Henan's Jiuzhaigou, Luoyang's Baiyun Mountain: A Poetic Landscape of Mountains and Waters, Welcoming Its Most Beautiful Autumn Colors

Jiuzhaigou is beautiful, but how could China, with its vast territory and abundant resources, have only Jiuzhaigou as its unique beauty? In the Central Plains, Henan also has a scenic area comparable to Jiuzhaigou, which is Baiyun Mountain in Luoyang, Henan.

Luoyang Baiyun Mountain is located in the primeval forest area in the hinterland of Funiu Mountain. Like Jiuzhaigou, it holds national titles such as World Geopark, National AAAAA-level Tourist Attraction, and National Science Education Base. Baiyun Mountain has a forest coverage rate of over 98.5%. There are 37 peaks above 1,500 meters in elevation, among which Yuhuangding, at 2,216 meters, is the highest peak of Baiyun Mountain and the highest peak in the Central Plains.

Baiyun Mountain integrates mountains, rocks, water, caves, forests, grass, flowers, birds, and animals, with magnificence, danger, strangeness, seclusion, beauty, and wonder complementing each other, forming distinctive scenic areas. It has become a composite tourist area in the Central Plains that combines sightseeing, vacation and summer resort, scientific research and internship, and historical exploration, known as the 'Natural Museum,' 'Heaven on Earth,' and 'Famous Mountain of Capital Luoyang.'

'After visiting Jiuzhaigou, you need not see any other water.' In fact, the water of Baiyun Mountain is not inferior either. There is Baiyun Lake, as green as jade in the mountains; the Jiulong Gorge with 18 large cascading waterfalls, with a total drop of 500 meters; and the gurgling springs and splashing pearls in Luhua Valley. Majestic and vigorous, gentle and murmuring—all are beautiful paintings.

In autumn, Baiyun Mountain's forests are dyed in layers, colorful and splendid, ushering in the most beautiful autumn scenery of the year. The ubiquitous red leaves astonish every visitor. Immersed in the canyon beauty, viewing the red leaves covering the mountains, and feeling the singing of birds and fragrance of flowers around, one feels incomparably comfortable.

Mountain streams and waterfalls, yellow leaves covering the ground, and stone bridges scattered among them not only facilitate tourists but also adorn the mountain scenery. They are also great spots for portrait photography. If a girl in red walks across the bridge at this moment, every casual shot would be a masterpiece.

The content of negative oxygen ions is as high as over 12,000 per cubic centimeter, more than 100 times that of many northern urban areas. Strolling through it is truly a lung-cleansing journey.
