Wandering Macau: A Different Charm Beyond the Bustle
When you think of Macau, what words come to mind? Bright lights? Heavy traffic? Or the blend of East and West?

(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) I believe this dual-faced city is hard to define with a single word. A simple summary might capture a bit of its essence, but not the whole picture. Macau is truly a city full of surprises and transformations, yet I prefer its lesser-known, quiet, and deep side.

I have always been fond of the recently voted "New Eight Scenic Spots of Macau," which inspired this trip. I don't need to say much about Ruins of St. Paul—it's Macau's landmark. Whether you've been to Macau or not, you can easily learn all about it through on-site experience or online information.
(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) Love Lane, near the Ruins of St. Paul, got its name from a beautiful misunderstanding. The entire lane is very short, and you can walk through it in just a few minutes. But with colorful walls on both sides, it's full of character. Many couples and tourists come here to stroll or take photos.

The distinctive black-and-white cobblestone pavements form wave-like patterns, combining with the brightly colored surrounding buildings to create a Southern European atmosphere. Events are often held here; if you happen to visit during an event, you can feel the lively vibe.
(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) Macau Tower has become popular among tourists in recent years. This multi-functional resort complex stands 338 meters tall—even taller than the Eiffel Tower! It offers thrilling entertainment, including the world's highest commercial bungee jump, skywalk on the observation tower, and the "Hundred Steps to the Sky," all allowing you to release daily stress. After the experience, you'll feel a sense of surviving an ordeal, able to face any challenge calmly.

(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) My favorite is the revolving restaurant on the 60th floor of Macau Tower. The whole concept is unique. If you get a chance, be sure to sit by the window. You can feel the restaurant slowly rotating clockwise around the center, offering a panoramic view of Macau from this distinctive angle.
(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) Besides the urban attractions, Coloane Island is also a place rich in tourism resources.
(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) Compared to the bustling city, Coloane Island retains its pristine natural scenery. It's less than a 20-minute drive from the city, but feels like a secluded paradise away from the mundane world. Sun, beaches, clean streets, and unique shops—it's a perfect leisure getaway.
(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) The colorful houses on Coloane Island are numerous. Coming here feels like stepping into a dreamland. The pastel macaron colors make the perfect backdrop for photography. You can get amazing shots just by standing anywhere! Photography enthusiasts, don't miss this place!
(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) Walking further, a striking building comes into view: the beige facade with Baroque style. This is St. Francis Xavier Church. Though small, it has long been favored by directors. One scene from the Korean drama "Palace" was shot in front of this church.

(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) At the southernmost tip of Coloane lies Hac Sa Beach. The sand is fine and even, and as the name suggests, it's black—quite different from other beaches inland. Among the "New Eight Scenic Spots," Long Chao Kok is located on the southwestern shore of Hac Sa Beach. It's a favorite spot for photography enthusiasts to capture the surging waves and sunrise/sunset, preserving the most beautiful views through photography.
(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) There is a 2-kilometer-long family trail here. It takes less than an hour to complete the entire route, making it an excellent place for leisure walks and exercise.
(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) Coloane is truly a hidden gem. Seac Pai Van Park, in the northwestern part of Coloane, allows you to visit both animals and plants in their natural habitats. It includes a Panda Pavilion, Rare Animal Pavilion, Natural Museum, Bird Garden, and Interesting Plant Garden, as well as children's play facilities and park trails—suitable for parents bringing children to learn, or nature enthusiasts to explore.
(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) In today's era of mass tourism, we travel not just for check-in photos and rushing through every attraction. The most important thing is to enjoy life and experience leisurely wellness living. When you come to Macau, besides eating, drinking, and having fun, there are diverse wellness tourism programs to help you relax. Almost every resort hotel offers spa services and beauty treatments. During the tiring journey, enjoying a spa or body treatment can help you relax, rejuvenate, and add a leisurely aspect to the trip. Before choosing a spa, remember to check the merchant info and discounts on the [Macau Heartbeat] e-coupon platform before going!
(Photo source: Macau Government Tourism Office) I suggest you try new ways to explore Macau: those who prefer leisure and freedom can cycle around Macau; sports lovers can swim at Macau's beaches or engage in water sports; or play a game of golf with friends; those who like thrilling activities can try go-karting. The activities here are so fun that you'll surely want to stay and never leave!!
