The endurance race training camp is coming!

Dispel winter cold with enthusiasm, traverse thousands of mountains and rivers on foot!

Finally, we've been waiting for you! From December 31, 2022 to January 3, 2023, the 2022 Huanglong Ultimate Endurance Race · Training Camp, themed "Snowy Huanglong, Warm Songzhou," will be officially held in Songpan!

Since the first Huanglong Ultimate Endurance Race in 2018, this year marks the fifth edition of the event. Now, the Huanglong Ultimate Endurance Race has gradually become a signature event of Songpan County.

This is a visual feast.

The activity route of the Huanglong Ultimate Endurance Race organically connects Huanglong, Qicang Valley, Xuebaoding, Songzhou Ancient City, and the local Tea Horse Road.

During the event, you can take in all the natural and cultural scenery along the way: snowy mountains, colorful ponds, alpine lakes, waterfalls, forests, canyons, streams, ancient temples, villages, folk customs, and more.

This is a spectacular race.

It is reported that the event locations for this race are Songzhou Ancient City, Huanglong Scenic Area, and the Xuebaoding group course of the Huanglong Ultimate Endurance Race.

100 participants will follow two different routes—the speed climbing route and the training camp route—to engage in a thrilling sports competition this winter!

From the entrance of Huanglong Scenic Area to Five Color Pond: distance 4.4 km, elevation gain about 380 meters, altitude range 3190–3570 meters.

From Panning for Gold Valley entrance to Cuoni Changhai Lake, Shangnami Village, Niri Valley, Shangniba Village: distance 37.68 km, elevation gain 1528+ meters, altitude 2850–4412 meters. Cut-off times are set at Shangnami Village and Shangniba Village; participants may choose to continue or take a vehicle back to Songzhou Ancient City before the cut-off.

This is also an event full of safety.

Since the Huanglong Ultimate Endurance Race was adjusted to the Huanglong Ultimate Endurance Race Training Camp in 2021, trail running enthusiasts participating in the training camp have enjoyed greater safety while competing.

To accommodate accompanying family members of trail running enthusiasts, relatives can choose the support service package. The main difference is that accompanying family members can enjoy free time in Songzhou Ancient City on the third day instead of participating in the professional route experience.

Registration requirements (scroll up and down to view)

1. This activity requires participants to complete a 30-kilometer cross-country route in one day using self-navigation and self-support. Participants must have some outdoor hiking and trail running experience, be able to act independently, and use navigation devices (watches, mobile apps, etc.).

2. Participants must be between 18 and 65 years old, as verified by ID card information.

3. Participants must have experience in hiking or trail running over 30 kilometers in a single day within the last two years, or have completed a 30-kilometer road run. Relevant proof must be uploaded for review during registration.

4. Participants must have the ability to self-support in mountainous areas and manage problems that may arise from mountain activities, especially the following:

(1) Know how to deal with adverse weather conditions (wind, rain, fog, snow, cold, etc.) caused by altitude without external assistance;

(2) Know how to manage physiological or psychological issues resulting from high altitude, digestive problems, muscle or joint pain, and various minor ailments;

(3) Fully understand that safety in such mountain activities depends on the participant's own ability to adapt to potential problems.

5. Participants must not have any diseases unsuitable for exercise or high-altitude activities. The following conditions disqualify participation: congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease; hypertension or cerebrovascular disease; myocarditis or other heart diseases; coronary artery disease and severe arrhythmia; diabetes with high or low blood sugar; colds within one week before the activity; other diseases unsuitable for exercise; pregnancy.

Songpan County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province, where the Huanglong Ultimate Endurance Race is held, is located on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, about 300 kilometers from Chengdu. The Min River, an important water source for the Chengdu Plain, originates here.

Everyone who participates in the event will marvel at the scenery along the way: the winter wonderland of Huanglong, the ancient charm of Songzhou Ancient City, the snow and ice fantasy of Mouni Valley... countless beautiful sights converge here.

So what are the highlights and scenic spots of this year's course?

The majestic Minshan Mountains embrace the ancient city, with the Min River flowing around its walls. Songzhou Ancient City has a history of over 1,400 years.

During the event, why not wander among ancient buildings, step on the bluestone streets, and trace the imprints of time in this plateau ancient city, feeling its weight and vicissitudes?

Entering Huanglong in winter feels like stepping into an ice and snow wonderland.

From the scenic area entrance to Five Color Pond, the entire forest is covered in silver, with thousands of trees and branches dressed in fluffy white snow.

Snowflakes decorate the forest and melt into the Five Color Pond; the travertine pools instantly become sapphire-like gems inlaid with platinum, captivating at first sight.

Follow the training camp route into an ice and snow race track.

At Panning for Gold Valley, cross a 4,400-meter pass and have fun in the snow.

Encounter the crystal-clear Cuoni Changhai Lake, nestled among snowy mountains like a jade emerald fallen to earth.

Head to Shangnami Village, surrounded by mountains and lush forests, overlooking the small village in the valley.

Then enter the Niri Valley area, stand at the highest point to gaze at Xuebaoding, and take in the majesty of the sacred mountain.

Finally, reach the endpoint—Shangniba Village—and enjoy the joy brought by this journey.
