Step out of the scorching city and set off for Luoning's Shenling Village to enjoy the cool 24°C world

Luoyang Shenling Village takes its name from the secret saying 'Divine blessing, auspicious fortune' in the 'Records of the Grand Historian: Fengshan Book'. Atop Shenling Village is the Shenling Yue Temple, which was originally a Taoist temple and was later officially called a temple after Emperor Gaozu of Han, Liu Bang, performed the Fengshan ceremony.

In the Luoning area, many romantic tales of Emperor Tang Minghuang and Yang Guifei are passed down. Moreover, the fine verses left by Bai Juyi and Wang Duo—'Village apricots and wild peaches bloom thick as snow; for whom do they open if travelers are not drunk?' and 'Having seen all the floating clouds of worldly affairs, flowers bloom and fall over the old stream'—have made Luoyang Shenling Village even more famous.

The Lingzhai Scenic Area is located in Luoning County, Henan Province, known as the 'Bamboo Township of the North'. The scenic area is within the Sanguanmiao Forest Farm at the northern foot of Xionger Mountain, 17 kilometers southeast of the county seat, and 90 kilometers east of the ancient capital Luoyang. It is a national forest park and a national geopark, combining the majesty of northern landscapes with the elegance of southern landscapes.

Shenling Village National Forest Park is divided into four sightseeing areas: Shenling Garden, Shenling Elegant Water, Shenling Famous Mountain, and Shenling Ancient Temple. Along the way, you cross small bridges with gentle breezes accompanying you; walk on plank roads, recalling the past and pondering the present; step on stone steps with incense smoke connecting to the divine; climb cloud ladders, gazing as far as the horizon.

The beauty of Shenling Village's landscapes lies in its naturalness, subtlety, artistic conception, and uniqueness. In spring, enjoy the fragrant flowers; in summer, view the trees; in autumn, appreciate the leaves; in winter, admire the mist. Along the way, nearly a hundred scenic spots allow you to observe, taste, and comprehend through form, spirit, and meaning.

Within the scenic area, ancient vines and old trees stretch in a vast sea of forest; gentle clear streams connect pools and waterfalls; strange peaks and bizarre rocks, ancient temples and famous mountains—it is both a Taoist sacred site and an ancient battlefield. Not only are the landscapes uniquely beautiful with artistic conception, but also rich in historical and cultural depth.

Shenling Village not only boasts beautiful natural scenery but also harbors abundant geological heritage resources. Over billions of years, various geological processes have formed the unique granite peak cluster landform of the north, rare stone waterfalls and alpine wetlands, and diverse pictographic rocks, constituting a natural geological museum.

With strange peaks and bizarre rocks, ancient temples and famous mountains, the landscapes are uniquely beautiful. Moreover, it has the largest group of stone waterfalls in China, distinctly characteristic. Those stone waterfalls pour down like rivers and seas, roll up like the Milky Way, magnificent and spectacular.

The scenic area has unique landform features: steep mountain slopes with cliffs towering thousands of feet, numerous canyons and streams, and large areas of rare stone waterfalls. It is praised for its steep mountains, peculiar peaks, strange rocks, magnificent waterfalls, and elegant waters—a feast for the eyes that leaves people marveling.

The myriad forms of pictographic rocks in Shenling Village give endless inspiration. Wunü Peak (Five Maidens Peak) embodies ancient myths and legends, endowing it with a mysterious aura, like five fairy maidens echoing each other under the sunset glow. With the reflection of mountains and waters, they are beautiful and upright, dreamlike and illusory.

Self-driving route: From Luoyang New District, take Provincial Road S319 (Anhu Line on the south bank of the Luo River) for 80 kilometers to Luoning County (at the intersection of Anhu Line and Shenling Road), then drive along Shenling Road for 12 kilometers to Shenling Village Scenic Area.
