Yan'an Travel|This Hidden Gem Tourist Attraction is a Must-Visit
The old revolutionary base area—Yan'an has always been a place I yearn to visit. This summer, I came to Yan'an and discovered a new red-themed scenic spot—Yan'an Red Street. Yan'an Red Street is the first large-scale immersive cultural, commercial, and tourism block with a red tourism theme in China. It consists of a red-themed street, a cluster of cave-dwelling themed hotels, and Yan Lake—the only urban lake in Yan'an. Here is a practical guide after my personal visit.
Must-Visit Attractions at Yan'an Red Street:
'Return to Yan'an' is the first red-themed indoor situational experience drama in China, and I highly recommend it. It is said that since its premiere in June, nearly every one of the three daily shows has been packed. It is a moving show without seats, and as you walk through changing scenes, the immersive atmosphere is extremely strong. It realistically simulates the natural scenes of wind and snow during the Long March, making you feel like the protagonist as you move with the plot. You truly experience the hardships and dangers of the Red Army's Long March.
The Join Forces Experience Hall is built based on the historical event of the Central Red Army entering the city from 'Anding Gate' in 1937, combined with the architectural features of the ancient Yan'an city gate tower. The Long March history unfolds grandly on the first floor. Being there, you are deeply touched by the Long March spirit. Every step of the revolutionary martyrs was extremely difficult, yet they achieved great victory amid hardship. Creating today's prosperous era, thinking about it brings tears to my eyes and a surge of righteousness in my heart. On the second floor, audio headphones allow you to listen to touching stories from the Long March, including those of known and unknown unsung heroes. The third floor is a themed live-streaming room where you can broadcast and take photos.
After walking through the Join Forces Tower, the countless mountains and rivers of the Chinese Revolution surge endlessly in my mind.
Red Coin Art Museum
The museum exhibits currency from the Chinese Soviet National Bank to the first set of RMB issued upon the establishment of the People's Bank of China in 1948, as well as most of the documentary materials, commemorative coins, and medals of the five sets of RMB issued after the founding of New China. Regular research courses on currency history and financial warfare are held here. Those interested in finance can come to learn.
Science and Technology Culture Interactive Center
The Science and Technology Culture Interactive Center adopts new design concepts and technological creativity. It takes the pursuit of Yan'an Spirit as its thread and the formation of Yan'an Spirit as its timeline, recreating the nurturing, formation, maturation, and development of Yan'an Spirit. Inside, there are also book bars, tea cafes, etc., making it an excellent place for rest and socializing.
'Heroes on the Covert Front Hall'
This is the first and currently the only immersive experience hall designed with the backdrop of covert operations during the revolutionary war era. The venue offers three special training courses: disguise, secret writing and transmission, and telegraph sending, along with two interactive scene experiences. Fans of Republic of China spy dramas will definitely feel a sense of familiarity, bringing everyone back to that era of war and heroic spirit. In the code room, you can play as an 'underground party member' and experience the 'lurking' mission. Staff in the code room will guide you on how to send encrypted messages using the telegraph machine with 'beep-beep' sounds.
Top 1 Recommendation for Red Tourism—Yan'an Red Street. In just one day on Red Street, I revisited many revolutionary stories, learned about the development of the Yan'an Spirit, and received a profound ideological cleansing. I believe I will soon bring my family and friends to 'Return to Yan'an' to experience the strong red cultural atmosphere here together.
