Good News! Luoyang Metro Line 1 Is About to Open! It Will Pass Through Six Major Attractions in Luoyang City!
Luoyang Metro has been under construction for a long time. According to the latest information, Luoyang Metro Line 1 will officially begin operation before this year's Peony Cultural Festival, and Metro Line 2 will start operation at the end of this year. I believe both locals and tourists from other places are very excited to hear this. Today, let's take a look at what interesting attractions the first metro line, Line 1, will pass through!
Luoyang Wangcheng Park was established in 1955 and is a well-known comprehensive park in Luoyang. It is named after being built on the site of the Eastern Zhou Wangcheng ruins. The park's main attractions include peony flower beds, an animal pavilion, and an amusement park. For tourists coming to Luoyang to explore its historical charm, this place may not be particularly appealing, but during the Peony Flower Fair, Wangcheng Park is arguably the main venue and flower-viewing center of the fair. Visitors can choose to come here to admire peonies, thus starting their city tour of Luoyang without having to travel back and forth.
Tianzijia Six Museum
If you board the metro at Wangcheng Park Station, ride two stops, get off at Zhouwangcheng Square Station, and walk about 5 minutes, you will arrive. Tianzijia Six Museum is a large-scale specialized museum centered on the in-situ protection and display of a large Eastern Zhou chariot and horse pit. It also exhibits an overview of the Eastern Zhou Wangcheng, new archaeological discoveries from the royal tombs, and some precious artifacts. Besides visiting the museum, there is also the Luoyang Antique City nearby, where many shops deal in old ceramics, jade, bronze ware, coins, and more. It's also very interesting to browse these old items downstairs.
Also, if you are in a hurry and haven't eaten, you can choose to dine nearby. It takes about 5 minutes to walk from Tianzijia Six Museum to the Luoyang Department Store, behind which there is a street selling food. The prices are affordable and the food tastes good. Of course, this place is also very close to metro and bus stops, visible as soon as you exit the street. Transportation is convenient, but if you are driving, be aware that due to heavy foot traffic, parking spots are not easy to find.
From Zhouwangcheng Square, just one stop to Yingtianmen Station, you can reach Luoyang's famous Mingtang and Tiantang Scenic Area, located in the core area of the Sui and Tang Luoyang City's Ziwei Palace ruins. This was an important place where Empress Wu Zetian governed, worshipped Buddha, and lived. Not long ago, under the efforts of archaeologists, the Xuanwu Gate, the north gate of the palace city, was fully revealed. This was the site of the Shenlong Coup (which forced Empress Wu Zetian to abdicate). The metro station name Yingtianmen refers to the main south gate of the palace city. The Tiantang and Mingtang scenic area is very magnificent and grand. Entering and going up floor by floor, you can continuously learn about the splendid atmosphere and brilliant culture of the Tang Dynasty. Moreover, if you take the elevator to the top floor, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Luoyang. If you go out in summer and don't plan to visit the White Horse Temple, you might come here a bit later in the day; under the beautiful lights, you can better appreciate Luoyang's scenery, and the Tiantang and Mingtang Scenic Area also has a light show.
Lijing Gate and Old Town Cross Street
One stop after Yingtianmen is Lijing Gate, originally named Lijingmen, a city gate tower that recreates the style of the ancient capital Luoyang. There is a popular saying: "If you haven't been to Lijing Gate, you haven't truly visited Luoyang." The Lijing Gate scenic area consists of the gate tower, barbican, arrow tower, city wall, Lijing Bridge, and the moat outside the wall. It looks majestic as a whole.
On the old street next to Lijing Gate, there are shops of many painters and calligraphers, blending art and history, giving the area a rich atmosphere. At the intersection, step onto West Street, where there are many interesting shops on both sides. Walking along the old street, looking at the creative souvenir shops with Luoyang flair, it's very enjoyable. Proceed further and you'll see the Luoyang Octagonal Tower, a four-story octagonal antique-style building, signaling that you've reached the northeast corner of the Old City Cross Street. Turn a corner and you can visit the Luoyang Old City Cross Street Night Market (it's best to come after 6 p.m.). This was once a gathering place for merchants and has now developed into a snack street. It is one of the top ten food streets in China. Here you can find takoyaki, grilled rice cakes, and even Luoyang Water Banquet. When the red lanterns on both sides of the street light up at night, it becomes even more lively.
Actually, walking from Cross Street along East Street, it takes only about ten minutes to reach Luoyi Ancient City. But if you take the metro, you should get off at Qingniangong Station and walk about 500 meters to see it. Luoyi Ancient City is known as the "Central Plains Ferry," and it features several historical protected buildings from different eras, such as Wenfeng Pagoda and the Jin-Yuan Ancient City Wall Ruins. The entire scenic area integrates dining, tourism, accommodation, and other functions, balancing tourism and culture. It's a place where every step offers a new view, blending scenery and culture. You will surely feel it's worth the visit.
