Crisp mountain breezes

Warm sunlight in the old town

Blending poetry and everyday life

Settling into warmth and simplicity

This must be the most beautiful and unforgettable impression Lijiang leaves on everyone!

Many people long for Lijiang with an inexplicable affection. It seems to have become an indispensable landscape in life. Only when you come to Lijiang can you find yourself while strolling through the old town, can you go wild on the bar street for once, and can you trace life’s earliest roots in its pristine nature. Here, you can freely frolic and enjoy all kinds of laziness.

This April, I came to the ancient town of Lijiang again, not looking forward to the flashy bars or the dazzling streets, but only wanting to reclaim the time that truly belongs to Lijiang.

Before the May Day crowds arrived, I flew over the mountains from Guangzhou to Lijiang. Already excited high in the sky, I drew closer to this dreamland! As we neared, the high mountains and rivers around Lijiang filled me with joy. After landing, the golden highland barley fields looked especially beautiful — finally back on the plateau.

It takes only about half an hour from Lijiang Airport to the city center, and soon we were settled in our guesthouse. After a simple dinner, I walked alone onto the streets of Lijiang. No wonder everyone says Lijiang is perfect for a romantic encounter — how can anyone remain unmoved with such romantic scenes all around?

Quietly strolling along the water’s edge, I recalled the times I first visited Lijiang many years ago. Unlike last time, I discovered many tranquil spots perfect for daydreaming alone.

I even came across a peacock on the street.

When evening fell, even the peacock closed its eyes drowsily.

Besides the peacock, I also saw a little Xiang pig in Lijiang — absolutely adorable.

So many people come to Lijiang, some even settling down permanently. Just how wonderful is this hidden paradise on the plateau?

As night deepened, I returned to my guesthouse to rest, looking forward to meeting an even more beautiful and authentic side of Lijiang tomorrow.

Spring colors in Lijiang are truly vibrant — the sun is bright red, the sky deep blue, the treetops tender green, and the winter jasmine blossoms a delicate yellow…

If I had to recommend a great spot to enjoy spring in Lijiang, I’d definitely suggest the Lijiang Eternal Love scenic area.

In spring, Lijiang Eternal Love is filled with the scent of flowers. Cherry blossoms, wisteria, begonias and more are all in bloom, especially beautiful. So the scenic area has incorporated flower-related elements into a series of outdoor programs. Let me take you to see!

Right at the entrance, two ‘tumbler angels’ sway back and forth, waving to visitors.

Performers dressed in red, white and black greet guests with a flower fan welcome dance — what a lively scene!

Entering the lobby, you’ll see many free lockers to the left, so you can travel light even with lots of luggage. At the entrance, staff in traditional Naxi costumes guide visitors through ticket checks.

Once inside, you’ll spot a flower fairy sitting in a bubble tent — utterly charming~

Under the sunlight, it looks like a colorful bubble, and the pure white rug inside is strewn with red and yellow petals — simply dreamy.

[Right after entering, you’ll see a pure white stupa]

[Right after entering, you’ll see a pure white stupa]

Behind the stupa is the Sanduo Temple. Sanduo is the god of war, protector and god of love in the hearts of the local people. Enshrined inside are Sanduo and his two wives, one Tibetan and one Bai. The heavenly incense burner in front symbolizes primitive worship — people’s wishes rise to heaven through the smoke.

Wandering through Lijiang Eternal Love, you’re bathed in sunshine everywhere, making everything especially beautiful.

On the street, you might also bump into a flower fairy.

A lovely flower fairy sits gracefully in the center, and visitors, men and women alike, all raise their phones — no one wants to miss such beauty. The charm of Lijiang Eternal Love is well worth sharing; it exudes romance everywhere.

As I strolled, suddenly a light and familiar melody, ‘Little Baby’, drifted over — street musicians from Songcheng had started their performance. Many people raised their phones to record. On this sun-drenched afternoon, what would you most want to say to your beloved?

We all know Yunnan is a province of many colors, from Xishuangbanna in the south to Shangri-La in the north, with beautiful scenery everywhere. If you want to experience all of Yunnan’s diverse beauty at once, you have to visit Lijiang Eternal Love.

The Dai architecture in the Sunshine Tribe area combines Southeast Asian artistic features with traditional Dai style — a miniature of Dai architecture and folk art. The glittering golden Dai buildings reflect the Dai people’s love for life.

In Lijiang Eternal Love, every corner is perfect for relaxing and enjoying.

There are also many souvenirs available in the park.

If you’re looking for a change of luck, why not come and ring this bell?

After ringing, you can write down your wish and hang it on the pavilion. Tiny bells attached tinkle in the wind with a pleasant sound.

Another interesting spot is the Walking Marriage Bridge, a dating place for the Mosuo people. Would you like to walk across it with your partner?

Legend says that for Mosuo people who cross the bridge, ‘men do not marry, women do not wed’, so it’s also called ‘the Number One Magpie Bridge under Heaven’. The bridge is hung with countless love vows, expressing hope for beautiful love and prayers for fulfillment.

In Lijiang Eternal Love, there are also many delicious foods to try. If you’re hungry, just look around.

My favorite is the hand-pounded rice cake — chewy and springy, dipped in crushed peanuts and sesame seeds, leaving a lingering fragrance with every bite. You just can’t stop eating.

‘Mu Mansion soliciting a son-in-law’ is a traditional Songcheng program. For the visitor who catches the brocade ball, this might be the most unforgettable interactive game of the Flower Festival.

