With waves of cold fronts sweeping in, most of the country has entered a deep freeze. Looking out at the gray, overcast sky, I believe most people, like me, desperately need a splash of color to get through winter. Then suddenly, a bright spot appeared in my social feed: free admission, forests, rime ice, ice falls—a silver-white world of ice and snow.

How to spend winter? I've found the answer—head to Daimei Mountain in Xin'an County to experience the season! Before this, my impression of Daimei Mountain was limited to "the unique cloud-top garden in Central Plains" and "the highest alpine meadow in northern China." Little did I know that those who truly know how to travel come to Daimei Mountain in winter, avoiding the crowded tourist rush and seeking real romance amidst wind and snow.

Daimei Mountain, with a peak elevation of 1,346.6 meters, creates a rich and varied winter wonderland. Every year around this time, the winter ice and snow of Daimei take center stage. In winter, the number of visitors drops significantly. The once-gurgling streams seem unable to bear the solitude, freezing into thousands of forms, transforming into white "jade belts" that adorn the cold, quiet season.

Some say the ice falls at Daimei Mountain look like sleeping water; others say Daimei Mountain is a piece of celestial jade fallen to earth. This magnificent ice-and-snow world is exceptionally alluring—only by seeing it with your own eyes can you appreciate its charm.

Aside from the unique winter scenery, the free-admission Daimei Mountain also offers original tourist attractions that won't disappoint you!

The "Heavenly Road Wonders" is a mountain-and-water scenic route, 1,000 meters long with 1,688 steps. Flanked by towering peaks, the route features spectacular mountains, waters, peaks, and rocks that become the most breathtaking highlights along the way.

If you're brave enough, head to the glass walkway at Daimei Mountain. Locals say it's "the most thrilling glass walkway in Henan." This 5D-style structure is built on a cliff at an altitude of 1,300 meters, forming a stunning sight on Daimei Mountain.

At the end of the glass walkway, there's another attraction even more lively—the glass viewing platform. Visitors gather there in small groups, chatting, eating, or taking photos. Even just watching well-dressed young ladies pose for pictures is quite a feast for the eyes.

If you haven't decided where to go this winter, I strongly recommend you visit Daimei Mountain to admire the ice falls and ice formations, and breathe in the crisp mountain air! Although spring is often recommended, winter actually reveals Daimei Mountain's true beauty and charm, making it even more spectacular. Plus, winter offers great value—Xin'an County is currently hosting a free admission event. Just make sure to dress warmly.
