Xitaishan Azalea Flower-Viewing Guide
The most beautiful time on earth is in April, when azaleas bloom on Xitaishan! Every year during the azalea blossoming season, Xitaishan welcomes its busiest days. This year is no exception. The Ruyang Azalea Festival grandly opens at the Yanhuang Square in Xitaishan, Ruyang, presenting the annual sea of flowers to the public.
Spring breezes carry the fragrance of blooming azaleas, and visitors arrive with the scent. “In Luoyang, admire peonies; in Ruyang, enjoy azaleas.” As the largest wild azalea base in Henan Province, the Xitaishan Scenic Area in Luoyang, Ruyang sees 100,000 mu of wild azaleas competing to bloom every spring. The mountains are covered in red, the forests are dyed in layers, and the 9-kilometer-long azalea corridor resembles clouds and rosy clouds. The hills are ablaze with azaleas, clusters of flowers bursting into brilliant red.
The journey to view the flowers is filled with endless beauty, with winding paths leading to the azalea sea. There are 17 azalea-viewing tourist routes within the area, including over 50 scenic spots such as Yanhuang Peak, Lovers' Peak, Huixian Peak, Xianglu Peak, Lovers' Valley, Shiba Duo, primeval forest, Cave Sky Flying Waterfall, Seven Star Fairy Bath, Holy Water Lake, and Azalea Sea.
During the Azalea Festival, in addition to flower viewing, visitors can also experience the high-altitude glass suspension bridge and watch high-altitude stunt performances. The “dual high-altitude experience” doubles the thrill.
You can see a rainbow even when it’s not raining. The Xitaishan Rainbow Glass Bridge is 2.6 meters wide and nearly 200 meters long. Thousands of soybean-sized water outlets are designed on both sides of the bridge, spraying a mist of water. When sunlight shines through, a high-altitude rainbow appears, making you feel as if you are passing through a fairyland.
