What is the 148 yuan budget standard room in Luoyang really like? Ze Qi takes you to find out [Ibis Hotel (Luoyang Baolong Plaza Branch)]

With hurried steps, I arrived here. Fortunately, I checked into the Ibis Hotel (Luoyang Baolong Plaza Branch) and chose a superior zero-pressure king-size bed room for one night. A night of sound sleep completely eliminated the fatigue of the journey. The next morning, I quickly packed my backpack and left, returning to work. Through this stay, I discovered many shining points of the Ibis Hotel (Luoyang Baolong Plaza Branch), as well as some shortcomings. I have summarized them below. This is just one person’s opinion, for your reference only.

The hotel lobby is on the third floor. The air in the lobby is relatively well-ventilated, with no peculiar smells (such as smoke or disinfectant), and the temperature is comfortable, not cold. The overall decoration and layout are fresh and simple, with vibrant colors. There is ample seating area and also a computer area (whether the computers can be used is unknown—I didn’t turn them on).

While checking in at the front desk, a traveler was negotiating with the staff about some checkout issues. There were only two front desk staff members, and the three ladies (the traveler plus two staff) were discussing for a full ten minutes without any resolution, leaving me waiting on the side. It wasn’t until I strongly stated that I needed to check in quickly that someone came to assist me. She apologized, saying she thought I was with that traveler, which left me utterly confused. On a positive note, both check-in and checkout were very fast, and I was quite satisfied with that.

Overall guest room environment

The room I stayed in faced east-west, so it was well-ventilated, but there was obvious dust on the windowsill. The white window curtains had noticeable stains—a negative point, which annoyed me. The room had good daylight, but at night, the lighting was a bit dim, giving a twilight romance feel. I wasn’t used to it. The hotel’s listing on a certain group-buying website (Meituan) indicated a room area of 23 square meters. Actual measurement, excluding wall thickness and corners, was only 19 square meters—a discrepancy of 17.4%, which I found unsatisfactory. I can accept public area allocation when buying an apartment, but do I have to bear the ‘public area’ when staying in a hotel room? That’s ridiculous!

Guest room hardware facilities

To be fair, the internet speed was not slow—maybe because there weren’t many guests that day. Watching videos was smooth, but gaming was a stretch. The air conditioning was a central unit, with clean vents and no odor from the airflow. The remote control was responsive—good. There were 2 bedside lamps, 3 wall lamps, and 1 decorative lamp, but the room was still a bit dark at night. The TV channels were limited but watchable. There was an emergency fire mask and flashlight, but no paid snacks or items, including condoms. So, folks, if you need anything, you’ll have to fend for yourselves.

Guest room hygiene

The floor was clean, with no obvious stains or damage. Two pairs of disposable slippers were provided, of decent quality. However, there were no slippers or non-slip mats in the shower, making me very careful, like dancing ballet, afraid of slipping. The duvet cover and pillowcases were relatively clean, and the pillow cores inside were also clean—satisfactory. But under the sheet at the head of the bed, there were some loose hairs on the mattress. I didn’t have the courage to dig deeper. It was clear that the cleaning only cared about the surface, neglecting the nooks and crannies. The bathroom was not small and not cramped. The sink had obvious cup marks, the surface of the hand soap dispenser was quite dirty, and the soap inside was just a bit left, not refilled. The toothbrush storage box had obvious white dust on its surface. I have to say, they need to work on details. The toilet was relatively new and flushed well. The shower was spacious, not cramped, with good water pressure and hot water coming quickly—satisfactory and good. But again, a non-slip mat was missing, as mentioned earlier, so I won’t repeat.

The bed had good support, medium firmness, leaning toward firm, which I personally liked. The mattress had slight unevenness, but overall it allowed the spine to maintain a natural extension and fit the body well. The soundproofing at night was good—I couldn’t hear neighbors talking. But maybe it was because no one was next door, haha. Anyway, it was quiet.

But!!! At 2:30 AM that night, there was a terrifying ‘hiccup’ sound! What was going on? Please watch the video (Bilibili, Panda Video—‘Yiqiyijianfang’).
