The Misty Yellow River Bathed in Spring Light – See a Different Xiaolangdi
About the Xiaolangdi of the Yellow River, you might know that there is the last dam before the Yellow River rushes to the sea, you might know that it was once a fervent construction site where an international army of engineers fought against nature, you might know that it holds the unruly throat of the Yellow River, turning the yellow dragon into a clear pool and the wild waves into calm waters. But you might not know the delicate and gentle lake and mountain scenery there, and the misty Yellow River bathed in spring light, resembling the Jiangnan region.
Guyu, the last solar term of spring, the spring rain arrives as promised, drifting down gracefully, intermittent, now heavy now light, pattering, drizzling. Strolling through the Yellow River Park below the Xiaolangdi Dam, green trees, green hills, clear water, clouds and mist, covered bridges – it seems as if I am in the misty rain of Jiangnan.
Fortunately, there is only rain, no wind. People hold up umbrellas, raindrops playfully slide down the tips of the umbrella ribs, not disturbing people’s clothes or moods. So people are happy to immerse themselves in the hazy atmosphere, walking and stopping, pointing and commenting, together with the colorful umbrellas and the winding covered bridges, becoming a scenery within the scenery.
At this moment, the magnificent dam has become blurred and indistinguishable. Although not far away, to get close to it, you must walk nearer, and nearer, passing through the gallery of paintings, walking through the heavy rain curtains, through the layers of clouds and mist, the three characters 'Xiaolangdi' inlaid on the top of the dam finally come into view, but the spectacular sight of the high gorge and calm lake of the Xiaolangdi Reservoir, with its vast expanse of blue waves, is still locked in thick fog, not revealing its true face.
The rain stops and the mist disperses, Xiaolangdi gradually becomes bright and clear. It turns out that the legendary roaring muddy Yellow River has transformed so calmly at Xiaolangdi. This elegant and colorful landscape style is hard to match with the wild and rough images stored in my mind. For the two sets of images, past and present, should I store them separately or overwrite and delete? I need to think carefully.
It's always hard to choose, always hard to decide. So let the images of the Yellow River and Xiaolangdi be as numerous as dandelion seeds, flying up and storing in the cloud, to be viewed and used whenever I want.