The lucky catcher gets to bow to Mu’s daughter upstairs, making the crowd roar with laughter.

Recently, if you visit Lijiang, you’ll see many trending videos about Eternal Love, including a very eye-catching flash mob activity.

Here comes the ‘flower-obsessed flash mob’ — strong beats, sizzling dance moves.

Spectators can’t just stand and watch; eventually, everyone joins in, dancing to the rhythm.

Spring is the season when all flowers bloom. In Lijiang Eternal Love, besides the excitement, there’s a romantic spot I recommend: Sakura Valley.

In flower-filled Lijiang, the scenic area is even more awash in blossoms, with clusters of cherry blossoms especially beautiful~

The language of cherry blossoms is happiness, never giving up in a lifetime — representing elegant, simple and pure love. Cherry blossoms have always symbolized love and hope; a tree full of them embodies youthful vitality.

Before, to admire cherry blossoms you’d have to travel abroad to Japan, or at least to the campus of Wuhan University. Now you can see them right here in Lijiang Eternal Love, blooming in vast expanses — such a splendid sight!

If you walk further down Sakura Valley, you’ll reach Mosuo Village, where you can experience Mosuo folk customs and step into a Naxi household to glimpse their past daily life. During festivals, people dance around the bonfire.

Blowing bubbles instantly brings adults back to childhood.

The live performance ‘Love Song of Lijiang’ alternates between surging floods and bursting flames. The must-see show ‘Lijiang Eternal Love’ is a visual feast and a soul-stirring experience! Every performance earns rave reviews, delighting audiences of all ages.

‘Love Song of Lijiang’ tells a poignant and stirring love story.

A beautiful Naxi girl meets a brave Tibetan lad.

Gaji Mi and Abuda fall in love.

Their love violates tribal laws.

The enraged chief does everything he can to obstruct them.

Suddenly, a volcano erupts and lava flows.

The tribe kneels and prays for heavenly protection.

Then the courageous Abuda steps forward,

swings a giant axe to split the rock.

A mighty flood bursts forth and extinguishes the fire.

This is ‘Love Song of Lijiang’, passed down by villagers through generations. Watching the live performance was truly breathtaking — a perfect blend of water and fire art.

The grand song and dance spectacle ‘Lijiang Eternal Love’ is the centerpiece. Using IMAX 3D cinematic visuals, it’s a show with absolutely no dull moment!

The show consists of five acts plus a prologue. First, the prologue ‘Naxi Genesis’ tells of the Naxi people, an ancient and wise ethnic group who created a brilliant Dongba civilization in harsh prehistoric conditions.

[When the giant divine bird appeared, it was stunning — it was actually formed by actors joining together!]

Act One ‘Lugu Lake’s Kingdom of Women’ presents the serene and beautiful Lugu Lake and the ancient, mysterious Kingdom of Women — truly an enchanting paradise on earth.

Act Two ‘Legend of the Caravan’

Lijiang became famous because of the Tea Horse Road. In a sense, Lijiang’s glory was trodden out by horse hooves. This act tells of a caravan tasked by the imperial court and Mu Mansion on the rugged Tea Horse Road.

To this day, stones deeply pitted by horse hooves remain on the old road. Similar stories continually unfold along this route — climbing mountains, crossing gorges, encountering bandits, even sacrificing lives.

Act Three — ‘The Ancient Road’s Modern Breeze’. Generation after generation, caravans endure. The Tea Horse Road, known as the ‘Southern Silk Road’, is a civilizational pathway for trade between Southwest China’s ethnic minorities and foreign lands. In this act, you’ll see dances from different regions — truly dazzling.

One act follows another, applause never stops, no dull moment — and of course, the performers’ good looks are another highlight.

Act Four ‘Jade Dragon’s Third Kingdom’. The Naxi people revere free love. From their original walking marriage system to the era of ‘parental say and matchmaker’s words’, they paid a heavy price for love.

Epilogue ‘In Search of Shambhala’. As seasons change and stars shift, we emerge from history. The snow-capped mountains still stand, the old town hums like a song.

At the very end, the stage curtains opened section by section. Suddenly, a dazzling light appeared before my eyes — a model of the snow mountain came into view, and just then sunlight fell upon it, a real-life ‘Golden Mountain under the Sun’.

A white stupa descended from above, countless prayer flags sweeping toward the audience — an intense atmosphere rich in Tibetan cultural flavor.

The hour-long performance concluded. Each part had its own story and narrative, connected seamlessly. Through various high-tech effects, visitors felt immersed, and there was even interaction between performers and the audience. This viewing experience was fantastic and deeply impressive.

After the show, outside was the lively bonfire dance again, with everyone enthusiastically joining in.

Another unmissable attraction at the Lijiang Eternal Love Grand Theater is the 5D live drama ‘The Great Earthquake’.

The performance realistically reenacts the terrifying scenes of the Wenchuan earthquake — mountains collapsing, buildings crumbling, and a 3,000-cubic-meter flood instantly gushing down…

Many spectators around me were moved to tears.

The drama is woven from real stories, showcasing the boundless love of the Chinese nation united in disaster relief. Highly recommended.

Overall, at Lijiang Eternal Love, besides the core shows ‘Lijiang Eternal Love’, ‘Love Song of Lijiang’ and ‘The Great Earthquake’, there are many other wonderful performances. I believe such a unique experience can add some romantic memories to your Lijiang trip~
