, cool shade in summer, crisp autumn air, and abundant winter sunshine, it's a great choice any time of year.

At night, Lijiang's Dayan Ancient Town glows with lights and fills with crowds. Countless quirky little pubs line the streets, and performers singing and playing are everywhere. The Naxi people are masters of drum percussion; in many drum shops, the owners perform and sing while you browse, making the visit pure fun. Square Street brims with distinctive ethnic retro charm. A meal of authentic Lijiang cured spare ribs in the old town is an absolute must. Also try Lijiang baba and chickpea jelly.

Day 5: Snow Mountain Gorge Performance Park, Baisha Ancient Town (around 200 yuan)

As a destination blending exploration, sightseeing, and cultural immersion, the Dongba Valley Snow Mountain Gorge Performance Park in Lijiang is absolutely worth a visit. It's recommended to book a room the night before at the Jieluofu Mountain Hotel right next to the park, so you can rest well and gaze at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Inside the park, you'll find abundant Naxi cultural elements: ethnic welcome shows, Naxi blessing ceremonies, and dramatic scenes from the 'Mufu Storm' series (Mufu Academy, gold mine robbery skits, Mufu Buddhist connections, the Valley of Lovers' Sacrifice, Mucun Flower Street) that let you dive into immersive story experiences. There's also the 'Mirror of the Sky', glass walkway, rainbow staircase, and gorge trails—perfect for photo ops that instantly look like blockbuster shots and showcase your style.

In the evening, wander through Baisha Ancient Town—a quiet, timeless corner on the edge of the city that waits serenely for visitors. Hand embroidery, jade curios, ethnic crafts, folk drink shops, and artisans devoted to their crafts. The Dongba script on the walls silently tells the story of this culture. At that moment, you'll want to stay, blend in, and start a slower, laid-back life with them.

Five days fly by in a blink. Your Yunnan trip will definitely leave you wanting more. There are so many other beautiful places to see: Dianchi Lake and Green Lake are best visited when seagulls arrive (November to March), plus enchanting Dali, the charismatic Fuxian Lake, mysterious Shangri-La, the food hubs of Dehong and Xishuangbanna… countless destinations that you'll only truly appreciate once you visit.

1. Yunnan is a high-altitude region, and Lijiang is close to snow mountains with significant temperature swings. Those with heart conditions, high blood pressure, respiratory issues, severe colds, or other conditions not suited for high-altitude outdoor activities should take extra care.

2. Bring warm clothing and rain gear, and don't forget sun protection.

3. Keep your ID with you. Students, military personnel, and journalists might bring relevant documents, as some attractions offer discounted tickets.

4. Besides fixed costs like flights, train tickets, and admission fees, expenses vary depending on your route, transport (city buses, taxis, self-driving, group tours), eating habits, whether you bring children, and other factors. Plan your budget accordingly.

4. Yunnan has many ethnic minorities; avoid remarks that might undermine ethnic unity.

5. During the National Day holiday, traveler numbers are high. Take personal safety precautions (wear a mask at all times, comply with local inspection regulations, etc.).

------------------------------------------

Finally, we wish you a joyful trip in Yunnan, and may you gather wonderful memories during the National Day holiday, leaving a lasting impression of beautiful Yunnan. Magnificent Yunnan welcomes friends from all over the world!
